Give your patio awning maximum protection from rips and tears.
Stop noisy, damaging awning flapping with the secure holding power of the straps. Bigger body, pad, strap and knob give you secure holding power with easy release. Soft pads grip without marring, staining, sticking or slipping. No holes, notches or rivets or tools required to assemble. Works with screen room in place. Made of durable, UV-stabilized nylon with polymer straps. Set of 2. USA.
These are priced reasonably and shipping was fast. They are easily installed and appear to hold well. The only negative point I ca...n find is the black straps. They faded to a fairly light brown in about 5 days in the sun. They sort of stand out with a black clamp and dark blue
awning.. Colorful I guess.
Looking at a picture of these de-flappers, they LOOK like they would hold way better
than anything on the market. Turns out, tha...t isn't true. I already had four of the
smaller/narrower types and added a pair of these as we were going to be in a higher
average wind area for several months. The first time I tightened them down, one of the
knobs split where it is molded around the bolt head. I took it back apart and poured
epoxy into the split area. I also epoxied around the non-broken one as well. So far, that
repair has held pretty well so far. Another issue with these units is that after a while,
they don't close as tight at each end as they do in the middle. After only a couple of
months of use, they are showing a lot more wear & tear than I would have hoped. the
last item I need to mention is the bleaching that happens to the straps. After only a few
days in direct sunlight, the black straps or more of a tan now, nearly beige. Sun
bleaching happened quickly. I don't think that has caused the straps to decrease in
strength but it does add to eclectic look of a blue & white awning with black de-flappers
and beige straps.
I bought my De-Flapper about a year ago and had used it twice. The third time I was using it, the sewn thread came apart. The se...wn thread holds the strap together. I had to improvise to use the one that came apart. When installed, they do work great. Just need a little more attention to detail when the parts are sewn together.
Worked as advertised for the first 3 times until the velcro strap broke.
Re-stitched both straps, and the De-Flapper has worked f...lawlessly since. This product when coupled with the Hold-Awn Awning Straps will take the worry out of storms appearing out of nowhere.
I really was suprised in the performance of the De-Flapper Max. The only problem I have with it is that the wrap does not allow me... to draw it tight enough for my paticular awning so I have to wrap it around the arm twice. I enjoy it very much and it most deffinately was money well $pent! I will be buying more of these for the rest of my awnings as well as all my friends are now going to purchase them. Held up very well in a very strong wind situatuion. Thanks!!
I purchased and installed two of these for my RV awning. I have not experienced any problems with the knob that has been mentione...d here. They seem to be well built and durable. In any case, the afternoon after I installed them we were hit by a thunderstorm accompanied by strong winds. Absolutely no flapping of the awning.
Installation couldn't be easier. Less than 5 minutes total.
I highly recommend this product.
The de-flapper worked well until I over tighten them one day and the big rubber hand nuts came
off the medal bolts. Once that ha...ppened they can not be used anymore. So be careful not to
We dealt with some strong winds over the weekend but the awning did not thanks to this product. No flapping like in previous situa...tions. Only takes a second to attach in the process of setting up the awning.
These worked pretty good for about 6 months, then I noticed that I had
to tighten more and more to keep the awning from slipping... out. It
seeemed than maybe the sun or tension started warping up the outer
ends of the clamp, leaving just the center section to really grab hold
of the awning. After having to tighten harder, eventually one of the
knobs came off the tightening bolt making the clamp unuseable. I
sent a email to Camco to see if they will send a replacement. Will
add additional comment when I get their response.
Currently, I believe that it would take two sets of these clamps of the
current design to work for the long term. That would reduce the
clamping force neccessary for each clamp to be more in its real life
design limits. I like the product, but if they expect a single clamp on
each side to do the job, it should probably have a larger clamping
surface and more reliable tightening knob.
My original De-Flappers came off in big wind a couple of times. The new De-Flapper Max units handled very hard wind gusts without... even moving. I crank down on the knobs pretty tight and have not had any problems. Once again bigger is better.
as a whole they do hold the awning better then nothing , but they only catch is had one of the nylon straps that hold the flapper ...to the awning brace tare right at the velcro area all the way across! This made the flapper unusable, did try and contact the company which made the
De-Flapper never got an answer back!! Did use a standard small tie down strap with a clip to take the place of the standard strap , which it now works Ok , but for only 12 times of use think it should have lasted longer then that!
Bought these off the shelf in a small camp store while at the CG...heavy gusts of wind kept us from using the awning most of the f...irst part of the week long trip but after we installed the Awning De-Flapper Max they saved the trip and allowed us to use the awning in conjunction with awning tie-downs. These worked great, very little movement of the awning fabric, great hold, no fuss! Well worth the money!!
We are so very pleased with these awning de-flappers...better than any others we've
seen. Does a wonderful job and I don't know ...how we got along without them before!
Definitely worth the money if you want to put your awning down and not worry about it in
As with the other reviews, I found that the life of the flapper was about
2 years. The velcro straps only lasted a year.
There ...is no way only 1 could work per side. We have to use 3 per side
for it work.
The Max is the best.
We bought these and found out quickly that we needed three per each
side of awning. So far we haven't had any problems like the r...est of the
reviews are saying ,but I am not saying we won't. Great item to buy to
help hold awning, just make sure you purchase enough for THREE
PER SIDE,and hope you or don't have the problems in the other
reviews. With what there saying in the other reviews I would say
purchase these when they go on sale
