Upgrade your old, inefficient powered vent easily without replacing the entire vent or disturbing the rooftop seal.
Just replace the existing screen and small 12-volt fan with the Vortex fan kit to turn your roof vent into a powerful ventilation system. This kit upgrades your present powered roof vents into a powerful high velocity air movement system in just minutes. The Vortex I is a single speed fan.
Installation is easy with only a Phillips head screwdriver! Just take out the current screen, garnish and motor and replace it with the Vortex system. Non-powered vents can be converted with additional wiring.
Over 300% more air movement than standard small vent fans
Easy installation with only a screwdriver
Requires no tampering with the rooftop vent seal
Universal fit for use with Ventline, Jensen and Elixir powered vents
The Vortex replacement Vent Fan is the best upgrade I have seen in a while. I replaced the stock bathroom vent with this on my Geo...rgetown and very pleased with the way it operates, it moves as much air as the Fantastic Vent.
Who needs instructions when you have common sense. It took longer to get the tools together than it do to install the fan. They ...could have placed the wires on the other side but my leads were long enough to reach. Now they need to put a pull chain for the fan w/auto open on the lid. Well worth the money.
My old fan assembly four fan blades had gone bad. So I replaced the whole assembly with this item. Oh, this unit is so much better.... I use it in the bathroom. It will cause the shower curtain and the toilet paper to flap around just a bit.
Very easy to install , but it is nice to have second pair of hands to hold fan while
connecting the wires . It is much quieter th...an original fan. The vent knob is a bit snug
against the screen when adapter plate is used but should not cause a problem. The instructions are not really needed for most DIYers but they could be written with
a bit more clarity .
I received this fan replacement it was shipped to my doorstep. Installation
was fairly simple. I was really surprised by the amo...unt of air this fan moves. If you leave
the bathroom door open it will actually suck the door closed. It is not super quiet,
however, was much quieter than the original bathroom vent fan. I wish I had purchased
this several years ago. The price is right. I rate this as
an excellent replacement for the mickey mouse fan the manufacturers install.
This fan is a great substitute for replacing bathroom vent with a much more expensive vent and fan together. It was a literal pain... in the neck to install though. Very difficult to hold up in place while tring to get the vent gear lined up and to catch the holes in the old frame with sheet metal screws. Had to have wife try to support it while I changed wires, lined up, holes correctly and got the screws to catch while keeping it in place.
Once installed works great. Screen is easy to remove and clean and it makes no more noise than the tiny mosquito buzz fan that was there. Dont like the knob though- would prefer crank handle that would be faster and easier for wife to turn. Your vent cushions wont fit any more but it blocks out most of light through vent anyway.
I purchased a new RV that was equipped with the small Ventline fan in the bathroom. It
was noisy and did not exhaust the steam f...rom the shower. My previous unit had a
Fantastic fans that did a good job. I was looking for an alternative so not to disturb the
original roof seal. Saw this and thought I would try it first. Installation was easy, about 20 mins.
The directions were adequate but poorly printed. The fan is noisy but so was the large Fantastic
fan I had before, no worse, It does exhaust the shower steam as good as the original fan
in my old unit.
Within the first 2 years of owning the trailer the orginal cheap fan blades disintigrated. I
lived without for a few more years ...before I discovered this product. Installation was a
snap and it operates much quiter than the original. The airflow is great. Anyone with a
cheap 12V vent fan should consider this inexpensive upgrade.
We replaced our bathroom fan with one of these units. My wife and I call it the B-52 ! That's what it sounds like. Install was a s...nap, and the fan moves a ton of air. Damn near sucks the TP up to the fan ! We are looking to replace
the on/off switch with a 3 way rotary switch.
The Vortex vent fan upgrade is a great product and a money saver. My only complaint, as of just having installed it, is that the ...fan blade is so out of balance that it vibrates the whole trailer with a loud, low frequency droning noise, much more annoying than the old cheap fan that came with the trailer. So I have to solve that problem ASAP. I have just sent an email to Heng's to see if they will give me a properly balanced replacement blade under warranty. If so, then I will be 100% satisfied and will report back about it either way. If I can get a balanced blade, it should run very quietly.
