After using the 2000 watt generator for a year on a Swift Slx which worked great, I needed a bigger generator for my new trailer with a 13,500 a/c. Bought this one today and after adding oil and gas it fired right up. It took about a minute to stabilize and then she was ready to go. I put it next to the 2000 watt gen about 10 feet apart and could barely notice the sound difference between the two. With the gen 5' from the trailer, it can barely be heard over the a/c. I only wished the gas tank was bigger to last thru the night but overall it's a good gen.

This inverter is priced well, seems to be built well, and fired up on the first pull after filling with oil. It is almost as quiet and well featured as my friends Honda EU3000's are, at less than half the price. I will however, echo the previous reviewer in his one complaint, it runs out of fuel too quickly. It would be nice if they had an extended run kit for this unit, because if you are running the AC on your camper, be prepared to wake up to fill it up with gas in the middle of the night.

I bought this one last week to take with us last weekend to the lake. I previously owned a Honda 3000i but it was stolen a year ago. Because we don't go near as much as we used to I really didn't want to spend $2,000 + on a generator so I got the Champion. I took it out of the box filled it with oil & gas and it started the first pole. So far so good. My disappointment was that it was no where near as quiet as the Honda. Maybe when there is no load but when the AC kicks in we were all laughing because it was every bit as loud as my buddies $300 Pep-Boys generator. The next disappointment was after running with the AC on for about 45 minutes it kicked off on overload. I shut it down for a short while then tried it again and after only 5 minutes it was useless. I will admit it was 110 dg outside but I had it in the shade not on an extension cord or any of those other mistakes. I did run my Honda all day once on blacktop at a high of 117 dg. The next day it was a little cooler, like 105 dg and it did work fine. I'm assuming that it was the heat and if we are lucky we won't go camping any more in that kind of heat. Overall it is light, easy to move around with the wheels, great having the RV plug built in but I gotta tell ya, It aint all that quiet.

I bought this generator to provide power to my travel trailer for the July race in Daytona. It worked great. Started up on the first pull after I put gas and oil in it. We have a 13,500 BTU AC unit which never stopped running. This provided plenty of power to run that and everything else we wanted but would not run the microwave and AC unit at the same time, which I didn't expect it to. The size of the fuel tank isn't as bad as I thought it would be and was running for about 5 - 6 hours with the economy mode switched on. Its also very quiet which doesn't really matter when everyone else is running loud generators. You can stand right beside it and have a conversation in a normal voice without any problems. We ran the generator for about 40 hours straight with no problems at all. For the price, its a great generator, and I am very happy with my purchase and glad that I didn't spring for some of the more expensive brands.

I was skeptical at first but I bought this generator and all I can say is great generator and great price. It is just as quiet as the Honda 3000i and runs on the first or second pull. It runs the 13,500 btu air in my travel trailer with no problems. Can't run the microwave and air at the same time and to me it's no big thing. Nor can the Honda 3000i. I put about 300 hours on it so far and no problems. I have owned non-inverter Champion generators in the past and was very satisfied with them. Want a generator just as good as the Honda? This is the one. This will give Honda a run for their money.

For the folks that say this won't start/run their a/cs, try installing a Hard start kit in your a/c. I have the smaller 2000's (paired) and they would kick out just about the time the a/c spooled up. I changed the a/c start capacitor and now they start the a/c without even loading down. Capacitor was same # as what was in the unit but they do go bad in time.

After researching options i decided on this unit. It will run my 15k btu ac, fridg on electric and tv with out any issues. The rep at camping world kept insisting it would not run the ac and kept pushing me to purchase 2 honda 2000i. i cranked the ac down to 65 and had the items listed above turned on. The generator ran for over 5 hours on a tank of fuel. the only down fall it the small tank. needs to be a bit bigger i would like to have an 8 hour run time

Quiet and enough power to run our 13.5k ac, only thing it won't do is run ac and micro at the same time but we got over that pretty quick! Light and easily maneuverable, gas sipper. 10 feet away we could barely hear it in eco mode. Your can't go wrong with this unit when comparing to others at 3 times the cost! Definite thumbs up for small to med size needs.

