XYLEM - FLOW CONTROL INC 4624
Empty holding tanks through a garden hose into a portable tank, toilet, sewer clean-out port or septic tank.
The Flojet 18555-000 DC portable waste pump is the ideal solution for emptying holding tanks on recreational vehicles and avoiding dump stations. Empties most recirculating toilets in less than 2 minutes; empties a typical 30-gallon holding tank in less than 3minutes.
The 18555-series waste pump will macerate and pump all waste and tissue normally found in recreational vehicle waste systems.

IT WILL NOT HANDLE HARD SOLID OBJECTS, SANITARY NAPKINS OR RAGS.

Great device. Empties the tank rapidly. Perfect for when the RV is stationary for long periods and not connected to a clean-out pipe. (Like alongside our son's house) I connect it to a 50 ft 3/4 inch hose which then feeds into four 20 ft lengths of 1 inch plastic pipe for a long mostly level run. It has no problem pumping through this combination. Great product. I've been using for a year now. The case storage is perfect.

Excellent product. Even does well pumping further than recommended. Only thing I would change would be adding a clear section so as to see how well the tank had been flushed.

This is my second Flojet. The first one lasted about 3 years. The old FloJet started to leak at the lower end. My 5th wheel tank connection is somewhat low based on the design of the trailer. A number of RV site connections have been at a higher elevation than the trailer. The FlowJet was a real plus under these conditions. My preference is to use the Flowjet even when it is not required based on elevation. So good product, wish it would have lasted longer.

This little pump is great. I bought it just to clean my tanks at home, but have used it to dump them without a problem. I use 100 feet of 3/4 garden hose and uphill about 5 feet. I power it with a battery that I keep charged, and stored, so I don't have to pull the battery off my trailer. After every use, my tanks show 0% on the gauge. With the built in flush valve, you can back flush your tanks until there is nothing in them except clean water, and then pump that out.. I recommend using a clear drain fitting between the flush valve and the pump so you can see what's going on. I allow about an hour and a half to set up, clean the tanks, and pack everything up, but knowing that my tanks are totally clean is worth the time. All our camping is dry camping (NASCAR, no hook ups) so the piece of mind that my tanks are clean is well worth the price and the time.

This allows me to dump into my drain field at home and save me the cost of driving a bunch of miles to find a dump site. At $4.00 a gallon it will pay for itself quickly. It works really well. Really shoots the stuff fast too. I would recommend it to anyone.

I had a clogged black water holding tank and had quotes from $240 to $350 to unclog so I decided to tackle the job myself and took a chance on the Flojet and am I ever glad that I did! Once I broke through the clog with a 20' plumber's snake I used the Flojet to pump the tank through 50' of garden hose up an incline of about 4' to my sewer cleanout plug. Worked like a champ! We flushed the black water tank 5 times and the gray tank twice. I've never seen both tanks empty on my monitor before until now! Very pleased with this product and I now have a great way to give my tanks a good flush and clean as needed. Highly recommend!

This is one of the best purchases you can make for any RV. It lets you drain both your black and gray tanks into any drain such as a clothes washer drain or sewer line clean out. It uses 12 volt power, and I powered mine by using jumper cables from the coach battery. You have to supply your own 5/8 or 3/4 inch garden hose to pump through. I have pumped up hill as much as 15 feet above the coach, although with more height the pump doesn't pump as fast. I also recommend the 3/4 hose. Emptying both tanks on my coach took less than 10 minutes. It is important not to let this pump run dry. It empties a tank so fast that you don't want to leave it unattended. If it runs dry, you will burn it up. When you are sure your tanks are empty, I suggest you close the valves and run enough fresh water in your tanks to completely empty the solids from your hose. Failure to do this will result in a stinking mess you will have to deal with. We stayed at a relative's home in Florida for 3 months and used the pump weekly with no issues whatsoever. It has already paid for itself several times over in savings of dump fees and the inconvenience of having to take the coach to a dump station. I would suggest that you buy a clear sewer connector so that you can be absolutely sure that your tanks are empty. The only other caution in using this pump is that you should ensure that your power supply wire is heavy enough to supply the amperage the pump needs. My answer was to use a good pair of jumper cables. The cables were convenient and provided ample power to the pump. If you supply the pump with plenty of power, don't run it dry for even 10 seconds, use the right size hose on the discharge, and flush the pump with fresh water, it will last a long time. If you fail to do any of those things, you will shorten the life of your pump.

This pump works great. This is the second one I've purchased. The first lasted nearly 4 years before the motor gave out. It helps to keep it lubricated after each use. (I used WD 40 and sprayed it into the inlet where the impellers are.after a thorough rinse from use.)

