Bought on line from Camping World. Received exactly what I bought. No dents or damages. Set up in less than 30 min as I had a brand new TV to program. At home I made all the connections, set the elevation, pointed in a generally southern direction and used the Direct TV signal strength indicator to lock in the signal. Thats how easy it was.
Took it tailgating at the football game and setup in less than 5 min.
Took it to the mountains and could not lock in the signal due to bad weather....snow clouds but the next day locked in. Had some trouble shooting to do.....had to switch LNB from right
to left output cable for some reason and only got 65% signal strength (normally greater than 80%) but the picture was perfect.
Don't let the naysayers scare you! This is a great product!
I used the builtin water tank as my weight and seemed to hold in the wind without an issue. Compass is weak and the level is small but dont really need it anyway. Eyeballing it works fine. The carry case is great and protects the dish very well. Might want 50 feet of cable vs
the 25 they provide.

Nice little unit, but not worth 5 stars. Maybe 3.8 would be more accurate. I think this model was designed to have the end user take it back, and purchase the more expensive automatic models. If you do not have at least a little patience, don't buy this model. A couple of things to do for easier set up; Get your self a good compass, and a foot long level. The compass and leveling tool that come with the unit are pure junk. Actually worse than junk. Also purchase yourself a Satellight Finder meter. This meter
will save you some set up time. Another purchase I would recommend are 4 of those rubber, wedge door stops for unit leveling purposes. I also added sand as added stabilizing weight, instead of water. Takes me about 10-15 minutes now to be up and running, watching my TV.

I had a dish on the roof or my travel trailer for years. Under trees I got no signal for my Direct TV. This unit works great once you get the hang of it. It can be set up 100 feet from the trailer and out from under the trees. Pay no attention to the level. Get a good Compass, the one that comes installed on the unit does not work there. Get a signal meter and have at it. I have used mine up and down the Delmarva Peninsula, in Pa. and in Florida.

Just got this little unit this week and it worked like a charm on the first try! I was very impressed with both the ease of use and the very affordable cost. I received a crystal clear picture all weekend long at my campsite.
I just followed the included instructions and without any additional equipment or satellite finders, I was able to connect in about 5 mins. time. I just grabbed an extra Directv box off my spare TV in my office and used the tone to help zero-in on the satellite by manually moving the dish. Love it and would definitely recommend !!!

Purchased the MP1 ,We have used it from Fla. to Utah and
works great. The compass is not very good, so plan on buying
one. I have the tripod unit to go with sat. The tripod legs
could have been designed better for easier set up. I drilled
holes out .010 and now work easier. I use a 1 gal. plastic
milk bottle filled with water and hang it on the tripod for
stability, it has never moved using this method. I have
recommended to others.

A lot of trees--pines--in NC. Coach Wineguard auto great when there's a shot, but not any use in trees. Portable works great. With an App called SatFinder, it took me about three
minutes to set up first time. Worked great on all SW 64 Switch channels. Couldn't get more then around 30 on signal strength, but only get around 50 at home. Works great!

The MP1 is working great for us. We are on the road and using it in many places. It
took me awhile to get where I could set it up but now it doesn't take long at all. As
everyone says, read and follow the directions! Also learn to set it up at home! Also buy a satellite finder. I found one for $40.00 and it really helps. Make setting it up only minutes. We really like ours. It doesn't take up much room and easy to store and carry. Thanks KC

As other buyers of this Satellite Antenna I too advise future buyers to practice setting it
up at home before hitting the road. Once you get the setup principle worked out it is
actually pretty easy but a good satellite finder meter is very helpful. The compasses
provided with the system are worthless. Get decent replacements

Where to start... you will need to buy additional items to make this work. The buble level was pointless, it had no water in it. It is a pain to get it to find a satellite, you constantly have to adjust it. We returned it and bought the roof mount automatic system. I prefer to
press a button as opposed to spending a couple of hours setting this thing up.

Once you get the Antenna set up, the picture is great. The problem comes when there is
a breeze - well, here the wind blows. We had a difficult time keeping the Antenna on the
correct setting because of the wind. I will build a stand that will make it steadier, not use
the water but attach the antenna part to the stand. Hopefully that will get rid of the
problems we had on the first try.

