This is ideal if your camping spot does not provide a fire pit. We often tailgate and dry camp and this pit is ideal. I love being able to zip the whole pit into the carrying case without worry about a mess in the RV. It could use some air holes for a better air flow, and it is small but decent size for a group of 6 or so.

I have used this fire pit 5 times in the last 2 weeks. The first 3 times, I used 3 different types of wood. All 3 types of wood had LOTS of black smoke. Almost to the point of fearing the fire department being called. After drilling 20 air holes in the bottom of the stainless steel pan, it finally stopped smoking. It had NO way for the fire to get oxygen. It also has a VERY LOUD metal "PING" when the metal pan heats up. It gives my wife a heart attack each time this happens. You never get used to it when you're trying to chill out watching a soothing fire, then "PING" loud enough for the neighbors to hear. We cannot recommend this fire pit to anybody. We will be replacing ours as soon as we find ANYTHING better. The very first time we used it, the black paint on the spark arrester that goes over the fire, started burning off. Now, after 5 fires, there is NO PAINT left, only bare metal. I know the first time it gets wet or moist, it will rust. I will attempt to make look better with some BBQ paint in the interim, until it put it in the trash. I don't think I would even give this one away

When we first bought our trailer I bought this and then felt really silly. We used it only once with the trailer since most campgrounds have fire pits. We have since upgraded to a fifth wheel and have only had one opportunity to use it also. It works as promised and the way we look at it is that we need to always be prepared when traveling and camping. With this we are always able to have a fire.
