Description

XYLEM - FLOW CONTROL INC 4624
Empty holding tanks through a garden hose into a portable tank, toilet, sewer clean-out port or septic tank.
The Flojet 18555-000 DC portable waste pump is the ideal solution for emptying holding tanks on recreational vehicles and avoiding dump stations. The macerator section grinds waste down to a particle size of 1/8" maximum so it can easily be pumped through a garden hose (5/8" minimum). The pump section is self-priming, permitting the unit to be mounted above the tank in a convenient location.
Empties most recirculating toilets in less than 2 minutes; empties a typical 30-gallon holding tank in less than 3minutes.
The 18555-series waste pump will macerate and pump all waste and tissue normally found in recreational vehicle waste systems.

IT WILL NOT HANDLE HARD SOLID OBJECTS, SANITARY NAPKINS OR RAGS.

Features:

  • Connects directly to the RV waste outlet
  • Eliminates 3" (75 mm) sewer hose
  • Garden hose discharge port
  • Fresh water rinse capabilities
  • Remote handheld on/off switch with 6' (1.8 m) wire harness
  • Ability to dump longer distances
  • Ability to drain holding tanks at home
  • Easy clean up and storage
  • Rugged portable storage case
  • USCG and CSA listed
  • Run dry protection

Grey water hose sold separately (for grey and black water).

SEEMS TO WORK GREAT EVEN THOUGH I HAVE ONLY USED IT A COUPLE OF TIMES. COULD USE A LONGER SET OF LEAD WIRES FOR CONNECTION AND QUICK CONNECTS.

I was hesitant to get this item, and now that I have it, I dont know how I lived without it. We winter in Arizona at my inlaws and this is PERFECT. We never have to move the motorhome, to dump, and we keep everything set up to deal with the black and gray water once/twice a week!

This pump works great. This is the second one I've purchased. The first lasted nearly 4 years before the motor gave out. It helps to keep it lubricated after each use. (I used WD 40 and sprayed it into the inlet where the impellers are.after a thorough rinse from use.)

Good strong motor. With a 3/4 inch hose it will pump 75 ft on the level with no problem. On my Motorhome the wiring took a long time. A 110 volt motor would be nicer.

Worked as advertised. I used a 100ft hose to reach my septic tank and it worked great. I didn't want to hard wire it so I used my emergency battery and just hooked the jumper cables to the bare wires on the pump, couldn't have been easier. No leaks no mess.

We are staying in our RV at our daughter and son-in-law in the country and really did not want to go to the trouble or expense to tie into their septic or move the rv every week. After searching the internet I found this pump. I ordered thru Camping World, the price on the internet was a good bargain and the it arrived sooner than expected and in great condition. We use it weekly and it does just as it claims it will do. No fuss, no mess, we are pumping approx 60 feet, level ground. We purchased the guarantee, at a low cost for our piece of mind. I would recommend this pump. The only issue we encountered was the same as some of the other reviews on the wiring to the battery, not sure what that is all about as my husband is the expert in the department. He had to try several different ideas to get it right and he knows what he is doing.

    Flo-Jet waste pump review

0 out of 0 people found this review helpful.

My 30 foot Springdale trailer has 3 waste tanks...one black and two gray. I just spent 10 days camping after installing ithe flojet and using it. There is a bit of a learning curve to remember to close the waste valves before removing the flojet from the waste gate, juggling the hoses for drainage and flushing, and to run the flush long enough to clear the 50 foot drain hose. I had the opportunity to use the unit daily for 10 days. The wiring provided with the pump did not reach my batteries so I bought enough 10 ga. wire to go from the front of the trailer to the rear of the trailer.. I ordered direct from flojet another 6foot wire with the molded end, now I have two 6 foot wires (one came with the pump) with molded ends. I started at each of the dump stations and worked backward from the waste outlets using zip cords to attach the wires along the existing wires/sewer lines, etc heading toward the batteries, I spliced the wires from the rear tank into the mid tank wires, continued to the battery and used large terminal ends and attached the pos and neg wires to the battery. By buying another wire with the molded end I am able to have permanent electrical connections at each station for the remote switch to connect to. To connect to the pump at each station I added a male/female quick connect/disconnect to the two pump wires. Soooooo, all I do is connect my remote switch to the molded permanent cord ends, snap two wires together and the electrical is ready to to. As for the pump its self, it worked as expected, emptied all three tanks rapidly, 5/8 hose, I always back flush and the external attachment on the pump for that purpose did a great job of getting water up into the tanks. After using the equipment I can now discard 40 feet of red 3 inch sewer hoses, a Y and various fittings that take up a large part of my storage. I like the unit, didn't leak, easy to master, a PIA to do all the electrical but looks good and professional.

Installed pump about 5 years ago (Model # on pump is 18550000A - not 18555000A). This is an original one with the 1 1/4 inch outlet hose. This week the pump jammed and burnt a fuse. One of the long, thin bolts that hold the motor together rusted out, broke and jammed the impeller. The rubber water pump impellers were also coming apart. I guess these things don't last forever.

    Lots of leaks

This pump has potential but has many leaks. Rinse hose connection leaks even with new washer; the back side of the same connection leaks (was loose from factory but still leaks after tightening); rinse cut off valve handle leaks out the stem; where the pump connects to the RV leaks even with a new O ring, as provided in the kit; instructions are not very clear on how to pump tank/rinse etc.. For the price, this pump should come with power cables ready to connect to the RV or other battery with clamps, but instead you have either make them up yourself or try to hard wire the connection - not very practical for a portable pump. It does pump out the tank very well if you don't mind raw sewage leaking all over the pump, the hose, your hands and your driveway.

    Flojet RV Waste Pump Kit

The manufacturer put the pumping capacity for this macerator only in the plastic case, sealed with plastic ties. It is not very good. it can pump only 20 feet using a 5/8 hose, on the level. With an increase to a 3/4 hose it can pump 50feet, again only on the level. This is not very good, and does not give very flexible performance.

Received within a week well packaged and installed easy but did have to purchase a few extra items. Does not come with extra wire and connectors needed to bring 12 V DC power to the switch harness that is included. I added a ball valve on the garden hose(with garden hose to pipe thread adapters) to minimize spillage when breaking down to move or clean. Otherwise installs very easy. Just from experience because we cannot control what goes down the commode there will be on occasion a jam on the impeller (Q-tip etc) which makes you have to take pump housing off the motor to remove blockage. Disconnect discharge hose, disconnect switch harness, and disconnect pump from septic collar. This will be messy but closing black tank valve and hopefully valve on discharge hose will minimize the mess. 2-4 gallon bucket water and bleach handy helps but dip only pump housing not electric motor. There are four 3/8 cap nuts to remove and housing separates easily but be careful not to rip or tear gaskets and note their orientation. There is the macerator side with blade and then the rubber impeller side to pump but the stoppage usually is on the blade, hair, Q-tip, paper towel etc. Remove, rinse, and use plumbers grease to lubricate cap nuts and put pump housing back together. Re install and test. I have found by rinsing tank with water at the end of each empty cycle that minimizes accumulation on level sensors. Another trick I do when the first time pump gets blocked I remove blade from shaft when apart and grind all four edges sharp, as they come just blunt and then they seem to cut through much of the hair and non-RV toilet paper thus less blockage. You will need extra 15 amp fuses, when blockage occurs fuse may blow if you are not quick to shut off. Our first Flo Jet pump worked 175 ft from septic tank and 4 ft below and our second works 200 ft but same level as septic tank. Excellent for distant, up hill non-gravity septic tank dumping.