Good strong motor. With a 3/4 inch hose it will pump 75 ft on the level with no problem. On my Motorhome the wiring took a long time. A 110 volt motor would be nicer.

Worked as advertised. I used a 100ft hose to reach my septic tank and it worked great. I didn't want to hard wire it so I used my emergency battery and just hooked the jumper cables to the bare wires on the pump, couldn't have been easier. No leaks no mess.

We are staying in our RV at our daughter and son-in-law in the country and really did not want to go to the trouble or expense to tie into their septic or move the rv every week. After searching the internet I found this pump. I ordered thru Camping World, the price on the internet was a good bargain and the it arrived sooner than expected and in great condition. We use it weekly and it does just as it claims it will do. No fuss, no mess, we are pumping approx 60 feet, level ground. We purchased the guarantee, at a low cost for our piece of mind. I would recommend this pump. The only issue we encountered was the same as some of the other reviews on the wiring to the battery, not sure what that is all about as my husband is the expert in the department. He had to try several different ideas to get it right and he knows what he is doing.

    Flo-Jet waste pump review

    July 15, 2012
My 30 foot Springdale trailer has 3 waste tanks...one black and two gray. I just spent 10 days camping after installing ithe flojet and using it. There is a bit of a learning curve to remember to close the waste valves before removing the flojet from the waste gate, juggling the hoses for drainage and flushing, and to run the flush long enough to clear the 50 foot drain hose. I had the opportunity to use the unit daily for 10 days. The wiring provided with the pump did not reach my batteries so I bought enough 10 ga. wire to go from the front of the trailer to the rear of the trailer.. I ordered direct from flojet another 6foot wire with the molded end, now I have two 6 foot wires (one came with the pump) with molded ends. I started at each of the dump stations and worked backward from the waste outlets using zip cords to attach the wires along the existing wires/sewer lines, etc heading toward the batteries, I spliced the wires from the rear tank into the mid tank wires, continued to the battery and used large terminal ends and attached the pos and neg wires to the battery. By buying another wire with the molded end I am able to have permanent electrical connections at each station for the remote switch to connect to. To connect to the pump at each station I added a male/female quick connect/disconnect to the two pump wires. Soooooo, all I do is connect my remote switch to the molded permanent cord ends, snap two wires together and the electrical is ready to to. As for the pump its self, it worked as expected, emptied all three tanks rapidly, 5/8 hose, I always back flush and the external attachment on the pump for that purpose did a great job of getting water up into the tanks. After using the equipment I can now discard 40 feet of red 3 inch sewer hoses, a Y and various fittings that take up a large part of my storage. I like the unit, didn't leak, easy to master, a PIA to do all the electrical but looks good and professional.

Installed pump about 5 years ago (Model # on pump is 18550000A - not 18555000A). This is an original one with the 1 1/4 inch outlet hose. This week the pump jammed and burnt a fuse. One of the long, thin bolts that hold the motor together rusted out, broke and jammed the impeller. The rubber water pump impellers were also coming apart. I guess these things don't last forever.

    Flojet RV waste pump kit

Received within a week well packaged and installed easy but did have to purchase a few extra items. Does not come with extra wire and connectors needed to bring 12 V DC power to the switch harness that is included. I added a ball valve on the garden hose(with garden hose to pipe thread adapters) to minimize spillage when breaking down to move or clean. Otherwise installs very easy. Just from experience because we cannot control what goes down the commode there will be on occasion a jam on the impeller (Q-tip etc) which makes you have to take pump housing off the motor to remove blockage. Disconnect discharge hose, disconnect switch harness, and disconnect pump from septic collar. This will be messy but closing black tank valve and hopefully valve on discharge hose will minimize the mess. 2-4 gallon bucket water and bleach handy helps but dip only pump housing not electric motor. There are four 3/8 cap nuts to remove and housing separates easily but be careful not to rip or tear gaskets and note their orientation. There is the macerator side with blade and then the rubber impeller side to pump but the stoppage usually is on the blade, hair, Q-tip, paper towel etc. Remove, rinse, and use plumbers grease to lubricate cap nuts and put pump housing back together. Re install and test. I have found by rinsing tank with water at the end of each empty cycle that minimizes accumulation on level sensors. Another trick I do when the first time pump gets blocked I remove blade from shaft when apart and grind all four edges sharp, as they come just blunt and then they seem to cut through much of the hair and non-RV toilet paper thus less blockage. You will need extra 15 amp fuses, when blockage occurs fuse may blow if you are not quick to shut off. Our first Flo Jet pump worked 175 ft from septic tank and 4 ft below and our second works 200 ft but same level as septic tank. Excellent for distant, up hill non-gravity septic tank dumping.

