I was concerned about installing these awnings myself but the directions were clear and simple. They went on easy and work well. The Alumaguard should keep the awnings in good shape. Time will tell.

I was impressed with the item and especially with the instructions for installation. I and my son had the 144 inch awning installed in a short time with no problems. I was worried when I ordered the awning that I may have a hard time to mount it. But it was really easy by just following the instructions. Thanks for the item and the written word. I had called a local RV dealer and questioned them on the cost of them installing the awning. I was told at least 3 hours at $99 per hour. So I am really a happy camper that I could do it with the help of my son in a lot less than 3 hours, and not 3 X $99.

Based on information provided by the phone ordering center, ordered two window awnings a 48 & 144 (i.e., fabric width = ordering width). Got free shipping and the awnings arrived as scheduled. It became apparent shortly that the awnings were not wide enough for our application. Called customer service and was told to measure window and add 5, then round up to the next standard size. This meant that I now needed three awnings, because 144 was the largest available. (note: I was going to cover two windows with one awning originally) Camping World, shipped the replacement awnings immediately, and picked up the old awnings at no additional shipping cost. Of course I had to pay the difference in the cost for the true sizes, but that is only fair. The awnings went up very easily and they work great. My only complaint in the whole process was that I was originally given incorrect sizing information. CW should have measuring information in the catalog and/or make sure that their representatives are trained properly. Overall Customer Service was excellent and we are very satisfied.

Good Product, Less than Steller Quality Control

I purchased four window awnings from Camper World on-line and received and installed them Friday 6/26/09. The price (when they're on sale) at Camping World was of course very competitive. I believe that the installation went well thanks to the installation video in the Camping World on line catalog, and the "Install a Window Awning in 6 easy steps" blog found at I could have installed all four window awnings in a single afternoon, if not for a couple of unnecessary delays. I had to run to the local hardware store twice because of being shorted parts in the hardware packages apparently due to quality control problems at the Dometic Factory. One item missing was one of the 1/4" stainless steel X 3/4" bolts that secure the awning arms to the the top casting - unique enough that it's not something someone would typically have in their garage as a spare. The second item shorted was two 3/16" X 1" Oscar Rivets. Although these parts were only a few dollars at the local Lowel's Home Improvement Store, taking two 45 minute trips away from the project to go get the parts really set me back. Quality Control at Dometic needs to do better. The only other thing that I would add is that in the instructions there is no mention of preparing to pull the cotter pins before you get to the step where you actually pull them. By that point, you've got the awning hung, and I did a fair amount of paint scratching on both the new awning and my motorhome trying to get behind the awning to straighten out the back of the very long cotter pin. They should advise you in the instructions to prepare the cotter pin for pulling (not to pull it, but to partially straighten it), before you hang the awnings.
