I found this grill to be very easy to set up and use, the water tray under the grilling surface not only prevented flare ups , but also got the drippings, making clean up much simpler. The only thing I'd like to see added would be braces between the legs to make it a little more stable. The whole unit folds up neatly and stores well. I also added a 6 foot propane hose and a small independent propane tank, so I didn't have to worry about running out while cooking.

YES the carry bag actually works, nice grill

You must pack the shelfs first in the lower pouches, then lay the base in upside down and press down, then lay the the top section into the bag and start the zipping half way, then stand the bag up on the wheels to let everything settle, then the zippers close with no problem and the bag will stretch over time. People writing negative reviews are simply wrong and did not have enough patience to figure it out before posting. Grill seems excellent and well made. It setup and broke down much easier than I thought. These reviews had be very worried but now I realize there was nothing to fear. This was one of the better products I ordered from them.

This is larger than we thought - but a very nice grill. It isn't what we wanted for the motorhome but we are going to use it as a home grill. The bag is not for this unit. It will only fit the top part of grill

The grill came very quickly from Camping World and it is perfect for us. We are living in our motor home is the Florida Keys this winter and it is perfect for our outdoor kitchen. We have used it for each meal often and it is just right for the two of us. Breakfast is especially fun with steak on the grill and eggs and pancakes on the griddle.

We have had it since spring 2002. After 11 seasons It continues to perform flawlessly including the igniter. We camp about 40 nights per season. My wife makes breakfast on it most mornings. The zipper on its case has gotten beat up and doesn't work very well any more.

September 20, 2012
We purchased a Coleman Road Trip Grill nine years ago in 2003 and still loveusing the Grill. In our opinion, it’s probably the best performing Grill in/on the market today and for the past 9 years. The finishes on the Grill allow for easy cleaning and clean-up. After nine years of heavy use, our Grill still looks like new, but if you look closely you can see it has served us well. When we purchased the Grill, we also purchased the accessories (an additional Griddle and Grill, plus the Stove Grates) and have never regretted the additional purchase expense for we use all the accessories on a regular mix and match basis. For clean-up, we’ve learned to let the Cast Iron Griddles or Grills soak over-night in soapy water in a large plastic tub. Cleaning is easy in the morning. The Stove grates pretty much stay clean and require little TLC. The rest of the grill cleans quickly with a wet sponge and paper towel. If you have never used a Coleman Road Trip Grill you are missing out on a great Grill. The Cast Iron Grills and Griddles heat up quickly and do a great job on high or low heat depending what you are cooking. If you are considering purchasing a Road Trip Grill, you cannot go wrong with the Grill for it will meet or beat your expectations. The Grill also came with a water tray, to catch the grease drippings, which we do put water in the tray, it makes cleaning the drips easy. Great Grill

I was very surprised by the performance of this grill. It heats uniformly and cooks perfectly. I ordered an additional griddle which helps with eggs and bacon. I would wholeheartedly recommend this grill.

We really like the grill it cooked everything up just right no uneven cooking like our old grills. Only one downside is clean up is little timely but taken the time and effort the grill looks brand new after about 20 uses already.

Bought it to camp at Michigan International Speedway had 8 adults and cooked every meal on it. The lower grease plate has some sharp edges, the base is a little hard to set up, but in all really worth the money. We used a 20 LBS LP tank and an adapter so I donot know how it works with the small bottles.

We bought to take in our RV because it is compact. It barbecues differently than a a regular grill it uses water under the grill so you do not get flareups and the smokey taste yet we like the way it grills. We have the large griddle that is great for pancakes and bacon. We bought the extra grill grate and it actually is better than the one that comes with it. It is heavier duty. The only real issue is cleanup. most grills just turn up the heat and burn it off that does not work well with this grill. Have yet to be able to get it into the storage bag but will give it another try. Overall works great the grills do cleanup easily in the sink. In campgrounds seeing other owners all have the same opinion works great cleanup could be easier. Uses about 1 cannister of propane per weekend. Trying an eleven pound tank should be better will not run out in the middle of cooking.