The first setup took a while - I have never done this
before. It looks like I am getting the hang of it and this
should be a welcome addition to our RV experience.
Especially since we will be in a remote area for a bit.

Easy to store and set up.
The problem I have with mine is the satellite service. Ordered Dish Network as it was
quick and I was leaving to go out of town. In order to get full service from Dish Network
the signal is sent from different sattelites therefore to get full service you may have to
reaim to satellite carring the program you want to see. I ordered top 200 channels and
had some missing then i tried upgrading to top 250 only to find more missing channels.
It is my understanding that Direct TV carries almost all of their channels off of one
satellite. The ones you will not get will be mostly relgious channels. You can still get them
but must reaim dish.
I am going to Direct TV asap. Most reviews show they appear to be better for this
application.

Bought this for our Class B RoadTrek because it takes so little spacein storage. Tried it at home first and took about 20 minutes to get a signal. At the last campground only took about 5 minutes to find the Dish Network satellite. The only drawbacks I can find is the elevation
scale is a little hard to read and the compass is hard to use. I recommend a regular map compass instead amd I'm going to mark the elevation scale with white paint every 10 degrees. Oh, and the bubble level gave up in the heat at Phoenix. Even with these few drawbacks, the system works well. Sometimes I only get 25% to 30% signal but the tv
reception is still great. I also have the Dish Network Pay-as-You-Go service which allows you to pay for only the months you need the service. A great idea. I would recommend both
to fellow travelers.

Purchased this unit about a year ago because of the price. Would not be using it much so didn't want to spend a lot of money. In the 6-10 times I have tried it I have been succesful only once. After reading the reviews I wonder if it is defective because I can only get signals from a few transponders and only the one time could I get a signal more than 50%. 50% brings in no stations!I think I will buy the automatic carryout.

This system is wonderful. I have never set up a Sat system and this past weekend I did it in less than 20 minutes. I know as I use this system I will become fast at setting this up. I used a sat finder device which was wonderful in finding the sat. Simply awesome!!!!!!

We bought this so we could get better TV reception at those campgrounds that don't offer cable. We had a spare Directv receiver and had it reactivated. You can use the receiver's set-up function to enter the zip code for the location you are visiting and it will display the azimuth and elevation to use with the MP1. Connect the TV and the MP1 to the receiver as outlined in the included intstructions, set the receiver to monitor satellite strength, and turn up the TV volume. Dial in the MP1 using the azimuth and elevation obtained from the receiver. You will hear the tone to let you know that you are centering up on the satellite. The louder and faster the tone, the better centered you are. Tighten
everything down when you obtain the best signal. It's that easy. I would suggest filling the MP1 with water to make it a little heavier. That will help make it stable. I have a small table that I place it on and can use stakes and twine to secure it so it is firmly in place. If you follow the instructions that are provided with the MP1, you will find that you
can have the MP1 set-up and a satellite dialed in in a very short amount of time (it took me about 10 minutes the first time and 2 - 3 minutes after that). It provides a good strong signal, usually around 85 - 87 for me. The MP1 is definitely worth the money for someone on a budget or for those who are not full-timers but want to enjoy their satellite TV while on the road. You really can't beat the price and ease of use. Plus, it folds down pretty small so it's not difficult to pack away when not in use.

I did as suggested and set it up at home first. Little difficult but worked excellent. At the RV I had trouble getting channels I wanted. So I called Dish Network. After a LOT being passed around the bottom line is you need to reset the dish many times to use the 32 different satellites Dish Network uses. Their Advanced Technician said I should on line and chat with other users to learn the TRICKS. I don't need tricks I need Direct TV!

Once you get down the basics of Satelites and how they work, this thing was very easy to set up. Played with it at home first. Would like it better if there was a better way to lock the azimuth.

This dish is great. Very simple to set up and use. The key thing is to read the
instructions FIRST. To make it stable, use the ground screw and the double hook
bungie cord. Place some grease on the center pivot bolt so it screws in and out easy. Once I read the instructions I had it set up and the sat. dialed in less than five minutes!!!!! If you are looking for a great portable sat. and dose not cost a arm and a leg THIS IS IT!!! Thanks for a good product!!!!!