After a couple of uses of this fan, the plastic gears stripped and would not open or close the lid. Went to a camping supply to tr...y to get replacement parts. They had none but they called Heng and was told the parts were not available. The whole fan had to be replaced. The gears are accessible and can be replaced but they are not offered by Heng. I am very disappointed in this fan and will not buy another one from Heng.
Replacing my old fan wasn't terribly difficult but I wouldn't look forward to doing it again. Also, the new handle they inlude to ...open the vent is so large you can only turn it about 60 degrees at a time so it takes a lot of turns to fully open the vent cover.
Moves lots of air which is what I bought it for, however you probably wouldn't leave it running because of the noise.
Replaced the orginal fan in my bathroom with the Vortex fan in under an hour. The instructions on the box seemed pretty clear to m...e. The original fan was a Jensen and the instructions on the box clearly said for Jensen the gearbox needed to be moved. All this required was removing two screws, moving the box and replacing the screws. The fan moves a lot more air than the original unit and is fairly quite.
Great little fan. Sucks so much air it creates a vacumm on our bathroom door. Looks good, overall good quality, fit as easy as cla...imed, and took all of 15 minutes to install seamlessly (true my wife had to hold it up for about 2 minutes of the process). Would be 5 stars but for
two minor complaints (hello manufactorer- are you listening?). Real nice upgrade except for
the junky, plastic, tiny twenty-five cent Chineese switch. Hello, for another few cents they
could have addressed the most used and abused part on the fan with quality also! Also
when done installing to my specific replacment configuration I was left with three holes on
the casing, penetrable to insects and looking unsightly. For three cents they could have
provided optional plastic plugs. These holes must be sealed. Guess I will daub them with
white silicone. Hope they fix these two items - then this unit is a clear ten star product!
Installed in a vent that originally had no fan. Followed the instructions, it took about 45
minutes to install. It is helpful to... have a second person to hold fan up while completing installation. I was lucky, wires for power were near by. Fan is very powerful and quiet. The only reason it does not get a 5 rating, the company that supplies the instructions need to change their ink cartridge on their printer. Could just barely read instructions.
Since my wife cannot reach the crank for the vent nor the button for the fan, I extended
the handle for the vent crank. Couldn't... find a rheostat locally for fan so bought a 4
position old heater switch, ran the wires and mounted it on the wall. Now she can
reach everything and we have a great fan for venting the steam at full blast when
showering or just passing the air when needed on medium or low without the high
I found the fan fairly easy to install but the instructions could have been clearer on the old motor & wiring removal. I had to re...move the flat connectors from the motor wires and strip them to connect to the new fan. For those with issues about the noise level; I found that by loosening the fan set screw and lowering the fan a bit from the housing, the noise was reduced. Works well so far.
I'm in the HVAC industry and really don't want to know the cfm of this one, but it does what it's supose to do! It vents the bathr...oom. Great for getting out the shower steam. It may be 88% outside, but still gets the 99% out before you open the door. And using the
other way the noise is not a facter!?
Install took longer to round up the tools and get started than the time it took. Had to adapt to a 2005 Jayco, but pictures made it easy and this is really solid. I try to work from what can go wrong to what is right. Solid
Well made unit. Fan had basic directions for install on box. Took about 20 minutes to complete the install. The pre-existing small...-blade fan had its crank handle (to raise/lower the vent cover) in a slightly different location than this fan. Although the instructions on the outside of the box referred to further instructions inside for this purpose (switching crank handle location) no such paperwork was found. The crank handle assembly on the new vortex fan has two sets of mounting holes. I simply moved the crank handle assembly over to the proper holes, lined the crank gear up and that was it. The fan moves large volumes of air which is great for removing moist air while showering, odors, etc.. I recommend this upgrade for any RV or TT which is currently running a small, low volume fan. It is a bit noisy, but a minor issue for me. Keeping the bathroom well ventilated is essential. Money very well spent.
