My husband purchased the bike for me in the fall. It was stored in the carport, also covered. The handlebars are rusting??? How can I provent this?

We ordered this bike for our eleven year old grandson who has Down's Syndrome. He is able to ride and control the bike and rides with his family on our local bike path. He is thrilled to enjoy his independence and more freedon with the Adventurer trike! Plus now he has a bike just like his grandma has :)
