Good purchase. This "gadget" lets you adjust the water pressure coming into your rig instead of making you stay with the fixed pr...essure of a standard regulator. I have mine set at 60 PSI and it makes a big difference in taking showers or doiing dishes. One caveat: if you have a water
hookup but no sewer you'll need to watch it somewhat as your tanks will fill up faster. This has not proven to be a problem for us.
Easy hookup to your hose and water outlet. Worked like a charm and provided a decent flow rate even with the default setting of 45.... Well pressure here in Id. @ my middle daughters home was around
75 lbs ouch! We only discovered that after several day here but no damage resulted.
Suggest, if possible, you hook it up where you can hide it in your water bay area; to prevent loss.
I have two RV's and I use the Adjustable Water Regulator for both of them. I have found that the pre-set water regulators
do do n...ot work as well. I have found parks where the water flucuates a lot. The adjustable regulator is great. I now
have two of them.
We found it to work very well. Depending on the water pressure at some parks we needed to adjust it. Not a problem. Would have giv...en it a 5 if it had
had an adjustment knob on it instead of using a screw driver.
My biggest complaint is that there are no instructions on how to use the regulator (which is the in or out end for the water), and... its maintenance and care. The only information on how to install is an arrow pointing to one end of the regulator embedded on the side (visible in the CW picture). The adjustment for pressure was supposed to be preset at
45psi, but it never shows that pressure on the meter. It often shows more pressure, up to 70psi. The Valterra website has no information what-so-ever to help. The regulator is not
cheap and I believe all RV'ers need one, but for that amount of money I would expect more information. We are full time RV'ers and must protect our investment and I want access to all the information on how something works in the RV that I can get.
I permanently installed this before my RV sediment filter, so it took a little modification with some special fittings. However, I... have a better feeling about my water lines now being protected from pressure surges, etc. I've only used it once so far, but it appears to be a quality unit.
We have used the regular water regulators for years. I often wondered if they were
accurate. When we received this regulator I c...ompared the water flow between the two
items. It is a noticable difference. The water pressure is higher with the adjustable
regulator and we are very much pleased and would recomment this item to all rv'ers.
Simple to use, works great. Has a much higher flow rate than cheaper regulators. Don't waste time or money on a cheaper regulator,... you get what you pay for. I replaced a cheaper regulator with this one and what a change. Water flow in the camper is fantastic now. It comes preset to 45psi and with a flat screwdirver you can adjust it. 65psi is fine for new RVs. As for the person complaining about not having directions to tell him which end was in or out, well, you don't need directions to tell. It only will hook up one way and the big arrow on the side of it is a dead giveaway. You just can't fix stupid.
Have not had the opportunity to use this on a trip as of yet, but will next week. This is a replacement for a current piece of equ...ipment. I was looking for a product that would protect my water system, but also give me the flexibility to increase pressure as needed. Conducted online research, looked at what other had while at parks and spoke with fellow
campers. This unit came out on top. Upon arrival saw unit was well built and instructions for
adjustment were easy to follow. I would give it five stars if it had an easy attachment knob.
This thing does exactly what I wanted it to do. Using non-adjustable water pressure regulators left my pressure too weak. Now, set...ting this one at 55psi, it is perfect. Directions ARE included in spite of other reviews; look inside the cardboard insert! Also, suggest you
follow them. If you do, you won't be able to give this item anything but 5 Stars!
Thrilled with the potential this regulator has. Won't use the trailer for another week, but
couldn't wait to try it out last nig...ht. I placed it on an outside faucet at home, attached the hose and spray nose I use to wash my vehicles, hard to tell whether there was any
reduction in volume. Very impressive. Can't wait to put it to the test Thanksgiving
We were at a MH rally and the regulator was on for four days when it suddenly broke
where the female end screws into the unit. U...nfortunately, we were not at the RV park
when it happened. Our next door neighbor saw the water shooting out and turned it off.
Although it worked fine for four days, I was a little upset that it broke. The CW store where
I purchased it said they would replace it.
