This unit seems to operate correctly, but I have had difficulty getting it to properly fit into campgrount electrical boxes configured as it is. The lower frame of the unit sticks down far enough that it strikes the utility box frame before it plugs evenly into the receptical. The portion to the unit containing the plug-in prongs needs to protrude from the body of the unit about a quarter of an inch or more in order for it to properly fit into the receptical box. I don't believe the manufacturer field tested it adequately to see whether the design was acceptible for usual applications.

Surge protector works great. We carry an extension cord for when the unit will not fit into electric box provided by campground. We then put it into the compartment of the motorhome where the unit is out of the elements.

Worked great at my seasonal site

I purchased this RV Surge protector to use with a travel trailer at seasonal campsite in 2008. The unit worked great and fit the pedestal electrical outlet. The cover of the pedestal did not close Completely due to the body of the unit plus the type of cable I used to connect with the trailer. It was closed enough to keep out any excess moisture. My camp has a newer electrical setup and we have not experienced any issues but I do feel better having the protector in place and will be using it again when camp reopens in April. I would recommend some form of surge protection for any RV or trailer whether traveling or seasonal. Should I upgrade in the future to a newer trailer, I may consider a full unit surge protector that would be built-in or permanent to the trailer.
