Description

Rugged Swagman Bike Racks are easy loading and require no straps.
RVs generate exponentially more stress on bike racks than do cars and trucks. These Swagman Bike Racks are built and tested for use on the rear of RVs.

Padded V-shaped gripper cradles hold bikes securely in place. Locking knob secures bikes with just a twist. Ample spacing between cradles makes loading bikes easy. Towing models allow tight turns and fit over any Class III drawbar. Standard models fit any Class III 2" hitch receiver. Cold-rolled steel with corrosion-resistant powder coat finish. Minimum 10" L drawbar required.

  • Transports up to 3 bikes.

  • Flexible top plate to accommodate different bike sizes

  • Soft Kraton Cushions help protect your bike and provide additional gripping power

  • Recommended for the back of RV's and motorhomes

    Note: Hitch extender sold separately.

    Works great

I purchased this to carry bikes on the back of my Winnebago Vista. I used an extra long receiver (10 from pin hole to end of bar, from etrailer.com). System worked fine. Plenty of room to hitch on a boat. Very solid unit. Only complaint is that the rectangular box at the base (that the receiver goes through) could have been made a bit longer, that would make the unit a bit more staple

I used the rack for the first time this weekend. It took some looking around and thought to make the rack work. The base is rather wide on the hitch and I couldn't find one that would accommodate the bike rack and still be able to secure the hitch to the RV. None of the hitches I could find were long enough. I finally was able to use an adapter to obtain the necessary length. After that it worked fine.

    Better than we hoped

The rack is solid and performs well. You may run into difficulties with bikes with rear shocks due to the attachment point interfering with balanced mounting to the crossbar. We were unable to balance the bike with a rear shock evenly and the rack still did fine. Very pleased with the purchase.

    Great Bike Rack

I was usie 3 Bike Towing Rack. I have it mounted on the back of our motorhome so I can tow a VW Beetle. I had 2 bikes on the rack & was towing our 1972 VW Beetle on I-5 when traffic came to a sudden stop. I was able to stop but the fully loaded dump truck behind us was not. It plowed into the back of our Beetle & oushed the Beetle into the bike rack. The Swagman bike rack kept the Beetle from slamming into the back of our Motorhome. Both Bikes were damaged, the tow hitch was bent but the bike rack was undamaged it completely stopped the VW from hitting the Motorhome. Here is a pic of the front of the VW. http://we2rv.com/72BugPics/BarneyRIP/barneywebpage/BarneyRIP2.jpg More pics can be seen at this page: http://we2rv.com I am really glad I had your rack if I had a lighter weight rack the back of our motor home would have had a lot of damage. I highly reccommend this Bike Rack Mike

I bought this from Camping World several years ago and it has worked great - never given my any problem. I bungie my bikes together to minimize the movements of the bikes.

Was the description the same as it is now?

If you read the product description, it clearly states the following: "Standard models fit any Class III 2" hitch receiver. Cold-rolled steel with corrosion-resistant powder coat finish. Minimum 10" L drawbar required." It spells out the need for a 10" L drawbar. Did the description change, or did the unsatisfied customers not read the description?

The product description says you will need at least a 10 inch drawbar. The negitive comments seem to be related to this, reading the infomation before buying would have solved these problems. This carrier works great when used as intended!

The first review on this rack is not fair. Some people are not qualified to review anything. The directions for this rack tell you to obtain a 10" hitch. The beauty of this rack is you can mount it and still tow all your other toys. How could anyone expect this type of rack to work with a 2" hitch. I bought a 10" one for $28 and everything works great. Swagman makes great racks.

This is a great solid bike rack. Easy installation, easy to use and very secure. The rack is solid, well manufactured and the locking/retaining features seem far superior to other racks I have seen.

    Nice Convenient Rack

This rack is very sturdy and has locks for security. The rack locks to the receiver and the bikes lock to the rack with ease. It would be nicer if it only used one key for both, but plenty spare keys are provided. It comes with only minimal effort to have it fully assembled. The only draw back I have seen is that for it to work with my 9"drop down receiver, I had to grind some of the reinforcing weld off of the receiver. This was the only way for the rack to allow the receiver to slide into the hitch far enough to put the pin in it. I would still highly recommend this product.

This rack is equal to or better than most three bike carriers. Monting on a class III bar still leave plenty of room for hooking up your tow dingy.... Great stuff!
