Nice but flawed

This leveler is a great idea but has a flaw. The jack screw and trunnion (threaded pivot point item that the screw goes in to) are not hardened. They will wear very quickly (I mean in one use). I used this 4 times but did not lift my 3000lb Jayco Featherweight SLX more than 1 inch to level. On the 5 use I was on more of in incline and had to raise the camper wheel about 5 inches. The threads started to tear after 3 inches as the force to lift kept getting harder and harder. (I have the threads greased very well). On letting the camper down at the end of the weekend I could see that the threads were very worn and pitted (material removed from the threads). On taking this item to a structural engineer friend he told me that the screw and trunnion were not hardened or hardened enough.. He felt not at all... I really like this design otherwise. If it worked properly it would be great. The manufacture said they would send me a replacement screw and trunnion. For now I will only go up about 1-2.

Using Bal Tire Leveler on larger wheels

I used the leveler on a 21' trailer with 14 inch wheels. Simply put one small block under the tire on the side you wish to lift. This will lift the wheel enough to allow the leveler to slide in around the wheel. Problem solved!

This has become one of the best accessories we have purchased for our Coleman tent trailer. It is not always easy to find level ground when boondocking. The BAL leveler makes it a nonissue. It also does wonders for stability of the trailer when fully set up. I have nothing bad to say, although I do wish that it came with a vinyl bag or something for storage.

We just checked out of a campground where the site we were on was like mount washington. This site had a mountain in the middle and we were told it was the only one available. We received the tire leveler the day before we left. It made my husband a happy man as the thing really worked! He has us level in a matter of minutes. We were about 4 off the ground but locked in tight. No movement or rocking of the camper at all. Great product!

Fast instant leveling

This tire leveler works good for a one axel travel trailer. The leveler slips under the tire and in about a minute you have the trailer exactly level side to side. No more blocks under the wheel needed. Cons: I had one major problem with tire leveler, the leveler is only desiigned to fit under a 13 inch tire, but it would not even fit under my 13 inch tire on my trailer. I had to use another jack to bend the openeing apart so it would fit. If not for this one flaw I would give this 5 stars.

Great leveler

August 13, 2011
This leveler has made very quick work of leveling out the largest tent trailer I've seen. My only concern would be that my 13 wheels seem to be the very biggest it will fit around - I'd like to increase my wheel size, but don't have a good levelling solution if I do so...

Instant leveling

This is the most fantastic invention for leveling and the BAL product is rugged and works very well. We just purchased our second unit... after eight years of use on the first one. After eight years, the stem nut finally gave way. However, this unit worked well and is well worth the money. Whenever we see campers putting the unit tires up on blocks, we just shake our heads. Great product!

Good design but won't work with 15 wheels

I agree with the first reviewer who said it didn't work well with 15 inch wheels. If you use it on concrete or some other paved surface you can slip the leveler under the wheel, barely! If however your camper is on grass, or any other unpaved surface, it's a struggle to get it in place without digging out around it, which is more trouble then it's worth. I have a 17' Caita travel trailer with 15 inch wheels. I plan on returning this leveler next time I go back to Camping Word.

Works great on 14in or smaller tires

I found this product well built and easy to use, but the design did not accommodate the 15 inch tires on my 16-foot camper. Another inch or two across would make the difference and I would not have to dig out around the sides of the wheel to get the leveler in place.

this leveler does indeed NOT Fit 15 inch tires as sold. Unless you do a neat trick. Place your car sissor jack between the arms and spread them slowly. It fits just fine after that. It doesnt take much, and the leveler works fine.

I used the BAL leveler for the first time this weekend; what a great easy to use, no hassle leveler. Slide it under your wheel, give it a few cranks and your there. It is so much easier than leveling blocks. I highly recommend this product.

Great Item for small trailers

Had my trailer for almost 2 years now. Very rarely do I pull into some place to camp and not use the BAL leveler. It makes setting up so easy and trailer very secure. I look at as performing 3 functions. 1. Getting the trailer level, 2. providing chocks, and 3. making it difficult for some body to just hook up and pull it away.

