We found the attached long heavy cord very hard to return into the storage box. We also use a generator when we dry camp and carry a 50 foot 12 gauge cord for it. Cutting off the 10 gauge cord and installing the plug was very easy. The instructions were easy to follow and the plug also fits into the opening on the coach for storage..

This plug is compact and inexpensive. It is relatively easy to install on the cord. The electrical connectors are physically under-sized so the #10 wire will not initially fit. Instructions and clear diagrams show how you can divide each wire into 2 twisted strands and then they fit on either side of the screw terminal and connect in an adequate manner. It is not particularly water resistant and is marked on the cover for indoor use only. Still, it is a satisfactory inexpensive plug, and I now carry it as a spare.

Beats Throwing Away Your Old RV 30 Amp Cord

May 23, 2014
I recently changed out my RV 30 Amp cord, because the previous owner had apparently pulled the sleeve out from the male end exposing the wires, then wrapped electrician tape to try to hold it together. Not good. So, rather than throw out the old cord, I decided to recycle it and turn it into an extension cord for the RV and bought both male and female ends. Cost was about $20. It's a bit fiddly and time consuming to put it together, but if you follow the instructions to the letter, it comes out very good. The cord is held into the ends with sleeve clamps, and is very tight and secure. Now, it may not be quite as water tight as the pre-made molded extension cords, but it's about the half the cost and I think is fairly weather proof and good quality. Best of all, I turned my old cord from junk into something very useful. I think it rates 5 stars for quality and recycling.

Would buy this again. Hope I don't need it though.

This product was easy to install. It fit our existing power cord portal. It seems to seal against the elements better than the factory installed plug. Just follow the instructions that are included. Took about 15 minutes, then done.

Nothing in the product description indicates that this is not suitable for outdoor use. When I removed it from the package I noticed the warning: "CAUTION: For indoor and copper wire use only." I took a closer look at the picture and yup, the warning is on the plug in the picture.
Cons: Not for outdoor use