This is a great unit, however it will not run my Dometic 13500 A/C. I thought maybe it was issues with my unit but looking at specs on different Dometic units. I found no Dometic13500 units that could be run with this generator. That being said this unit is very capable and started first pull and runs like a champ and might add I am VERY HAPPY I DIDNT SPEND TWICE AS MUCH ON ANOTHER UNIT ONLY TO FIND OUT IT WOULD NOT WORK FOR WHAT I NEEDED!

Always wanted a Honda Generator and had to settle for a Champion generator (the price). Was surprised how quiet, attractive and light the generator is.. Also might want to consider Camping Worlds extended warranty, I have four worry free years of protection on equipment. Just in case.

Took it out of the box, added oil and gas and it fired up on the first pull. Let it warm up and plugged my trailer in and was able to use the 13500 A/C with no problem. It was quiet and easy to use. love it!

Like everyone does, I did a lot of research on the most bang for my buck. I looked at running 2-2000 W gennies in parallel, researched Honda (quality, I'm sure, but EXPENSIVE), dabbled with the idea of just buying a 4000 W genie for a few hundred bucks and hoping my neighbors or the next campground over didn't mind the noise. Stumbled upon this and was a little hesistant; My family is new to RVing and I had never heard of Champion. I researched DB levels to see if I could compare standing next to a 747 at takeoff with standing 17.75 feet from some generator (insert make/model here). By no means could I spare the extra cash to drop on an inverter generator, but I did like that they were quiet(er). I decided that after reading different reviews on this and not being sure if it would meet my needs, I would give this a shot. I'm glad I did! Out of the box, I threw fuel and oil in it and it started on the first pull. It was about 40 degrees outside! I plugged in my trailer (30 AMP) and gave it a test run. I fired up the 13,500 BTU air, ran the microwave, and my daughter watched tv while every light was on and this never waivered. Surprisingly quiet for what it does, pull it as far as I can from my trailer and I will hardly hear it. I live in Salt Lake City, 4400 ft, so it will be interesting to see how this does up around 9k feet, but I'm sure it will do fine. I would highly, highly recommend this generator if you are looking for a quiet, useful tool and only want to buy a generator once. I ran my trailer as if I had it hooked up to my house for about 2 hours and this never gave out. Very, very satisfied and glad I shelled out a little more $$ for it instead of spending $400 on one which will sound like my ride on the lawnmower. This provides plenty of power and is surprisingly lightweight. To reiterate, I am very happy with this purchase. I am not one to give reviews; given the controversial nature of online threads regarding generators I felt compelled and I hope it helps!

I've had many generators & inverters in the past, home and at work. I haven't gotten many hours on this one yet, but it looks as good as any I've had. A year from now my experience will tell me more. It arrived clean and looks good. Starts very easily.

This generator is made to compete with the Honda 3000is and does so very well. Being that I have only had the generator a few weeks I do not know if it will hold up long term like a Honda; however, it seems to be well built. It is very quiet for the wattage, coming in at about 65 decibels at 25 feet under a 2000 watt load (Space Heater). The built in wheel kit is very nice also. I use it to power my Travel Trailer with a 15000 BTU A/C and it does it well. It will not run everything at once, but I have not had problems with running the lights, TV, A/C, and the refrigerator at once. I run everything else on gas when I am off grid.
Pros: Quiet, Easy to Use, Light Weight, Exceeded Expectations

I have had this generator for a year and a half now and have had no problems with it. I do a lot of dry camping and it runs everything without a hitch. Of course you can't run the microwave and A/C at the same time, but besides that it runs everything I have thrown at it including a 1500 watt heater. It is a bit noisy but for the price I can live with it. My trick for beating the noise is to keep it in the back of my truck and position my truck so it is pointing away from everyone else and my trailer. I have a cover so I lower the cover and leave the tailgate down, this directs the noise out and away from everyone and from more then 20 yards away in eco mode it is almost silent so it won't disturb the neighbors and inside the trailer you don't even hear it.