I have a Starcraft 2406. This product is very easy to use and a dramatic improvement over leveling blocks. Simply position your pop-up trailer where you want in your campsite, place this device around the tire on the low side, and crank it up. To speed the process, I use a Makita cordless drill with a 3/4 socket. When I get close to level, I use the wrench that came with the leveler. I can easily and quickly get the trailer perfectly level...and no blocks to slip off!

Designed for 13" wheels

December 21, 2006
The comment above about not fitting 13" wheels is incorrect. This device is designed for the 13" wheels of tent trailers. 13" wheels have tires approximately 26" in diameter so tires on 8" rims with tire diameters in the 16" range probably will not work. This device is highly recommended for ease of use, secure leveling, and you can level to the millimeter if you so desire. Paired with the BAL single tire chock the trailer has almost no movement.

We purchased this unit to level our POP up camper. It works like no other thing I have ever used. For what it needs to lift it is not heavy at all, as other mentioned. The weak point is that it only fits small tires. If you have a 13 inch tire, it will not work. Hopefully, BAL will make a larger unit since I know plenty of customers for this unit.

Works great, no more backing onto pieces of lumber for leveling and worring about camper slipping off. This only requires one person to handle the job. The other review mentioned the weight and the maintainence as problems. First of all if 18 lbs. is to heavy for you, have your wife, kid, or grandparent do it for you, Second, it takes more effort to use a Q-tip to clean your ears than it does to lubricate this thing. Highly recommend using this invention.

Not bad, but...

Pros: adjusts much finer, makes a great chock. Cons: heavy, can't adjust as high, needs periodic maintenance (keep clean & greased), fairly expensive. It's a darn sight better than lumber (anything is). Oh, did I mention that it's heavy?

I used to level my pop up with graduated stacks of wood. Proceedure - Back into site. Lug out my wood ramp. Get splinters. Cuss. pull forward onto ramp. Cuss some more becuase the ramp is moving. You get the idea... No more. Now I just back into position. Place the BAL Leveler under the low side tire and turn the drive screw with the wrench provided. viola. Camper is now level. I have used this device for over two years now and average 10 trips per year. Not one problem. I now use my DeWalt 987 cordless drill to raise and lower the BAL Leveler, the roof of my Coleman Utah and the BAL stabilizers. Just be sure to keep the drive screw well greased.

A solid 4 star item

We have been using this leveler for about 3 months. I would rate it 5 stars if it weighed less. However, it is fast, easy to use. Just slip it in place and crank. If you can crank up a pop-up, you can use this leveler. For pop-ups and small light weight trailers it is a definite improvement over moving your rig back and forth on leveling blocks and pieces of wood to get it level.

BAL Trailer Leveler

July 18, 2004
We've been using this leveler since last Nov and so far it has been great for a quick leveling job. Only twice did I have to dig out around the tire to slide it under and this is one of the down sides..(Casita 17' standard issue is Goodyear Marathon Radial ST205/75R14). The leveler is just a little too narrow. But this only happens in soft soil.... If it fit my tire better I would rate the leveler with 4 stars and if it wasn't so bulky and heavy it would get a 5 star rating..

Jacked

September 04, 2003
When I first got this I thought it was the greatest time saving leveler ever. It kept my wife and I from arguing from the camper to the truck while trying to back onto wood, it was safe and pretty easy to haul around...BUT then it showed its true colors. We went out for a three day weekend, and when it was time to lower the unit, it somehow got bound up and the top "Nut" began to twist, so I could not lower the camper. I ended up having to pull out my 2 ton jack (thank God I had it), jack up my camper then remove the leveler so I could get my camper back down on the ground. I would have thought that it would have been a one piece design, so this could not happen. My advice is to have the top nut welded into place, and always take a jack with you!

I purchased this last year and have now finally had a chance to really test it out. This is one remarkable invention. I used to spend at least 20 mins before trying to level our tent trailer in the best spot available, Now I can just PUT IT WHERE WE WANT. Place the tire leveler, and VOILA!. Its level. Its that easy!. I highly recomment this product. I am also using it on 12" tires, and it works just great!.

I bought one of these jewels over a year ago. I have used it on my old Coleman and my new much heaver, larger tired (13") Jayco. It has saved me much time, frustration and sweat. I highly recommend this product. If you don't have one, and you have a pop up you are missing the boat. You just chock the high side, slide this baby under the low side wheel, level front to back then side to side, you are completely level in under 15 minutes.
