This Charbroil Portable Outdoor Firebowl Model 10501572 is a nicely made compact unit that comes with the convenince of a canvas s...torage bag. However, it does not include a cover for storing outside between uses even though the instructions advise covering it so that it doesn't rust. Be sure to shop before you buy.
Only when I got to the store to pick one up did I learn the
manufacturer - Char-Broil. Since the info here is scant I
thought I... would see how what I could learn from their web site.
Then I realized that the $88.xx price at CW was much higher
than the list price at the Char-Broil web site, and that I
could order it from them for $59.99. I never thought of CW
as the low price leader, but I didn't think of them as a
giant rip-off either.
I was at CW because of some big Grill Fest sale and the sale
price was lower, so I bought it. I have assembled it but
haven't used it yet. I couldn't help feeling a little slimy
though as I left CW.
I purchased this fire pit over other bigger ones because it was portable and had a carry case. The legs are a bit whimpy so make ...sure you get it push in the ground for more stability. Also you need very small cut logs to fit the shallow bowl. So if you want a fire while camping at a place that won't let you dig a dirt pit this was an ok option.
Works exactly as described, very happy with it. As far as rusting, page 5 of instructions states While formulated to withstand ...high temperatures, painted surface can fade, peel, and eventually rust due to the extreme, damaging heat that wood-burning fires can produce.
I just purchased this from Camping World for a week of camping with friends. We had a fire nightly and it worked great. We liked t...he portability and saw at least 4 more people using the same fire pit. The only downfall was and the only reason I am giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is the zipper
broke the fire time we went to zip it up in the carrying pouch. We were still able to store it in there and we have a spot for it in our RV, but for people who would depend on it that would be a bummer!
Though we haven't used the Fire Bowl yet, I have put it together and then packed it away in its nicely-made, heavy-duty zippered s...torage bag, and I'm impressed with the design. It can serve as a fire pit or a wood barbeque grill and goes together easily. I'm hoping it
functions as well as it seems likely to!
Very nice with Duraflame logs. A little shallow for burning regular firewood. Great backup when there is no regular
fire pit. C...arrying case very handy. Suggest putting cardboard or other protection between metal parts to avoid
denting and scratching when traveling. Cooking grate is a nice touch but I will probably never use.
We used it for the 1st time this weekend and was really impressed! We used it as a fire pit one night and then the next night used... it to cook on. Both times it was great. Love the case it comes in and very happy with our purchase.
I love my firebowl. It has everything I was looking for.. I can use it as a campfire or as a grill. It comes with a lid lifter and... storage bag.Set up & assembly are very easy. When I'm ready, I just fold it up put it in the bag and load it into the outside side storage. I have an older RV & thought I woild have to transport it inside but it is just the right width.
This fire pit is perfect for campgrounds that don't allow ground fires. It's very portable and stores great in our rv. Set up and ...break down takes just minutes. I only gave four stars because it is quite small.
We received this item about a week ago, and just got around to assembling it last night. Pretty easy assembly, except for one thin...g: the swivel pin holes on two of the legs are drilled just slightly out of position, and those two legs won't fold closed properly. It's not too big a deal, since you can remove each leg completely in about three seconds. We decided
not to return the unit over such a minor complaint. For the amount we paid, the unit is pretty solid, and lighter than I had hoped. Got too windy last night to start the fire, even in the firebowl, so I can't speak to how well it works for a campfire. I suspect that it's a little shallow for anything other than small logs or kindling, unless you leave the screen off. We'll hope to see how it works with a little back pation hotdog roast tomorrow.
Ideal for a ready made, safe and portable fire pit. Stores neatly in it's own cover. Allows
you too locate your evening visit wi...th neighbors without worrying about embers up under or on your awning. Have always stayed away from the park fire pits because they were situated too near the coach. Now we can enjoy an evening fire, cook on the grate, and place the screen over the fire to reduce the chance of embers escaping and creating a hazard. When the unit cools down, the legs can be removed and the whole thing zips up in it's own bag for storage, inside or out of the RV. Unlike a permanent campfire, you are
insured that the fire is out and no chance of spreading to the forest/grass'.
This product is perfect for taking in our RV. It is large enough to have a nice fire and folds compactly enough to be easy to stor...e. It appears to be of good quality construction and I think it will serve us well for many years
We haven't used our bowl yet because of the fire restrictions, but the product was what we were looking for. It's a nice product, ...it should work out just fine and it also came with a carring case which is nice to store it in our trailer. We can't wait to give it a try.
We purchased this fire bowl to use at campsites without fire pits. It turned out to be everything we expected it to be. It is just... the right size and we love the way it packs-up for storage. If I could make any changes to it, I would like to see it made from a heavier material. I just wonder how long it will last? Still worth the money spent.
After purchasing the unit, yesterday we decided to assemble the
unit in preparation for camping next spring. Everything went
tog...ether as per assembly instruction, however as I folded
the 4 legs so I could place in the carrying bag one of the
legs would not fold down completely. As I examined the
problem I found that the pivot pin hole was drilled
incorrectly. Rather than spend the money on gas to return
it to the store I made the modification so the leg would
clear the frame and fold properly.
Looking forward to burning wax logs and having a campfire
next spring while camping.
The unit appears quite flimsy, however it is light and easy
to store. Sadly, there is no provision to issue a comment
when registering the warranty with Char-Broil. They could use
better quality control at the factory.
My portable firebowl arrived yesterday. I too had to modify one of the legs before I could
use it. The box says designed and tes...ted in the USA, but manufactured in China. And
the instructions advise not to overload and only use two or three logs. The picture on
the box clearly shows at least four logs on the fire. Also, the instructions warn you
twice, ONLY use untreated wood for fuel. The pictures on the box shows them
cooking using charcoal! So, what are you really supose to do?
This portable firebowl is easy to transport, quick to set up and holds an ample amount of wood for a really nice campfire. Nice to... know that at the end of the night, when the fire has burned down you can place the screen over the bowl and not to have to worry about the coals and ashes blowing around. There are two things that I have done with
mine. 1) I drilled 6 small holes in the bowl to let rain water drain. 2) The bowl seems to rust up fairly easily, so after I get home from a camping trip I clean it up and give it a quick shot of fresh black paint - only takes a few minutes. I would recommend this product.
I am sorry I can not rate this product. It is a Christmas gift and still in the box. Will probably not be used until next spring o...r summer. But was purchased because it looks like it is exactly what we are looking for.
Was pleasantly surprised at how fast it came. Upon opening, was impressed with the packaging, and instructions. Easy to put togeth...er, and set up to use. Was extremely impressed with the carry case, expected something like a pvc bag, got a contoured, fitted, pocketed heavy duty carry case that will last for years. It all fits well in the case, and takes up very little space in the underbody box. Great product, we have really enjoyed!!!
upon arrival this unit went together without a single problem! It was
packed well so the shipping damage to the carton was just ...that - to the carton only. We
have since used this unit about a dozen times in the past three weeks. Easy to empty
and clean. We don't use the screen cover on it until the flames have died down to just
smoldering coals. Haven't tried cooking anything on it and probably won't - we just enjoy
sitting beside the fire, reading and having a cup of hot chocolate on these chilly nights.
Glad we bought it!!
Easy to assemble and fits in the zip up case easily. Used it on my recent trip for BBQ and
wood fire. Clean up of ash was easy. ...Too early to comment on durability but it has worked
well for the price.
We purchased this for our motor home and have used it many times. It's light weight and bag make it the perfect choice for RV'ers.... Easy to clean and the perfect height for a warming fire, marshmallow toasting and roasting hot dogs, all the things our grandchildren love. What more could you want?