Great Grill..but a little hot spot

August 28, 2012
I really like this grill..it's a snap to put together, and super easy to clean. with a grill on one side, and a flat piece on the other, I can cook just about anything! However, there is a hot spot in it...and it can go through those little tanks pretty quickly, so it's worth it to get the adapter to be able to use the bigger tanks. All in all, I'm pretty happy with it..

I purchased this for my husband for Father's Day. We recently went on an extended RV trip and our new grill did a great job with Chicken Breasts on one side and mixed veggies grilling on the other. Everyone was very impressed. I would like to purchase another set to have the same on each side but they are very expensive. That is the only downer to this grill.

We really like our new grill. I bought it for my husband for fathers day, and he was really Pleased. Coleman makes great products and we have been camping for years, and we can always count on their products. I think for the price, it should come with 2 grates, and a cover though.

Like the Coleman stove and lantern Dad bought before the family would head for the mountians, the Classic Grill I purchased has worked as promised easy to set up, easy to clean. With many of the camping sites we now enjoy degisinated NO OPEN FIRES we had to decide between no longer enjoying the taste of freshly grilled meals or cooking inside on a cooktop. We however, have chosen to continue grilling just with a safer LP fire and this grill is perfect, portable yet powerful enough to cook any meal. The one thing we needed however is a full grate and griddle which we have since purchased to give us the ability to cook a meal for all the grandkids without having to cook in shifts.

Wonderful Appliance

Buy the grill and the stand--they work well together. A little on the heavy side to call extemely portable but not too difficult to move and set up. The grill is a winner. The use of water to constrain the grease build up is very useful. Tried a small propane cannister and it did not work for us. With coleman small propane cannister: no problem. Concerns: A bit heavy, on the stand cannister platform is shaky, wish they came with a hose to connect to large propane cannister. One can be purchased but I am cheap. LOL. Finally, Camping World Rocks--good prices, packaging and fast shipment. No, I do not work of Camping World or Coleman, just an old gummer that loves RVing.

It is a great grill with easy to clean grates and with water in the tray makes it very easy to clean. Cooked 4 meals on about a 1/2 tank of a 16 oz bottle and it did a great job. A little heavy. Wish they would give a choice of what two griddle you get and also get the same grill, heavy vs light.

Great Quality but Heavy and Awkward

0 out of 0 people found this review helpful.
July 18, 2012
No complaints about quality. This is a first rate product by Coleman. My issue is that its heavy and very difficult to manuver in and out of storage compartments. When you pick it up by the handle, the sissor legs open and its a pain to wrestle with and get on or off the ground. Should have a way to lock the legs when folded. Its compact appearance is deceiving because it takes up quite a bit of space. On the positive side: very well constructed out of great material. It will never wear out. I've moved mine to the deck at home to use in a permanent location.

The best portable grill

June 16, 2012
We have owned a few of the $20 walmart specials that only lasted a season so we decided to finally buy a nice one, we decided on this one after reading the reviews, and just love it. From the ease of setup, start-up, grilling and cleaning all top notch. We also love the versatility of the griddle and grill, we ended up buying another set of the grill and griddle but we bought the cast iron and what comes with this is cast aluminum but it is all non stick. Since it has two burners you can grill on just one side if need be or both. As the the grilling part, we havent burned any food yet either, as I had read in past reviews, we even grill with the lid down but as long as you watch it and not grill on high, you dont have any problem at all, does a beautiful job. Since it uses the small propane cylinders, we have a propane tree and the hose connect so we actually use our 20# tank which makes for easier time when your set-up for camp or just a day trip the small cylinder works great. So we highly recommend this grill, we couldnt be happier!!!

Grilling time!

