Pet Training

Even the best trained pet can be distracted by all the stimulation they encounter when out camping. There are several ways to keep them under control. You can employ a disciplinary collar; you can make sure they are good and tired; or you can up your training routine.

Dogs respond best to positive, patient training. It is best to start in advance of your trip and take the precaution of bringing enough treats along for incentive. If you are opting for a collar, don’t wait until you go camping to use it. If you only use the collar on a trip, your dog will quickly associate camping with negative connotations. Work with it in advance, and it will serve you will when you are out and about.

Finally, bring along a nice selection of toys to keep your dog busy, physically and mentally. A tired dog is easier to control.
