Description

Use your 50-amp power cord in parks without 50-amp service to operate lights and appliances.
Two 30-amp plugs on heavy-duty 17"L UL approved cords supply power to a 50-amp receptacle from any combination of two 30-, 20- or 15-amp power receptacles. One 30-amp connection and one 20-15-amp connection (with included adapter) on separate circuits is the ideal situation for running both air conditioners. For providing 20-15 amps on each leg an additional #24493 30-to-15-amp adapter (sold separately) is required. Receptacle is housed in a weather-proof box with flip cover and works best if outlets are on separate circuits. Polarity check of each park receptacle is recommended before use-see #16036 Good Governor (sold separately). Not for use with GFI receptacles.

I'll Never Be Without It

This is one of the most critical pieces of equipment I've ever purchased. So many places only have 30 amp (or limited number of 50 amp) sites - so this has been such a help as we camp during the Texas heat. Always allowing us to run both A/C units. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

This product works excellent where 50 AMP service is not available. By using this item you can get enough amps to run two AC's etc.

Works with generators too

I bought this RV Adapter to work with two Honda EU3000is generators running in parallel. The Honda EU3000is generator has a 30 Amp outlet and a parallel cable that allows two EU3000is generators to run in parallel. When one generator has a power draw that is greater than it can produce, it will draw the additional power needed from the other generator. This 50 Amp adapter box has two 30 Amp plugs, so each side can be plugged into one of the two generators. In this configuration, this system can produce 5,600 Watts / 46.6 Amps.

This product is great!

We camp at many places where 30 amp is the only power source available. With this unit I can plug into the 30 and 20 amp service and run everything without any power issues! If you camp at older RV parks with limited 50 amp power available, then this is the Getty-up you want in your bag-O-power tricks! Understand it will NOT work on a GFI protected 20-15 amp outlet. But most places we hit... Don't have GFI outlets at the utility pole so it's never been an issue. I use a "Surge Guard" after plugging into everything, just in case ;o)

Awesome Adapter

We own, we use and we love it! We have used this every summer! The park where stay doesn't have 50 amp service except at 16 sites. For all the other 440 sites, we have 30 amp service boxes. We are able to use both sides of the box and we have the ability to have enough service to handle our 39 foot 5th wheel. We are full time RV'ers and find this is one of the best tools to have in your possession.

WE had to stay with relatives for an extended period of time and they have no provisions for a 30 or 50amp power outlet. we purchased this adapter and plugged into two 20 amp outlets and were able to run all our appliances plus our heat pump. This is a life saver.

GFI Circuit?

0 out of 0 people found this review helpful.
October 15, 2008
The enclosed paperwork with this product says it will not work on a Ground Fault Circuit. The box does not say this. All campground hookups are required to be on a GFI because they are outside. Very old ones are probably not. If it will not work on a GFI cidrcuit, doesn't that mean it will not work at any campground? I hope that is just a disclaimer, knowing that some GFI circuits are really easy to trip and some are not. I will reply back in Nov. 2008 after my 1st trip using the product.

Not a sure fix at the campground

July 18, 2008
The device works as advertised only when the campground has the 2 receptacles wired on separate poles at the service panel. If they are wired on the same pole only 30 Amps will be available. Since you have no way of knowing how the campground has the outlets at your site configured it's a roll of the dice if the adapter will work. Still it will work occasionally.

NOT True 50-amp Power Available

0 out of 0 people found this review helpful.
November 07, 2007
Unfortunately, far too many RVers with 50-amp RVs don't understand that they actually can pull up to 100 amps, 50 amps on each of the two legs. Those with 30-amp RVs know they can only use up to 30 amps, therefore are more conservative on how many appliances they use at once. This adapter does NOT give a 50-amp RVer a true 50-amp RV outlet off two 30-amp outlets. Rather, the most a 50-amp RVer can pull is 60 amps, not 100. So they still may well blow the circuit breakers on the two 30-amp RV outlets. The literature needs to clearly state that this adapter on two 30-amp RV outlets limits you to 60 amps total, 60% of what you can pull on a real 50-amp RV outlet in a campground. On a 30-amp and a 20-amp, it's 50 amps total, half of what a 50-amp RVer is capable of pulling. WARNING: YOU CAN ONLY PULL 2 X 30-AMPS WITH THIS DEVICE, NOT THE 100 AMPS YOU CAN PULL ON A 50-AMP RV OUTLET

Good when used correctly

The 50-Amp RV Box Adapter will not work on any service that is GFIC protected. The GFCI will trip. I have used my 50-Amp RV Box to connect to two 30 Amp. Rec. that were not GFCI protected and worked as good or better than if I had pluged into a 50 Amp. Rec.. I have also used the adapter with a 30 Amp. Rec. and a 20 Amp. Rec. using a 30 Amp. to 20 Amp adapter on one of the 30 Amp cords. I connected the 20 Amp. Rec. to the circuit with the smaller load.

My Vectra has central air and it draws too much peak current to run it on my home's 30-amp connection. I added this adapter and ran a heavy-duty extension cord to my work shed (not a gfci circuit). Went into the motor home and the control panel says I have a 50-amp connection. The air conditioning works fine now, even when I run the microwave or coffee maker. Steve Spicer Nashua, NH

I have had no problems with it -- recognizing that it doesn't work with a GFI 15/20 amp outlet. I had to "cross" the adapter leads to get the 30 amp supply to the high amp draw side of my coach electrical bus and the 15/20 amp supply to the lower amp demand side. It was just a matter of turning the 30 and 15 amp breakers on and off and checking which bus was powered up in the coach.

This box works great.. one thing is very important, it makes a big difference which side is pluged into the 15 amp plug. If it keeps tripping the breaker change sides with the 15 amp plug. I've been running both my ac units and microwave at a 30 amp campground.. great product..

50 Amp Adapter works Fine

I've had this adapter in my coach for two years and find that it has enabled me to run both A/C units and all electrical appliances. As indicated in the instructions, you can not use the one "side" of the adapter on a GFCI protected circuit. So either you need to use two 30 amp recepticles or a 30 and a non-GFCI recepticle or two 20 amp non-GFCI protected recepticles. (you may want to pick up another 30 amp to 20 amp converter plug).

Works but read the instructions GFCI

This item works as advertised. The adapter does not work with a GFCI recepticle so you won't be able to use the second plug if the recepticle is protected with a GFCI circuit. Other than that, works as advertised. I used the one 30 amp outlet and borrowed a 30 amp from the neighbor who wasn't using it....of coure that requires an extension cord.

Works like a charm. I purchased in September 2004 and has worked in many 30 amp campgrounds. Keep in mind that it will NOT work with a 20 amp GFI circuit. It will work with twin 30 amp circuits or a 30 amp and a non-GFI 20 amp circuit. In fact when at home I use just that - a 30 amp and a non-20 amp GFI circuit.