System looks good but haven't used yet since I received item three weeks ago. Still gathering items to make system work for me. 20 ft of 10 guage wire and appropriate connectors and fasteners. Also need 100 ft of 3/4 in hose for waste disposal and realize also that I need another 100 ft for input water.

When not on the road I park for extended periods of time at my children's country home. After researching the reviews and speaking to experienced RVers I purchased the FloJet Waste Pump. I added 175' of 3/4 hose to reach the sewer cleanout which is on an approximate 2-3 ' incline. The pump easily handles the distance. The other set of parents park their motorhome about 225' away from the cleanout and we had no problems emptying their tanks. This has been one of the best purchases I have made for our motorhome. No longer do I have to break camp and find a place to empty my waste tanks. On the down side I wish the unit could be used on 110 instead of 12 volt. The 110 receptacle is in the bin with the black/grey water valves. It requires purchasing additional wires, connecting to the aux battery bank and running to the bin. I bypassed this by adding alligator clips and connecting to the car battery. One other problem is the bayonet blades are not a universal size. They do not allow enough room to connect to the sewage drain valve. I found a solution from another RVer when researching. File the opening to provide enough clearance for it to twist on easily with the o-ring in place. I still give it a 5 because it does an excellent job now that I have resolved the wiring and connection issues.

I recently purchased the FloJet because I was going to be parked in driveway of relative in San Diego for 2 months while they recuperated from surgery. Very hard driveway to get in and out of and could not move to dump site. Pumped 100 ft. with 5/8 garden hose run into a toilet bowl. Pumped about 85 gal. of black and grey water in about 30 minutes. Worked very well. After reading all the reviews about a short wiring run being needed I hook up to an emergency starting battery that I bought at costco so that no extra wiring is needed. Works very well . Would give it 5 stars but have just used it for a month and and that is not long enough to tell. I am very pleased with this product so far.

Easy solution to emptying holding tanks from a distance

I was surprised how lightweight the pump was. Installation is just a twist onto the dump pipe. Getting the 12 volt supply to it was the hardest part and it would be nice if they had wired it so the switch came right out of the pump. As it is you need to do almost all of the wiring yourself including the switch. I ended up throwing away most of the wires they supplied and used some much better wire and put battery clamps on the ends to connect to my battery. I use a 100 foot hose with 3/4 inside diameter and pump up hill about 5 feet higher than the trailer to my septic tank. It takes almost a half hour total if the tanks are 3/4 full. But there's been no problems and I'm really glad I got this instead of any of the other more elaborate and expensive plans I was coming up with! I especially like the rinse port on the side of the pump. I rinse it well after each use and when I take it off there is no offending odor.I give it 4 stars instead of 5 only because of the less than ideal wiring they provide.

Very convenient and easy to use. Empties the tank in about the same time as conventional dumping, but allows me to perform the task at home. Depending on where your battery location versus your holding tank connection, you may need additional wiring. Can be wired permanently then twist on and connect the pump as needed. Very happy with this ITT industries product

I used this unit many times over the past 6 years, while building a new home I was able to pump into a porta pottie weekly. I also tow a 30' trailer which keeps me a greater distance form the dump connection. Much neater then the three inch hose. Now I'm at my neices house for the last 2 weeks and have been able to pump directly into their cesspool thur the vent stack, A+ in my book.

We are full-timers and bought this pump 3 years ago and have used it dozens of times without any problems. I would not recommend it for every dump, but when you can't use a standard gravity dump this unit is INDISPENSIBLE! I use a 75' commercial Goodyear 3/4 inch diameter hose typically pumped over level ground (have pumped many times through 3 hoses - 225 feet - about 15 feet down hill in elevation into a commode) and would compare the flow to a typical garden hose on full blast. However I've lifted the end of the hose over 10 feet above my dump valve with no appreciable decrease in flow. On level ground it typically takes me 15-20 minutes of non-stop running to completely evacuate 40 gallons of black followed by 30 or so gallons of grey water (to flush after the black is empty, with the black valve open, simply open grey valve which quickly forces grey water at high volume into the black tank, close the grey valve and re-pump the black tank again several times until clean.) When finished I rinse inside the pump head blades and I've used needle-nose pliers a couple of times to pull out excess hair from the blades, but have never needed to disassemble the pump head. Immediately after use the motor is hot enough to burn you, so I hold onto the pump head while rinsing. As a retired electrical engineer, I would guess that most people don't provide the proper wiring size between the motor and the battery. Check the voltage at the motor when running (pumping waste water under load) and make sure it is close to 12 volts. If the voltage drops while the motor is running, the current (amps) proportionally increases, which will eventually burn-out the motor (carefully read and obey the wiring instructions). The wires can be slightly warm to the touch while the motor is running, but they should NEVER be hot to the touch! Overall I couldn't live without mine and since I haven't had any of the bad experiences noted in these posts, I have to give this product very high marks!

