I leave them in the tube when rolling up my awning, but first remove the s hooks, place them in a baggie and store it with my patio lights.

THESE WORK FINE. THE ONLY CONCESSION IS THAT YOU MUST KEEP UP WITH THE SMALL HOOKS. THE TABS CAN STAY ON YOUR AWNING ROLLER, BUT I WOULD NOT LEAVE THE HOOKS ATTACHED WHEN YOU ROLL IT IN. THEY MAY DAMAGE THE AWNING MATERIAL

These are great. I have tried other plastic hooks, clips, and these are the best so far. By just removing the "S" hook before I roll up the awning and know they will be there the next time I need them. (I usually lost or broke others in the past.) Just need to remember where I put the "S" hooks now.

I like the way you can roll them up in the awning if it gets to wind or a storm comes up. Seem to be very well made holds my lights with no problem.
