States proclaim June as RV Centennial Month

States across the nation are stepping up to help celebrate the RV industry's 100th anniversary by declaring the month of June 2010 "RV Centennial Celebration Month."

The state legislatures in Indiana, Iowa and Louisiana have already adopted resolutions for the name change. The Florida state senate has also introduced an RV Centennial resolution, but it has not yet been passed.

"We are pleased that Indiana, Iowa, and Louisiana have honored the RV industry on the occasion of its 100th Anniversary, and we expect additional proclamations to be issued by several Governors as we approach June," said Recreational Vehicle Industry Association (RVIA) vice president of government affairs Dianne Farrell.

Federal lawmakers in both chambers of Congress have also introduced resolutions to officially recognize June as RV Centennial Celebration Month.

The Senate resolution was introduced by Indiana Senators Evan Bayh and Richard Lugar. The House resolution was introduced by Indiana Congressmen Joe Donnelly and Mark Souder.

Both resolutions include the clause, "this homegrown industry, including recreation vehicle manufacturers, suppliers, dealers, and campgrounds, employs hundreds of thousands of people in the nation in good-paying jobs across all 50 states."

The RVIA is working with lawmakers to have the resolutions approved before June. The association is also encouraging the public to support its efforts via its Facebook fan page and Twitter. ADNFCR-2712-ID-19737865-ADNFCR
