Veterans eligible for free camping
While many states offer year-round discounts for veterans, Tennessee and Montana have announced that veterans can receive free camping to mark the holiday.
In Tennessee, current and former military members can receive a free night of camping on November 11. They can also play golf for free at courses in any of the state's 53 parks.
"The new policy gives Tennessee State Parks an additional way to honor the men and women who served our country," Environment and Conservation Commissioner Jim Fyke told WKSR.com.
In Montana, veterans can receive a free night of camping anytime during the holiday weekend (November 11 through November 14).
The free camping waiver, which is available online, includes both campsite and electrical hookup fees, where available. All campsites are on a first-come, first served basis.
Veterans in other areas of the country are encouraged to seek out discounts and other specials honoring them at both state and private campgrounds.