June 13, 2012
We purchased this grill because of the two heating elements. It is awesome. We have not had a grill for years so we did a lot of research to find the perfect grill. It cooks very evenly and it is nice to have the option of firing up one side if you only have a couple of things to cook. The grill grates are very high quality, thick and non-stick. They clean up easily. Another nice feature is the removable stand. There are short legs on the grill itself so you can sit it on a picnic table to cook. We have a Class C motorhome and the storage underneath is not very high. Other grills we looked at would not fit but the Coleman Road Trip Classic Grill fits perfectly. We are also using this grill at home so we chose to purchase the larger propane tank and hose from a local dealer. The only down side is that this grill comes with one grill grate and one griddle. We would have preferred two grill grates so we had to purchase one and we felt it was quite pricey. We are extremely happy with this grill.

IMHO, this is the best grill for the money & CW has the best sale pricing @ $169. This is apparently a close out sale as the Coleman Site no longer stocks this model so when they are gone that will be it for this model. If you replace both burners at about $20 delivered, this grill will laaaaaast you quite awhile. Go for it ! Bill in FL

Great Grill!!!

June 07, 2012
What a great grill!! We purchased this grill in May of 2012, to use when we go camping in our RV. We recently went to a Jellystone campground in Luray, VA. We cooked hot dogs, hamburgers, BBQ ribs, bacon and eggs on the grill and it performed superbly! It cooked evenly and was a breeze to clean. We purchased an additional grill grate for the grill, and the the storage case with wheels. We also bought an adapter hose to connect the grill to a 20lb propane tank. The key to using the grill is making sure it is level, (which is not too difficult), especially when using the griddle to cook things like eggs. If it is not level, the egg will run off the edge of the griddle. Also, putting water in the drip pan, as recommended, makes cleanup a cinch. The grill is extremely easy to set up and take down, and fits nicely in the storage compartment of our 5th wheel. One other thing I like about this grill is that you can use it with the stand, or set it on a table, whichever is more convenient.I would highly recommend this grill to any RV'er out there!

Used this grill for the first time tonight and was very pleased for the most part. Grilled the chicken breasts great, and clean up was easy. I'm not giving it five stars because of two things, the spark igniter did not work very well, I had to use a lighter. And the stand, although it works well, is a bit cumbersome to put up and take down, and also a bit heavy. I do wish the accessories weren't so pricey, since the grill plate and griddle are just cast aluminum.

We've had our Road Trip grill for about 2 years and it's been great! Use is very easy even for those that might not have a lot of grilling experience, cleanup is very good as well. We purchased the rolling bag, unit cover, griddle and stove ring accessories soon after buying the initial unit and have had zero problems with any part of it.The unit not only grills good, it puts out enough heat to easily deep fry fish in a pan as well as cook breakfasts on the griddle making it a pretty complete cooking center, really handy in warm temps when you don't want to heat up your RV cooking indoors. Seriously considering replacing grill we use at home with another one of these.

Finally, a grill we can use for everything!

We enjoy cooking outside and have tried a number of different grills, but none of them seemed versitile enough to meet all our needs. This one does. It comes with a half sized grill on one end and a half sized griddle on the other so you can grill chops on one end while making pancakes on the other at the same time. If you anticipate cooking for a large group, you might want to invest in another half griddle and grill so the whole cooking surface can be one or the other, depending on your needs. It's very well made and quite sturdy and the legs can be adjusted a bit to compensate for uneven ground, or you can use it without the long legs and put it on the picnic table. It's a bit heavy, which keeps it stable in winds and keeps little ones from knocking it over while playing around, so we're glad we also bought the wheeled storage case, not only to protect it's finish, but to make it easy to move around to just the right spot before setting it up. Glad we paid a bit more and got our money's worth!

I am very pleased with my road trip grill. It was easy to put together and easy to clean. Cooks evenly and the flat top grill is handy for pancakes in the morning. I gave ir a four star rating because it is rather heavy to carry and you need to be careful setting it up , pinched fingers. If you are staying at a campsite for more than one nite, This is the grill for you. Enough room for 3 big T-Bones on the grill. I have had many grills over the years but finally I have found one that is well built and will last a long time. Good grill for tailgating and on the back deck. I use mine there and on the road in the motorhome
