Technology makes reading on the road easy for RVers

The Amazon Kindle was one of the hottest holiday gifts this season, with website Amazon.com reporting it sold more of these high-tech electronic book devices than traditional books despite a pretty hefty price of about $250.

While many have made the switch from old-fashioned, paper books already, others have not. However, these space-saving, lightweight devices are perfect for RVers who want to bring their favorite books on the road without worrying about storage or extra weight.

The Kindle is an electronic book reader that allows users to download and store books literally in the palm of their hand. It can hold up to 200 books and there are more than 110,000 e-books available online to be downloaded. The device is lightweight at under one pound heavy.

In addition to books, the Kindle allows users to automatically download top national newspapers and magazines like The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, Time magazine and more, according to website Squidoo.com.

The Kindle is wireless and uses the same data network as cell phones so users don't have to find a wireless internet hotspot to download new reading material. New purchases are delivered to the device in less than one minute.

There are similar electronic readers currently on the market as well, including Barnes and Noble's Nook and Sony's e-reader, but the Kindle seems to be the most user friendly. ADNFCR-2712-ID-19577040-ADNFCR