Could use a printed enclosed list of instructions with pictures? The instructions on box elude to another instruction sheet enclos...ed in box, not?Found by removing screen and fan blade, it was easier to install. With the screen and fan removed you could feel where the spline on the fan unit needed to move to line up with the cover gear spline.
We got this to replace our non working old little fan! This thing really sucks the air in, but it is a
bit noisy. It is nice to ...flip it on and get some relief from the heat. We had to make some
modifications to get it in, but it works well. I am very happy we got it. I only gave it 4 stars
because of the noise. The noise tends to get into your head after a while. Otherwise it is
Pretty simple to install, although instructions weren't real clear on making adjustments to fit different brands of
vents. Also,... screws and other spare parts weren't explained, had to go by trial and guesswork. As others have
commented, would be tons better with variable speed AND
reverse air flow. With a DPDT switch and rheostat, I added
both for under $10.
Good investment... but MaxxAir affects performance as with all fans

To begin installed in a 2000 Cardinal fifth wheel I have been talking about adding Fantastic fans in all vents for 3 years. Instal...led my first Vortex, I say first because I am buying 2 more. To set the stage I have MaxxAir vent covers on all vents so be warned that this will affect overall performance, as they do with all fans including Fantastic Fans. Does it work, yes. Is it quiet, quieter than the cheap standard bath fans of a few years ago, yes but not as quiet as a Fantastic Fan but close. Is it easy to install? I installed over bed where there was no fan before so I was converting a non powered
vent to a powered vent. Perfect for conversions. You do not have to do anything on the roof, everything is from inside. That is best part besides being easy. If you have a light next to your vent, most RV's do, drop light tap into 12v dc
wiring and now you have the required wiring for the fan. I had to snake wires only about 8-12 inches, not hard, small
hands would make it easier, but mine are big but still not hard. The wife liked it enough to suggest that I buy 2 more so I
am ordering now. The other reviewer was correct that there are no instructions other than what is on the box, contrary to the instruction on the box. The provided instructions are basic but useful. Luckily my crank lined up so no issues. I rated 4 stars because I would have liked it to have been a little quieter and it was missing instructions and a screw. We all have extra screws so no biggie. Since it was not perfect I only gave a 4. I definitely suggest that you look at this for $59.95 - vs- $200.00. If the folks at Fantastic Fan are smart they will look at doing this with their product and cash in on the ease and cost. If you are good with electricity you can install a DPDT switch and reverse the fan direction for pulling in air as well as exhausting air, making the value even higher Highly recommend product.
We read a few reviews that complained about the noise. It's not noisy at all compared to the litttle 4 fan that didn't move any ai...r. My air purifier makes more noise that this. It really moves a lot of air too. It'll suck the bathroom door closed if you have it pulled to.
The replacement of the small fan in my vent with the vortex fan only took a few minutes. It was easy and certainly provided more c...irculation. If you couple this with the vent that you can put on a window it really works well. I found that the fan lined up well with my existing vent and the open and close knob worked well. The cost is certainly not near as much as the $250 model fan system.
I ordered this Vortex fan online from Camping World and it arrived very fast as usual. The installation was very easy. The hardest... part was running the wiring to it as the vent was not powered to start with. As far as noise I don't think it is that bad. The vent fan in my bathroom is alot louder. The one in my bathroom will be replaced with a Vortex very soon.
I purchased this unit about 3 months ago. Installation was simple even though the gears were off at first. I realized that the gea...r mech was movable and once I did that it worked fine. Not as quiet as I thought it should be but it does displace a lot of air.
Note: Make sure you inspect your vent cap also. My coach was less than 1 year old and right after I replaced the fan, the cap fell apart while I was cleaning the roof. Sun deterioration I guess. When I replaced the cap I also sprayed it with white paint for plastic. Has some UV properties. I would recommend this instead of disturbing the
I received my new Vortex replacement fan in good order with all the necessary
hardware. The fan size was an exact match to the f...actory fan, required no
modifications. The fan install in about 25 minutes which included re-installation of trim
hardware. The fan is much quieter than the old facture fan; I was pleased with the
amount of air this fan moves.
