We have not had a chance to use these in a camp ground setting yet, but are sure we are going to love them! They were very easy to put together and look great. We added a dimmer switch so we could control the brightness of the lights. Can't wait for our upcoming camping trip so we can show them off to our camping friends, we are sure after seeing how pretty ours look, they will want some too!

Don't let the price scare you off. These are very durable and for campers could be put up and taken down repeatily without damage. I have had to disassemble them for a residential application and the cords are heavy 16 gauge wire with thick insulation. Further they have connectors on their ends with screws to the porcelain bases that hold the bulbs. Other lights have lightweigt cords that snap into brittle bases. I have ordered 4 sets over the years for our homes. everyone comments about them. The only disadvantage is that the orange globe fades to clear if in the sun everyday like in a backyard application.

LIGHT DIMMER

August 20, 2010
I HAVE USED THESE LIGHTS FOR YEARS AND LOVE THEM. TARGET AMONG OTHERS HAVE A SOLID STATE DROP CORD/DIMMER SWITCH FOR UNDER $20.00. I USE 40 WATT BULBS AND DIAL THE LIGHTS FROM VERY DIM TO ENOUGH LIGHT TO READ THE PAPER. THE LIGHTS LOOK GREAT AND MAKE FINDING YOUR TRAILER A SNAP WHEN IT IS DARK AND YOU ARE IN A STRANGE PARK. ONE SIDE BENEFIT OF THE LIGHTS IS THEY DON'T SEEM TO BRING IN BUGS, BECAUSE OF THE COLORS.

Like everyone else -- I found them to be too bright with 60-watt bulbs -- I went with 15- watt and a dimmer switch -- PERFECT -- maybe they should build in a dimmer switch as a feature of the light set. Anyway, I really like them, hope to have them for years!

Have used these since 2001

I saw these lights at Camping World in 2001, just after we purchased our new camper. My son saw me gawking at them and surprised me with a set. We put 15 watt bulbs in each one, or yes, they are way too bright. We have had not problems with the quality or service of these lights and use them at least 4-5 times a year on different trips. The hooks are still well seated in the top of each light and no globes have cracked or faded. They are still as beautiful as the day I got them and I'm always proud to hang them from our awning. Purchase the awning roller hangers ($7-8 for a package) to go with them - and hanging them is a two-minute breeze.

Works well for me

I have had this light set for about 2 years and have not had any problems with them. Each light comes with an attached hook above the light making it easy to hang below the awning using the hangers that slide into the roller tube channel. If you use 60w bulbs, yes it is very bright. However, you can use any standard base bulbs of any wattage up to 60w, including compact flourescent bulbs (thus reducing your amperage). 15w incandescent bulbs or low wattage fluorescent works well.

These not only look nice but add alot of light with a 40watt bulb. I wouldn't go higher that that it will be too much light.

I purchased the multi-colored set and have used them several times. I found 60 watt bulbs extremely bright and currently use 40 watt cfls to conserve energy, giving more than sufficient light. I also have them attached to a timer. Always receive many compliments from other campers.

disappointing multicolored lights

Read some good reviews on these lights so i went for the multi colored lights and was disappointed when i opened the box. i only got three colors ,red , blue ,yellow. not what they show on the box or add. looked all over box and no where does it say colors may very. searched on line to get more colors and can only find two replacement globes ,bronze and clear. i would not recommend this to anyone who wants all different colors. but the lights do look like there worth the money spent.

These lights are extremely well made. What I did is I got flourescent light bulbs and put them in as regular filiment bulbs might not stand the bouncing and so forth of a trailer moving down the road. 60 watt is actually too bright. You should try to get 40 watt flourescent bulbs or buy a pack of 6-8 relatively cheap and spray a little paint on the 60's to take down a little of the light. The set is very nice and stores easily. I bought a small rubbermaid storage bin and the six globes with cord fit very nicely. Good price too, they are $105.00 at my local RV dealer. Highly recommend!!

Very Nice Lights

These lights are very nice. I used 40 watt bulbs and they are bright. The globes are very colorful and are made of a heavy plastic. I purchased them to replace some lesser expensive lights, and I don't regret spending the extra money. The cord is heavy duty. I expect they will last me a long time. In my opinion, well worth the money.

Great lights but don't break a colored globe

March 07, 2004
I think they are the greatest as far as design, neatness of the coiled wires, and uniform illumination. Like others have mentioned, I would recommend a dimmer switch. Can be a bit bright even with lower wattage bulbs. My only problem is that I broke the yellow globe while pulling them out of the box the first day. Granted, it was my own stupidity but quite frustrating that replacement globes other than clear and bronze are not offered. It has taken a couple calls to get one special ordered. A little pricey but well worth it. You definately get what you pay for...

Best of Looks and Quality

These lights are by far the best Patio Lights I've ever seen. The quality is exceptional. The colors are beautiful. Easy to put up and take down. No more stringing up rope and globes falling off. I rigged a dimmer switch up for mine and use the 60 watt bulbs, which gives me the amount of light needed for whatever situation. Even though they appear to be pricey, you will know why when you see them......Do not hesitate to buy.....you will probably never have buy another set.....Plenty of compliments from fellow RV'ers

Prismatic Globe Lights Are Absolutely Great!

November 15, 2003
These are the best quality awning lights that I have ever had. They have a great coiled cord that makes it great to store back in the original boxs, this helps to keep them clean and unbroken, six come in a set, have hooks on them and the cord is long enough for a 16 ft awning, no extension cord needed. You can use up to a 60w lightbulb, I have a dimmer swich that I use so I can set the amount of light that I need at anytime. The best thing about the globes is that you can change the colors for diffrent events and holidays. Camping world can special order the different colors that you need, ask for tech support when you call. You will pay a little more for the special order but it is worth it when so many campers telling you how great they look.

Patio lights

These are the best quality awning lights I've seen anywhere. Much better than the "Christmas type" lights you'll see in campgrounds. The coiled cords make them very easy to store back in their original box, thus keeping them clean and unbroken. I use the small 25W ceiling fan lightbulbs in them. Each light has a hook on top molded into the plastic, makes it very easy to hang from your slide in awning tube "S" hooks. This light set should last many years with normal care and just looks great! My kids say their RV is easy to find at night, they just look for the "rainbow lights"!