I have owned this for probably 5 years. I use it atleast twice a month during our extended 8 month camping season. I have never experienced any problemas with the pump at all, and i run it longer then they recomend to the point where the motor is so hot you can't touch it. I pump up hill thu a 3/4 diameter hose with no problem also. From the abuse I give it and from some of the reviews on here about it, it should have stopped working about 5 years ago!!!! I don't know what we would do without it.........

I bought the Flojet RV waste pump about a year and a half ago and i have to say it was the best money I ever spent! It has worked flawlessly every time I used it. I spend about 30 minutes draining, back filling, and draining. I also purchased a clear extension so I could see when the tank was clean. I always clean it after each use. I give it five stars and would recommend it to anyone. It's my opinion anyone having problems, isn't using it right.

Wow!! This unit is awesome!! I used to have to wake up early on the departure day of every trip and spend a minimum of 3 hours flushing my tanks. I am a stickler for cleaning my tanks. I could probably be considered anal about it. I had no way of flushing my tanks at home, so I would always have to look for a park with full hook-ups on the way home from a long trip (Not anymore). I was able to flush my tanks out to my satisfaction using a clear adapter. I did have to purchase 12/3 wire suitable for extension cord. I just didn't use the 3rd wire. I liked this type of cord becasue it is easy to roll up and store. I also had to purchase battery clips. I spent an additional $100 with the purchase of 3/4' hose, wire and the battery clips, but it was well worth it. I figured I could save money by stopping at a Wal-mart parking lot on the way home from a long trip. I highly recommend this product!!

I bought my FloJet about 14 months ago. With the flush back system I think I removed things that were left by the last owner of my motor home. It is the best way to handle this part of camping. If you are looking for an answer to the dumping problem this is it. I ran me a 12 volt wire back to the dump valves and all I do is plug in the remote, hook up the hoses and the job will be over so quick you won't know it even happened. By turning on the flush back hose just a little you can run the pump motor and clean the unit before it is ever removed. Don't try this with full water pressure and both drain valves closed. Bad things will happen.

My husband and I have been using this pump for the last 2 years. My husband loves the fact that it is so simple to use that I can do it and after getting home from a long trip the last thing he wants to do is mess with the tanks so now I can do it and it takes about 20 mins to hook it up and empty the tanks and flush and you are done till the next trip. This was the best money we have ever spent and I tell everyone that if u have a rv you should get this it makes a crappy job easier. BETTER than 5 stars

I have never felt like doing a product review before, but this product is the best thing since canned beer. I have a small class B motor coach (Airstream Interstate built on a Sprinter Van) with fairly small grey and black water tanks so they need to be dumped after just about every trip. However, the closest dump station to our home is nearly 35 miles away—a big pain of a round trip just to dump the tanks. With this pump, I am able to run 150 feet of 3/4 hose to my septic tank at the back of my property and save the trip. The black water tank is drained in literally 1 minute and the gray water in a minute and a half. This thing works better than I dreamed to hope.

I was amazed to find that the pump would stay ahead of the built in black tank flush fitting on my rig. I had to use a 100 ft hose on the discharge, on the level, and the pump did a fine job and will pump the black tank empty while city water is being used to flush the tank at the same time. I am very pleased. my only problem was the wiring extension supplied had to be extended to reach my battery bay for a direct connection.

I recently purchased the FloJet RV Waste Pump Kit to pump out the holding tanks of our 5th wheel which we are living in part time while we build our home. The trailer is parked about 60' from the septic system inlet, and I had no way to position the trailer any closer to it in order to use my conventional hoses to dump the holding tanks. I read the Camping World reviews and went ahead and ordered the FloJet pump on 9/18/09, and used it for the first time today, 10/4/09. I had previously spliced on 15' of 12 AWG wire and a pair of battery clamps so that I could connect the pump to the trailer battery. I then attached my clear RV hydrojet to the sewer outlet first, and then connected the FloJet Waste Pump to the clear fitting. With this configuration, I could observe the waste stream and assure myself that the pump was working properly. I then ran a 75' 3/4" hose from the pump outlet to my septic inlet. What I observed when I opened the black water valve and turned on my new pump was nothing short of amazing!! The pump worked flawlessly, grinding the waste stream up and pumping it out in about 9 minutesI I've never been so impressed with the performance of a new product before! After pumping out the black water tank, I opened the gray water tank and pumped that out next. The pump was a joy to use. It didn't heat up at all, and flushed clean when I was done. I would highly recommend this pump, and my only regret is that I didn't buy it sooner!

