Description

WINEGARD CO 497
Winegard Carryout Anser antenna is destined to be the shining star of all portable satellite TV antennas.
Anser antenna brings the beauty of the great outdoors and the luxury of TV entertainment together at a very affordable cost. You’ll enjoy the no hassle easy set-up with this one-of-a-kind design.

Unique Single Satellite Solution

Equipped with a larger reflector, the Anser antenna has the unique ability to receive DISH HD programming from a single satellite (72°), unlike other automatic antennas that must toggle between 2 or 3 DISH satellites. The Anser antenna receives DIRECTV standard programming from satellite 101° and is also compatible with Bell TV in Canada.

Simple Set-Up, Simpler Operation

Lightweight yet rugged, the Carryout Anser antenna requires minimal set up time. Simply set the elevation provided by your receiver and plug it in. The antenna will then automatically find the satellite. Once it pauses on the satellite, unplug it and you can start watching TV – it’s that easy! Compatible with all DISH receivers except the Hopper/Joey and all DirecTV receivers except the H25 AND HR34 (Genie). The 722k is also compatible, but two coax cables will have to be ran from the antenna to the inputs (you can't use a DPP separator).

Features:

  • 2 coax inputs to allow for multiple receiver hook-up
  • A convenient carry handle
  • A security eyelet molded into the base so the antenna can be locked up
  • Made in the U.S.A.
  • Compatible with Carryout tripod mount (sold separately).
  • Not compatible with Carryout ladder mount.
  • 12V power converter to 110V sold separately

    In The Box:

  • Carryout anser GM-5000 hybrid automatic portable satellite antenna
  • Easy-grip handle

    Anser Full Automatic

Would I buy this system, YES, in a heartbeat. Takes 3 minutes to set it up and then 10 to 15 minutes for Dish to do it's satellite finding and program loading. If you set this up when you first arrive, you are watching TV before you are actually inside and ready to pop a top!

As with the other reviews, the unit was easy to set up and found satellites fine both in TX and PA. (make sure your receiver is compatible). My problem arose on vacation in PA, when I could not get local channels, for either my TX home or my location in PA. After calling several times, I finally got the scoop from Directv. They could change my account to local PA but that would screw up with the DVR recording in TX. Finally, a lady from Directv MOBILE, told me that I could sign a form, mail it in (no sign and scan) and pay an extra $15 a month for mobile access. With my new Jack antenna, I usually have no need for the dish so I only rarely need it. If I had known all this beforehand , I probably wouldn't have ordered it.

I was having trouble in GA while on work assignment with the standard dish set-up. After some research I bought the Anser it finally found one satellite which meant I could not get all my channels that I pay for. I tried setting up in MI at home and it still will not pick up satellite 72 which would eliminate the need to see both 119 and 110 which would allow me to get all my programing. The Anser is a one satellite system you can watch two TV's if you run both leads. My next job is in the State of WA and according to the map provided with the unit, but not available to view online prior to buying.

I love this satellite dish. I had a horrible experience with my old regular dish and finally gave up even bothering with it. I took this one on my last trip and it really was as easy as it said. Just plugged it in and waited for it to find a signal and started watching my favorite shows

With the Wineguard GM1518 fully automatic sat antenna running around $700, I thought the new Anser antenna looked pretty good for a lot less. The issue was would it work? After reading a number of reviews I decided to take a chance and ordered one from Camping World which had the best price. Wineguard is a pretty good company and has been in the RV antenna business for a long time. We actually owned the antenna unused for a couple of months before we took our motor home to Florida and got settled in the RV park in Ft Myers. I took that time to build a tripod base which can also be purchased from Wineguard. The instructions - both photos and descriptions were excellent and easy to follow. There are quite a few steps and it is important to follow them exactly. In addition to the items included with the antenna, you will need a 12 volt source with a cigarette lighter socket. The 12 volt source must be able to supply at least 5 amps. A compass and a level will also be helpful. The antenna needs to be oriented close to north and should be reasonably level. I followed the setup for the DirectTV box and the antenna and in no more than 10 minutes I was watching TV. Some cautions: If you are a DirectTV customer the satellite that this antenna uses will only give you standard broadcasts - no HD. Some DirectTV boxes are not compatible without some additional equipment. Go to the Wineguard website for info. The antenna has worked perfectly every day for the last three months. Couldn't be happier!

Recently subscribed to Directv and wanted a mobile satellite option for my travel trailer. Received this dish, unboxed it, set-up a new receiver with Directv, and had the satellite dish working very quickly. I had never set one up before and even though it was already dark outside I was still able to test this out that evening and found it was pretty simple to do. You save a lot of money not having the elevation being set automatically but doing it manually really just takes a couple minutes. Find the elevation for your location (tells you right on the receiver / RV screen) and just turn the upper portion of the satellite to that elevation degree number. For that... you save a couple hundred dollars vs. the automatic plus you get a large sized dish that seems to have no problem picking up a great signal. My test was on a very overcast night where you couldn't see a single star in the sky. This had no affect on my ability to get the transponders to report signal strengths in the high 80s and some well into the 90s. I am very pleased and feel I made the right choice in selecting this dish.

Great product. I replaced my manual dish with this one. Setup was easy and when power was applied the dish rotated to the right satellite with some transponders having 100 percent strength.

I'm sitting here now watching my programming in Port St. Joe, Florida that I would normally be watching at home in southeast Missouri. This is good stuff as when a long day of playing in the sun is over, I can kick back in the evening and watch programming that I customarily watch at home. This is important to me.
