Heavy gauge power cords are expensive. No getting around that. That being said I have bought a lot of stuff I didn't need for my RV and haven't even used. Did I need this? No, but I love it. I have a 50 amp camper. The 50amp power cord that came with it must be around 50 ft long and it is HEAVY & cumbersome to pack & unpack. I usually boondock with no services, so my AC power options are either my 5500 watt Onan onboard genny or my little Champion 2000 inverter. The Onan Genny is overkill for my AC needs unless I want to run my air condition or microwave which is rare. I usually prefer to run my little Champion, and unpacking that heavy 50amp cord sucked. I opted to spend the money on this 30amp cord with the 50amp female end and use it instead. I am very pleased.