Good for older RV's, but instructions need revision

Installed 2 in an older 5th wheel. Instructions need revision but an average owner should be able to figure it out..
I never fo...und instructions where it said to put the screw into the lever winder and cog mechanism. Worked ok on 1st fan without it (I'll still fix that), but was needed on the 2nd to ensure the cover would open/close.
Based on 2 installs, sometimes it's easy to get the mounting screws in, and the very next install can be a challenge. It's just luck of the draw.
The original bathroom fan was an older Jensen, and instructions didn't line up. The spacer for that install didn't work as it didn't allow the gear systems to mate, and after 5-6 attempts I worked it out and got it working. Lesson learned is to be sure you can open/close the cover manually before screwing too many parts in.
All in all, it's a good fan especially for an older unit where you really don't want to put the roof chalking/seals at risk. When it's time to really change it, then I'll put in a higher end Fantastic fan.
I bought this to replace the cheapo fan that they put in the bathroom vents. The old ones let moisture build up during an average ...shower. This new Vortex moves air so fast, you can feel it being sucked under bathroom door. No steam on mirror after a hot shower anymore. This is an awesome mod for the money.
I had noticed moisture on the ceiling of my bathroom after showering this spring.
Decided that need to be addressed. I saw an ad... for the Vortex replacement fan and read the reviews of it before ordering one. What an amazing difference. So easy to put in. No more than an hour and I went slowly to make sure I did everything according to the directions. No problems.
The amount of air pulled by the fan so much more than the original fan. If a window is open, you can actually see the curtains being pulled by the flow of air. Wish I'd done this sooner. Moisture problem is solved. And, I don 't find the noise lever bad at all. Of course it's a big improvement over the other fan.
Installs very easily but mine had no instructions inside the box as the back instructions stated it should. The vent gear did not... line up and needed to be moved - instructions said to read instructions inside on how to do that - well there weren't any and I searched and searched the web to no avail. I think I figured it out, I have a screw left over so
who knows. Fan switch is mounted opposite the original so the wires are pulled pretty tight. It does definitley move air but is not quiet at all. We will try for awhile and then decide whether to put the original back in or not. I may add a pot to it so I can vary the speed.
This fan was cheap and easy to install. No modifications were needed to install this. The only down side of this fan is that it is... a little noisy. This fan really moves some air. I mounted my in the bathroom and is a good place for it. I would not have put this over the bed because of the noise. If you have smoke (from cooking) steam or strange bathroom smells this fan moves it out for you.
Bought two of these. One for the inadequate exhaust fan in the bathroom that came
with the camper and one for the main living a...rea. Both work great, when you are in the
bathroom you can actually feel the air being sucked in from under the door. I would
recommend this to anyone. They are louder than the OEM fan, but the air movement is
great. Wish I would have done this sooner.
Product is as advertised. It moves an extraordinary amount of air. It's no more noisy than the original little buzzsaw. Installati...on is a breeze. It in fact blocks some sunlight thru the vent and keeps the room cooler. Highly recommended upgrade.
It was very easy to install. Quality is good. As noted in other reviews , it is a bit noisey. Given the power it has the noise ... is not a problem. I would recomend this for a quick up grade from the OEM fan.
I used this to replace the small factory fan in the bathroom of my travel trailer. It
provides a nice breeze from any open windo...ws while it's on. It's a little noisy, kind of ramps up and whines while running, but not too loud. This works out fine since it is used in the bathroom, but probably not good for over a bed.
I am very happy with the Vortex upgrade for quietness and improved air movement verses the OME ultra loud Ventline. I feel it is a... well engineered product but I had clearance problems with the install due to a lot of excess vinyl roof material around the vent roof opening that the old Ventline was in. Not wanting to disturd the roof material, I finally cut
off the 2 small tabs on all four sides of the Vortex. Putting the screw in the opposite side of the frame that the crank is on helped me get the correct alinement for the crank. Connecting the wires was a fight also, I removed screen and fanblade assembly so I could reach the wires to make a proper connection. I am embarrassed to admit the total time for install but it was over 2 hours
I installed one of these fans with a slight modification. I bypassed the original switch and wired the fan to a wall switch. I the...n replaced the original built in switch with a push button double pole double throw switch and wired that so I could reverse the air flow from out to in. While taking showers It sucks the hot / moist air out and in the evening I reverse the air flow with the new switch and the fan pulls
in cool fresh air from outside. It works great. That seems like something they should have designed into the fan at
the factory or at least had it as an option. There is enough room on the fan housing that a new reversing switch can be
added to the fan and still use the original power switch built into the fan. My wife just couldn't reach the switch in the ceiling, thus the wall switch option.