Best full-flow regulator I've found. Wife always complained of low volume of water using
the cheaper ones. She's a happy camper ...now. This is actually the third one I've
purchased. Nothing wrong with the 1st two. I simply left them behind at campgrounds. I
wrote my phone number on this one in case a good samaritan finds it still on the faucet.
This worked great for a few years and then failed. I tried repairing it, without luck. When it fails, it stops regulating and allo...ws full water pressure to your RV. Just a word of caution. I would have given it five stars if it was repairable and fail safe. I plan to buy another one.
My review, below, very quickly caught Valterra's attention and they offered to send me replacement parts, free, to repair the regu...lator. I received them a few days later and the regulator works fine now. Be sure to contact them if you have a problem with this product, and I would assume any of their other products.
Wow! Works EXACTLY as advertised! No more worries about blown water lines! With
an older model 5th wheel water pressure was an o...n-going concern. With this regulator I
can dial it down to safe and not sorry pressure.
Because water pressure varies from Campground to Campground/State to State, a water
pressure regulator is a must and if your sys...tem is set up with higher than 40 PSI
tolerances then have the ability to adjust and gauge it is a must. I love mine and would
highly recommend it even at the higher price.
I bought this unit to replace an inexpensive regulator - mainly because of low water
flow. This ADJ regulator gives me the flow ...I need for my 41 ft Motor Home and I know
the pressure at just a glance. It is worth the extra $$ to have the coach piping system
Works very well. Much better than the fixed pressure regulators that are common. I like
my pressure around 35 psi, and this does... it. There is about a 5 psi drop between no flow
and flow though, but still this gives you the option to set your pressure where you want it.
I purchased this product because the standard 45-55 psi regulator did not deliver enough
water and pressure after going through ...a filter. My RV will run 80 psi. This adjustable
regulator works very well. I set it at 75 psi to stay under my unit rating. I now have
enough water and good pressure without worrying about bursting lines. I am very
pleased with this product and recommend it to anyone that wants more water and
pressure at the fawcet.
We were using our 30 lbs limiter since we purchased our coach
new last year. This is exactly what we needed because it
allowed u...s to adjust up our pressure just a little bit more
while also protecting the plumbing on the inside. Faster
flow, great product.
saves having a pressure gauge and separate regulator or restrictor. Mounted it directly
to the filter I was using so the system ...sets up quick and provides protection for all lines
and the coach plumbing. Like the all metal construction, metal hose fittings and quality
gauge. Nice unit for a reasonable price.
I bought this hoping for a great regulator to adjust the pressure for comfortable showers without going over the RV maximum. I lov...ed the pressure gauge. It started leaking the second time used. It sprayed the neighbors campsite because I was unable to tighten it. I ended up getting another standard type regulator with a higher pressure limit and that did the trick.
I purchased my first one and it lasted less than a week. I took it back and was given a second one. It too lasted less than a week.... It broke in the same spot on both. I purchased the replacement warranty but the closest CW is 80 miles away. When I brought back the first one I was told they were aware of the problem and checked each one. So how do you check a cheap Chinese brass casting? At the breaking point it looked liked pot metal. Camping World should take this product off the market and have it made in the USA.
I have a tankless water heater in my coach. I bought this regulator to have a consistent pressure. Well, I kept watching the press...ure and it wouldn't keep the
pressure the same. It was running me crazy so I replaced the gauge and so
far it's working better. The gauge on this one is better than the before model.
I don't think I would buy this model again, I would look for something better.
Was pretty delighted with the regulator when it showed up. After about three days use it developed a couple hair sized holes in th...e casting. Contacted the distributer and they sent a new one right away. I believe I've been through three replacements so far, all with the same issue. As it stands now, I have no pressure regulator and I don't think I'll bother with another.
Pros: Made of brass, Worked once , Very cool looking
When this stays in one piece, it is awesome. No problem with pressure adjustments. Everything about this regulator is great except... for the construction. I don't know if something happens when water flows through it or what. The least amount of pressure and I do mean the least amount, this meter will break. I went through two of them but I won't make it three. Valterra really needs to do something about this or quit making this regulator. Aside from the construction, this a great item.
