The new CoolCoat Insulating Coating uses advanced MicroCells technology to reduce heat transfer from the RV roof to the RV interior.
Tests show that this new ceramic coating can reduce the interior temperature by as much as 29 percent from the roof temperature. The temperature reducing coating material is a new alternative to the popular acrylic coating that RVers have used for years in Dicor’s Two-Part Coating System for EPDM (ethylene propylene diene monomer) roofs. Dicor Products says it is critical to prepare the roof with the cleaner/activator (Sku 32150) before applying either coating (second part) to ensure maximum coating adhesion.

CoolCoat contains MicroCells, whichare nano-sized spheres, inside of which a vacuum has been created, which helps to dramatically slow heat flux — the rate of heat transfer from one surface to another. In this case, the heat transfer is from the RV’s exterior roofing surface to the RV’s interior surfaces, from where the heat can radiate into the RV. Using such vacuum-filled spheres is similar to the way a Thermos works in keeping liquids hot and cold for an extended period of time.

When CoolCoat cures, the MicroCells become tightly packed and help create a tough coating that reflects and dissipates heat by minimizing heat flux. This allows everything under the roof to stay cooler, longer — thereby reducing the load on air conditioning and saving energy. The durability and longevity of the EPDM coating is also improved. As with the other parts of the coating system, CoolCoat Insulating Coating is easy to apply and dries quickly.

Like Dicor’s EPDM Roof Acrylic Coating, CoolCoat extends the life and beauty of rubber roof membranes in forming a protective barrier with superior resistance to harsh weather and ultraviolet light.

Shipping could be delayed in the case of extreme weather/temperatures to ensure product quality.

I bought the system, cleaner primer and 2 gallons of cool coat. I have an 8x 27 fleetwood. I followed the directions, and I ended up with a finished product that I was very satisfied with. I had one quart left over. It is hot here in Texas and as advertised the product was much cooler than the previous roof. I will use it again when it comes time, for sure.

I have a 1989 26ft prowler travel trailer with a 12ft slide. I used 3 EPDM/cleaner- activator and 1 1/2 gallons of the DICOR CoolCoat. I had about 1/2 gallon left over which i will do a little touch up and redo the seams after the monsoon season is over. The product went on good and after two coats it looks great. We will see how it works in the Texas heat in a couple of weeks. It didn't rain on it and had it out in the sun for about 6 hrs before dark but the next morning it was 38 degrees and a bit of dew on the roof but went to check on it and with the 18 hrs or less of dry time it seems to be ok. I had a pressure washer which made the cleaner/activator easy to get off and didn't do all the plastic and taping the whole camper so when i got done just rinsed the unit real good and does't show any stains or streaks. We average about 240 inches of snow a year so will see how it holds up to our winters up here.

I have a 25ft 5th wheel, I bought 2 bottles pre treat and 4 cans of CoolCoat. Installing plastic drop sheets to protect sides was the hardest part of the process. Tape held that very good. Weather was great, 70 and very low humidity Applied 1.75 bottles of pretreat with 1 gal sprayer and washing/rinse off with pressure washer made it fast and easy. Used brush to trim and medium tape roller to further coat. I feel as if I put on 2 good coats, was left with 2 cans unopened. I work in HVAC and have seen many coatings used in this instance, the finished product was outstanding. What a difference it made to my roof just in appearance and surface texture. The insulation factor will make it all that better.