OK, so I had to waite a couple of weeks for the back ordered fan, was well worth it, was
easy to install in my C-Class and all t...he parts were there for modifacations of different
makes of fans, can't beleive the amount of air it moves and quieter than the original small
fan it replaced.
I replaced my bathroom fan with this unit and I am completely satisfied with it, Very quick and easy installation. After replacing... the bathroom fan I bought two
more. One for the bedroom and another for my front roof vent. Best replacement fans for the money for sure! I would
recommend these replacement fans to anyone looking for a low cost , easy to install replacement fan!
This fan is very functional and is about as described-a tad noisy but with good suck. The
difficulty in installation involves ge...tting the fan assembly aligned with the existing vent
crank shaft while holding it in position in the vent opening. With patience, it gets done. I
powered it from AC via a Wagan 5 Amp, 12 VDC converter. Looks good and works well.
Easy to install and works flawlessly. Should have bought this a long time ago. Doesnt require you to get on your roof and mess u...p your seals. Just a few screws and connect 2 wires and it is working way better than the little fan it replaced
I installed this in a truck camper bathroom vent that did not have a fan. The camper was wired for a fan so it was a simple task t...o install this upgrade and I'm glad I did. It is no noisier than the standard bathroom vent fans that come with most RVs and moves a lot more air. The only drawback that I can see is that it does block quite a bit of light coming
in the vent.
It does not SUCK and It does not Blow , Its Great!!

I went to my local camping world store and picked up the Vortex fan. (standard model) It took me approximately an hour and half t...o finish installing it but it was relatively easy the hardest part was that an old Jansen fan handle would not align correctly with the Vortex. So I went to the instructions and found that there is a device to attach to the fan to make
sure that it all links properly.Once I connected all the wiring and turned it on it does a fantastic job, It has a lot more
blades than the old one and the speed is a lot faster . I opened a couple of vents in the trailer and you could feel the air coming in through all of vents…. for the price this is a great find, It was what I was looking for , and easy to install, worth the money to upgrade a broken or failing fan and not difficult to install
Installed as advertised no problems instructions easy to follow Noise factor not much more than small bath fan that it replace/ bu...t a lot more air movement
Would be nice to have a reversing switch to change direction of air flow as needed
Would recommend this fan for easy install and air movement
Seems to be an okay fan, definitely more power than normal exhaust fan. It does have a whine to it, but in bathroom its okay. It... took longer to install because the unit didn't fit with the roof hatch that was there - had to use some steel washers, but works now. I would recommend it for the bathroom, but not other places in the RV. I will try a Fantastic Fan other places.
I just installed this upgrade in my new small Sunray 109 trailor. It made a world of difference with the original powered fan that... was installed by the manufacturer. It is not exactly quiet but less noisy than the original. The only
improvement that they should consider is to put a variable speed button instead of the on off swich. Certainly worth
the price in added comfort.
I installed this upgrade in a standard ventline non-powered roof vent in my rv bathroom. I tapped 12v and ground wires from my bat...hroom ceiling light. I found the installation to be simple and straight forward. I just followed the directions that came with it for my
application and did not have to make any modifications. The actual installation (after running the wires from the light) took about 15 minutes. As previous reviews indicate, the fan is very powerful and somewhat noisy. If it came with a variable speed switch I would give it 5 stars. Overall, I am very pleased with this purchase.
Cannot believe that the cheesy fan I exchanged for was actually made by the same company that made this exceptional upgrade fan. T...he Vortex actually draws enough air to close the bathroom door! You will not be disappointed with your purchase. Simple
DIY install for a confident DIY'er.