I was camping in the desert and fond that I need then De-Flappers. I could watch the awning blow away in a large gust, roll it up... or add the flappers. I decided to use the flappers and was VERY pleased. They are not going to prevent the awning being removed from the side of the RV so you MUST use common sense. My only issue is that I am short and needed a step. They are very easy to put on and I suggest that if you use your awning that you have 4 of these to use
I have used three of these deflappers on each side of my 16 foot awning. In three years I had one come loose in strong winds. Ju...st reinstalled and tightened more. We have been in 35+ MPH winds
with nary a problem. Would buy again if one broke, but so far, so good. I am a fulltimer and have been on the road since May '07. I use my awning extensively. BTW we left Alaska in May '07...
We purchased a set of these and found that the vecro strap on them were not long enough to use them. We ended up replacing straps ...with some we bought at hardware store. A couple of times the awning has slipped out of the grips also. Thank You.
The two I have work well, but I had to add two to three inches to each
strap, because it will not reach from the awning frame to... the awning.
Also, two to three sets are needed for my 20 foot awning.
We have used them for years and they are great. We love camping at the beach and there is always wind at the beach.
Don't pull ...them to tight because we stretched our awning. We have a 21 ft awning use the De-Flapper MAX and secure our awning in the center and we are good.
We have had a set of these de-flappers for a couple of years and love them. They are easy to attach (with velcro straps), stay in... place, and hold up well with regular use. We have a 16 foot awning on our trailer and use them all the time. On only one occasion when it was extremely windy did I wish I had a second set to use. Very happy with the purchase.
These work good. It didnt take the flapping completly away but noticed a significant change. I was out in a windy area and noticed... the flapping noise went down and the tralier wasnt shaking from the flapping. Overall they are good and recomend them.
Bought the De-Flapper Max for use with my older awning and they worked great. On our last camping trip went through a heavy rain s...torm with high winds and the de-flappers performed beyound expectations. I recommend these to protect you awning and keep the fabric taunt in windy conditions.
We bought these because the RV we bought was older as was the awning, and the first season, there was a wind storm that just about... ripped the awning off. Now, we never worry about rolling the awning back up at all. When we open up for the season, we put on the De Flapper Max's on each side - 1 pair per side, and never roll up the
awning until the end of the season, and we haven't had any problems since. We've survived two tornado warnings with 50 mph winds going through the area and some severe thunderstorms with no problems. We do usually drop the awning, when possible, but we NEVER roll it up anymore. No flapping of the awning at all. We do also use a bungie cord and a tent stake to hold the awning down at all times as well.
These are excellent de-flappers. Better than most that you find in Canada. However when you order them you will be
charged an exo...rbitant fee by the delivering company. For this reason alone I will not and I would you also not to
order on line because the items will cost you almost double for what you thought you would pay. These prices are not up
front. Bee Careful when you order
We gave these De-Flappers a good test on our latest trip. Our campground was near a lake and if you have been around lakes or any ...large bodies of water, there is always wind. The De-Flappers worked like a charm. Very easy to attach to the edge of the awning. I would recommend these to all RVers who want the flapping to stop!
For protection from high wind this product is well
thought-out, well constructed, sturdy, and simple to use. It
has a screw-down... hard plastic clamp with an inner rubberized
grip that firmly holds the awning in place. The clamp is
attached to a wide Velcro strap that adjusts to anchor to
the awning frame to reduce damaging wind stress and noise
There could be some improvements made to this product. This is our second set of this same style. The first one, the knob came o...ff. The nuts should be secured so hey don't fall out & become lost.. It does hold the awning very weldddff.
We had purchased one set of these before coming to Florida on the Gulf Coast. After being here awhile with the winds off the coast... we purchased another set and they work great. No more noise from the awning whipping. They really hold the awning tight.
What a difference these have made with our awning. We recently were out and had them on and when a storm came with low winds we di...d not even take the awning down and we could not feel the awning flapping any more. Have purchased a small set to add to them up higher to help out.
I bought these as a replacement for the Awning Buddy. These are well worth the extra $4-5. They have rubber inserts that clamp saf...ely on the awning tarp. There is a full size
knob to tighten them down. Very easy to install and remove.Very good product!
First time attaching took a couple of minutes to figure out how the velcro strap worked, then attached it and it worked great. Awn...ing was very sequre. Just don't unscrew the handle
too far or the nut falls off, I will add a second nut to eliminate this happening.
In conclusion I am very pleased with it.
Being new to camping, a friend suggested these deflappers. I bought 2 sets for added
security. They work great! Used by the beac...h where there's always a breeze (or more)
and no issues at all! Great price for a great item!
The De-Flapper is not secured to the ground. Straps on the 'rear' of the unit wrap around the awning arms while the jaw clamps on the awning fabric. This product is designed to keep the fabric from moving in the wind. To anchor the entire awning, something like SKU#37795 is used. On concrete pads, instead of hooking the strap/spring to the corkscrew anchor, you can hook them to a bucket full of water that way transport is easier when not in use.

How many do you need?

We have a 34 ft fifth wheel would we need a total of 4 , two on each Side , or is just one on each side enough?
For the most part 1 per side is enough to do the job. However, with an older awning that is losing tension and wind conditions at the camp site, 2 per side may produce better results.

Yes, Camco does package 2 replacement straps separate from the complete De-Flapper MAX. The manufacturer part number is 42243. Our Technical Service Group @ 800.622.6264 will have to special order this item.

The straps are 13 inches long.
