The National Park Service (NPS) has launched a new website to help travelers plan their summer vacations.
NPS' summer planning homepage helps individuals choose the perfect park out of the nearly 400 nationwide for them.
The "travel tips" section contains important information for anyone visiting a national park. Users can find a park by searching by park name, location, activity or topic.
The NPS urges visitors to plan their visit ahead of time by visiting their chosen park's home page. These pages provide updated information on travel conditions, fees, closures and special events. They will also help you plan exactly what you want to do while visiting a park and make reservations, in some cases.
The "lodging" section provides links to campgrounds, lodges and cabins in and around national park areas.
More than 150 national parks offer public camping. RVers and campers can search for parks with camping on the NPS summer planning page.
Additional camping information is available on each park website's "plan your visit" section.
Almost 300 of the 750 National Park Service campgrounds can be booked online using the National Recreation Reservation Service or by calling (877) 444-6777.