High volume fan direct replacement for original fan

We bought this fan because the original fan did not move enough air to prevent the smoke alarm from going off when cooking. Air vo...lume appears better, but haven't tested with cooking yet.
Pros: Draws no more power (~1 amp) as factory-original low-volume fan.
Finished installation looks original
Cons: Definately a 2-person job. Also, hard to balance screw on end of long philips screwdriver and hit the screw hole.
Assuming this solves my smoke-alarm problem, I would recommend this fan to others with the same problem.
Purchased the Vortex fan and it did work as described for the first couple of months then the 2 reverse speeds quit working. I was... sent a replacement , installed it and the replacement worked on all speeds for the first few months but now it only one of the reverse speeds works... if you purchased one of these check out all the speeds. It is a
pain to reinstall plus take back for a warrenty.

The Vortex Replacement vent fan is very powerful and does the job as advertised. Although a 1o00% quieter than the 6 fan that cam...e with the RV it does have an annoying high pitch
hum. I can live with that because of its performance. In addition I installed a $5.00 rheostat for speed control and is a great upgrade. Overall I'm very satisfied, took one star away for the high pitched hum.
Before purchasing this product, I read many reviews on it. The major complaint was that the fan was extremely noisy. I discovered ...the same problem. When the fan was running, the outer fan ring was rubbing against the zip tie that was holding the wiring that was going to the motor. I removed the zip tie and installed another one in a different position, thus eliminating the rubbing noise.Overall, the fan is a good purchase, with my modification.
add this to my rv replaced that small fan in the bath room with one of these before
when the fan was on it just made nose and th...e smell was still killing my wife now with
new fan in you can feel the air coming out from under the bath room door and the smell
is gone. this was so easy to put in that it was a joke
Although not quiet, it is much better than the fan that was in there. It's keeps the
bathroom free of steam and helps to pull th...e cool air in from outside so that I don't
need to turn on the A/C. I'm very satisfied and it was easy to install as well.
Ordered fan to replace the small noisy and useless fan in the bathroom. Was very
simple to replace. Had it up and going in less ...than 30 minutes. It is a little noisy, but
nothing compared to the small one that was in there. It moves a good volume of air. I
would have given it 5 stars if wasn't for the noise, but would definitely recommend it.
Upgraded my vent fan in the bathroom of my RV. I was concerned the small original fan was not doing the job. I am happy with the s...imple installation and the amount of air it moves. The one thing I wish would have been better was the amount of noise it makes. I am sure the size of the fan blade is the reason it really moves air, it does what I needed it to do.
Got this fan last fall and am well pleased with it. Had some concern about what the
noise level would be, but after installation... I measured the noise level and found it to
actually be it to be in the normal conversation range. this was a bit surprising after
reading reviews where the noise level was the main complaint. I went to radio shack
and purchased a dpdt switch and installed it in the corner opposite the on/off switch
and configured it for reversing so now I can run the fan as a ventilator or exhaust fan.
My main concern is that the vent this is supposed to be a direct replacement for Ventline and requires a 360 degree knurled knob f...or the vent open/close mechanism to attach properly. My original vent gear was keyed instead of knurled. As in it was a round shaft with a flat spot on one side. In my case, I was able to get a different vent opening mechanism from a different vent cover that did not have an original fan in it. The Vortex seems to move quite a bit of air. I put mine in the main living area and it is a bit louder than expected, but not a big deal unless trying to watch TV. Will likely install another in the garage so I can use it to cut the noise.
Yes, it is easy to install, if you have three hands. Kind of tight working in a 5th wheel toilet
compartment, but it was done in... one hour. The install will go easier if you have a
magnetic screwdriver and an awl in your shirt pocket so you won't have to reach to far.
The awl is to line up the screw holes. The fan really moves the air and is just a little
noisier than the stock fan. Be sure to get a Ventline BVO199-03 replacement switch.
One tube of sealant usually works with a single 14"x14" vent. The size of the bead being laid affects yield, 1/4" may get around 24 linear feet, where 1/2" may net 6 linear feet for theoretical yield.