I was reluctant to run out and by any generator. I spent quite a bit of the winter months and first part of spring studying generators. Everywhere I turned I was told to go with a different generator. In the end I bought the Champion 3100 W inverter generator and I couldn't be happier. I had zero experience with generators prior to this weekend. I opened the box to find great instructions with pictures. Within 5 minutes I had the generator set up and running. It started on the first pull and not too soon as it began snowing! We were camping at 10,500 feet and the generator powered my 30 foot trailer no problem. Microwave at 10,500 feet? No problem. This thing is a power horse and I couldn't be happier with my decision.

Champion 3100w RV genturi use in rain

0 out of 0 people found this review helpful.
    October 05, 2014
Like others, I did extensive Internet research before this, our first generator. We have rare dry camping needs. This unit ran flawlessly and is easy to start cold and hot. Easily powered our two year old travel trailer 13,500 btu A/C , TV, battery charger, and refrigerator. At night, I put the A/C on propane and shut off the battery charger and just ran the A/C. I filled it up at midnight just prior to going to bed. We ran the A/C all night in Florida in September, and at 6 am the next morning, it was still running when I refueled it. Although I don't recommend it, if you are very careful and have the right kind of spout, you can refill the tank without shutting the generator down. With the A/C on, you cannot hear this generator in your RV even when placed next to the RV. All we could hear from the back of the RV was the old style genny of our neighbor! The exhaust has two screws so with a little ingenuity, a 3 piece of 1/2 galvanized pipe into a 1/2 to 3/4 inch pipe adaptor, you can add a genturi unit to this generator if your campsite requires an updraft exhaust. The oil is easy to change if you have a vacuum dipstick oil changer. Otherwise, I don't know how you could change the oil without a mess. It is a bit of a load to lift by myself (I am a reasonably fit 51 year old man), but to get the capacity you need the cubic inches and weight that comes along with it. Operation in the rain was no problem as I brought a single shelf of one of those plastic shelving units and put a piece of plywood weighted down with a weight on top and arranged it to keep clear of the exhaust. Overall, a great bang.

Bought the display unit, I know, not too bright huh? But we were assured it had never been messed with, or run. Silly us. We got it home, and it never started. Now, we own 2 generators, both Hondas, but neither able to run my trailer. The point of that is, we know how to operate a generator. Well, we took a chance on this after reading the reviews. We got a bad one, as obviously there are good ones out there, but I'll go with what I know works from now on, and Hondas work, forever. I will say, Camping world stood by the product, and we returned it for a Honda. We should have gone with the Honda originally. Lesson learned.

Runs my dometic 13,500 BTU air conditioner!

    July 17, 2016
I have been looking for a reliable quiet inverter/generator to power my travel trailer. In 2014, I bought a brand new 2014 Keystone Springdale 189FLWE. It came pre-installed with a Dometic Air Conditioner 13,500 BTU (model B57915). Some say that this inverter will notrun a Dometic 13,500 BTU Air Conditioner. So I've decided to try this myself, and wow! This Champion inverter started up my 13,500 BTU without any issue! It could run on the quiet Economic mode too. (I also heard that it could ran a Dometic 15,000 BTU) Yesterday, I went to a Camping World store near my town. The store happened to have 2 units in stock so I purchased one. Today, I unpacked the inverter, added 0.6qt of engine oil (10W 30), then added unleaded gasoline about 3/4 of gallon. - Turned the Gas switch to ON, - Choke OUT - Turned the Start switch to ON - Pulled The inverter started right up on the 1st pull. I let it ran in the Economic Mode OFF for a few minutes, then later changed it to ON. I went into my trailer, turned everything off, including the refrigerator. I went back out to the inverter, plugged in my RV 3-prongs cord to the the inverter. I went back into my trailer and then turn my Domestic 13,500 BTU A/C to ON. The A/C unit started and ran with no issue. I then let the A/C ran for a few minutes before turned on my refrigerator and other electronic devices. My 1st day with the Champion Power Equipment 3100W was a success! All I can say is, it works! It's very quiet for it size (58dB). It's a great prize! And my wife is now super happy to hear that this year she can stay cool in at the fairground. Happy camping folks!
Pros: Quiet, Easy to Use, Exceeded Expectations, Price
    Cons: Not for high elevations
