I love this vent cover. Although not recommended, I put it over the vent with a fan in the bathroom. I can't raise the vent lid all the way up but that's okay because my fan isn't very powerful. After having it open through rain and snow the past week, I've noticed that the camper smell is finally gone! My son installed it quite easily too.

I have used vent covers on my other camper and purchased these for my new one. I like the extra vents on the sides and believe they will help with air flow when I have my roof vents open. I leave my roof vents open when ever I am parked and not using a/c or heat to keep the camper cooler inside.

DEFINITELY Useable with Fan-Vents

Bought 2 of these to replace 1 vent, and mount over the 2nd vent. No warning at the store these were not recommended for vents with fans. Saw it on the site. Talked to a rep via chat, and considered a different vent, BUT the problem with that one (and possibly others) is that they require compromising your roof seal even with Lap Sealant (yes, I had that onhand too). I preferred this mounting method where the L-brackets go onto the metal frame of the roof vent. After thinking about it, I decided that I didn't have a 900 cfm fan, but a lowly 188 cfm Vortex. So, I installed them and they work quite well. The biggest deal is deciding where to drill holes to mount the kits. Measure a lot and be sure! I personally suspect that this recommendation is more marketing than actual fact. Yes, it isn't as free flowing as another vent or 900 cfm fan. But, it seems like a good match for a Vortex and vents very well A bit of noise bounce-back, but not much. I did use Lap Sealant to seal up the old roof vent mounts just as insurance. Only oddity was that the 2 identical kits had different size nuts for mounting the vents. The first was fine as a 7/16 size, but the next had to go metric to get a fit. One does not expect different sizes in stainless steel hardware between 2 identical vents from the same store-display. So, hope this helps as I think there is confusion about whether it is really is possible to use these vent covers effectively when fans are being used. HAPPY CAMPING! :-)

Just bought a 94 Jayco which required replacing vent covers. Decided to purchase two of these vent caps in order to get free flow of air in all weather conditions. Was pleasantly surprised at ease of installation and quality of the product. Heavy duty materials with stainless steel hardware means long lasting with no rust issues. I especially liked the fact that my rubber roof wasn't compromised by the installation.
