2-HEIGHT PLATFORM STEP DANGERS

First of all I want to say that this item is the best step unit that I have ever used in 40 years of camping. But last weekend I experienced a problem where my pet (a golden retriever) got her rear foot toenail caught in the grid of the step and she drug the step a couple of feet away from the RV until she got free. She had no damage, but experienced pain as she was yelping while caught. I had previously heard of a similar incident from our friends whose cocker spaniel had to have her toe removed by a vet last winter in Florida. They covered the grid with a piece of rubber and I will be doing something similar. This product needs some modification for pet owners or at least a warning label to pet owners??

This was just what I needed. I have trouble getting into the trailer and wanted something that would hold up under heavy weight guests. My husband thought this was an expense we didn't need (we can use boards or a rock) . I decided to get this step anyway & he loves the ease of getting in and out of the 5th wheel along with all our guests. I would buy this step AGAIN.

Easy fix for leg latch failure

The step is fantastic, but I also had a problem with the ball bearings falling out. However, there is a simple fix! If the ball bearings fall out of your Platform Step, simply contact Stromberg-Carlson via E-mail and they will provide you with pins to replace the ball bearings. These pins easily correct the problem (the legs are still foldable) and cannot fall out like the ball bearings. I also added a convenient handle (a "window sash" handle from the hardware store) on one end of the step which makes it very easy to pull out of the basement when I'm setting up at a campsite.

Husband laughed at me for getting this

My husband thought we didn't need this and laughed about it. He changed his mind after climbing up and down on it a few times. Everyone that goes into the trailer comments on how sturdy it is. This was a great purchase and I would buy it again.

PROS-Dirt falls through step top grid. Non-slip surface. Heavy duty step. CONS-Heavy, rubber feet breakoff. I placed round felt to the bottom of the legs. So far this is working. liked this well enough to buy another one.

2-Height Platform Step

After about 3 camping trips, the leg wouldn't stay locked out. Found that the locking ball bearings fell out of one leg. I was able to compensate for this by over-tightening the bolt, so the leg would stay out. Then on the next trip, the ball bearing fell out on another leg, but I again over-tightened the bolt to compensate. The Platform Step is an ideal height and is very sturdy, other than the locking bearings.
