I have been trying to find a generator to run the window AC, and the WFCO 8955 converter (battery charger) in our RV. I tried a CPE 2000 watt inverter model, and it could not power the converter without overloading repeatedly. I got this genset on sale for $169 all in. I immediately ran the battery on my RV very low, so the converter would go into bulk mode, to see if this unit could handle it. It passed with flying colors! I also tried loading it up with the window AC, but it struggled. Never once did it stall or cut out; even when overloaded, it kept chugging away. It effortlessly powered the 5000 BTU AC, I turned on the fridge on the 120 volt setting and it struggled for a second, and then ran them both without further protest. I was also satisfied with the low noise level, considering the type of generator. I would have no issue using this in a campground, but only with a heavy mat draped over it to keep the noise level low. Overall I am very happy with the performance, noise level, fuel efficiency, and light weight of this unit, and I am quite particular. It is only slightly noisier, similar fuel efficiency, and the same weight as the CPE 2000i, and it outperforms it when used to power my converter / charger. This was my third generator I purchased for camping, and it works perfectly so far.

Although this easy to lug (65-70 lbs) is easy starting and runs quite reliably it is a little under sized for a hardside camper. It will run the battery charger, a TV, lights and any small AC load such as a laptop. It will not, however run your microwave (unless it is an 800 watt model), will not handle the AC load of a refrigerator or the AC load of your water heater. Additionally, the thing does drink gas and, although the carton states 65dba, it is a noisy little bugger to the point of being annoying. I estimate that I am getting about 2 hours per gal of gas. That makes watching TV about $2 per hour.I guess it is a small price for creature comforts. My only real negative is the gas cap gasket has already begun to degrade and a small amount of fuel does escape around the gas cap during operation. Dangerous! I have requested Champion to replace the gas cap.