Used 2 months, I stored in a small plastic case lined with a foam insert when not in use. Pulled it out of the case to use and whe...n I turned the water on, the gauge filled up with water? I liked the idea of adjusting the water pressure. I see it may be repairable, I will check it out. Still disappointing.
Two years ago I purchased a Valterra adjustable water regulator. After the first use the brass casting cracked. I called the compa...ny and was asked to send a picture of the broken part. After they reviewed the picture, they immediately sent me a new regulator. I noticed oil in the packaging of the new regulator, the gauge was leaking oil. After several e-mails to the company they offered to send me a new unit or a new gauge. Since I have had so much trouble, why am I giving the product a 3? Because of the customer service, they were excellent. Each time I called they worked very hard to fix the problem to my satisfaction. I also really liked the product when it worked.
I used the first one for about one year. Shortly thereafter, the gauge fluid either leaked or dried up. The gauge stopped working.... Always carry a backup regulator. Of course, out of warranty I figured this a fluke and purchased another one. It's been almost another year and so far, so good. I'm a little concerned about these reviews of these things breaking at the casting point, etc. I will treat mine with extra care. Perhaps if there are weak point(s), Camping World would do well to contact the manufacturer and report the problem or have one farmed out to be made in the USA.
I've had five (5) of these regulators. ALL have totally failed within only a few uses. The first had a pinhole leak which develope...d 2-weeks after purchase. Camping World exchanged it with a new one. The new one lasted 2-months before the gauge failed. Next season I purchased a new one. The gauge failed on this one again during it's second use. Camping World again replaced it with a new one. This new one lasted 4 outings before the gauge again failed to move. I just tried the the gauge Camping World replaced at the end of last season and, guess what, my gauge failed once again. On my last replacement, the Clerk at Camping World told me that they have more than 50% of these regulators come back and they were considering taking them off their shelves.
I bought this item last year September at Camping World in Utah. As I connected it to my water hose the first time, the outlet con...nection was broken. Next day I returned it to CW and got a new one. Now, about half a year later, the gauge showed 60 psi without pressure. I returned it to CW near El Paso and got a new one, again. This item seems not to be a high quality product. If it works, it works like it should. But that is, if it works.
Mine lasted about a year. The pressure gauge reads about 20 lbs even when it is not connected. I spend about 6 months a year in my... RV, I need a more reliable regulator than what this provides.
I expected better. What was even more surprising was the lack of sympathy from the staff at the CW in Burlington, WA. The cashier told me in no uncertain terms that I should have bought the extended protection, the manager told staff to give me the manufacturer's phone number, now that's service! CW you've lost me as a customer.
So far so good. Have only used this regulator for 2 months and appreciate the ability to increase or decrease the water pressure t...o keep the pressure at a good level in our 5th wheel. Some parks have lower pressure and some have higher pressure which is easily adjusted. The pressure in our old gauge was going down, but then it was about 15 years old. It was a non-adjustable type. So this is great being able to control the pressure. If it fails later on, I will deal with it then.
It worked great for less than a year. I wish it would have leaked or fell apart like others on here I read about, but instead it b...lew a water line apart in the floor of our coach and I had water running out on the ground. The gage read 30 pounds and when I took it off the water line it still read 30 pounds laying on the patio.
We used this product for the first time last week. The pressure gauge worked fine, but after one weeks use it fell apart when we ...removed it from the spigot. The brass casting broke at the hose connection just below the threads.
I had this for just a little over a year when the gauge literally fell off. I called customer service but it was out of warranty, ...so they could not do anything which I understood. I just didn't think when I purchased it that is was not going to last. I recommend purchasing a different one.
Unfortunately item# 49511 is the only adjustable water pressure regulator we have. Camco should have one on the market and 'Watts Water' has adjustable water pressure regulators that are lead free.

Can this be used on a residential outdoor water spigot?

I have a 75-year old house that had 120 PSI water pressure. I had the city water board install a pressure-reducer, but it regulates only pressure into the house and beyond. My front yard spigot is connected between meter and house and still has 120 psi and blows out my garden hoses at even the least opening of the valve. Can this unit be screwed between the spigot and water hose to REDUCE pressure by half?
This item is preset to 45psi, but can go lower according to your RV's needs.