I just used my flojet for the first time today. I used it with a battery charger and 150' of 3/4" hose. (I carry 25' of 3/4" hose for rv parks). What a pleasure!!! Clean, fast and easy. I'll never use a standard sewer hose again. My sensors had stopped working correctly and with one back flush they were clean and working as they should. This is the only way to go!!!! I HIGHLY recomend this product. You wont be sorry!

I recently received my new FloJet waste pump and have used it three times so far. I connect it to a 3/4" hose 100 feet long and it empties both of my tanks in less than ten minutes, this includes backflushing also. Its nice to see a product that works as stated and I would recommend it to anyone.

I recieved my pump this week and hooked it up. I pumped the tanks out threw 150 ft. of 3/4 inch hose and had no problems. The other nice feature this pump has is a port with a valve to back flush your tank out. I done this and pumped out the tank again. No over heating of the pump at all. It emptied the tanks out completely. I am happy with the pump it will save me the problem of hooking up and taking the trailer about 20 miles to dump the tanks I can do it all at home.

Where we live there's no possibility of installing a sewer connection next to where we park our RV to drain the holding tanks. This left us with the dilemma of either A) emptying and flushing the tanks at the last campground when on our way home and then not using the RV's bathroom again, or B) emptying the holding tanks at home into a 5 gallon bucket, carrying that bucket down a flight of stairs into our basement, pouring it into a toilet, and repeating many, many times. Since we like using our own clean "facilities" when traveling, I got stuck with option 'B' which was a thoroughly nasty job in every respect. That is until I recently graduated to a FloJet RV Waste Pump Kit. My life is forever changed! This works exceptionally well and exactly as others have stated in their reviews. It can pump out the holding tanks faster than I can put more fresh water in through the in-tank flushing system. I bought a 75' long heavy duty 3/4" garden hose at a local chain home improvement store to pump the holding tank contents directly to our basement toilet. If you have any kind of situation where you need to pump holding tank waste, buy this product and you will not be disappointed!

We have been living in our motor home for several months while our house gets rebuilt because of damage from Hurricane Ike. Unfortunately the run was too long to directly connect to the home sewer clean out line so we purchased the FloJet. We use it three times a week without a single problem. We hooked it up to a trickle-charger and are using 150' of 3/4" hose for the waste, and have a 5/8" water hose hooked up for the backwash operation. It is easy to use and IT WORKS!!! So far the FloJet has handled it with ease. This unit has been a life-saver and can't image what we would do without it. I would highly recommend the FloJet to anyone looking for an easy to use alternative to driving to a dump station.

We bought this about year ago & we use it about every 2-3 weeks. It is wonderful! We hook it up to 12volt charger & a hose and pump it about 100 ft. We have never had a problem, and even the wife can use it. Less than 20mins & we dump a 60 gal. tank. We tell everyone about this when they complain about trying to find a dump station. This is the best thing since sliced cheese. Every rv should have one.

We like full hookup + cable, but there are also some really great State Parks we also like to visit which only have one dump station for everybody in the park. We are weekend campers and hate waiting in line for hours for multiple Morks & Mindys to take 20 minutes dumps on Sunday. Home Dumping into a house toilet (close to our garage door) has some real advantages. Did I mention not waiting in endless lines? First, dump the black water (toilet water) into your home toilet. Second, dump your gray warer (sink/shower water) into the same. The second dump helps clean the hose. High quality motors are thermally protected. If they over-heat they will shut down. If this happens it means that the pump motor is defective or you are flushing bad things. If the pump locks up, it is probably our fault. Flushable Wipes are marginally ok for home, but NOT in your RV. Only truly RV/Marine TP should be used. Facial tissue and other hygiene products should go into appropriate containers, not our RV toilets. Take 2 sheets of whatever TP you are using now, add them to a glass of water. Stir. If they do not desolve quickly, ask for help at Camping World. Inappropriate disposal will destroy your pump and void your warranty. PS After dumping, add at least 1 to 5 gallons of fresh water to both your gray and black tanks. For a pop-up a gallon is good. Larger rigs need more. After dumping our Southwind, I add 5 gallons of fresh water to the 40 gallon black tank and 5 gallons to the 60 gallon gray tank. Do NOT add anyting to your fresh water tank during camping season except fresh water. Flush between each fill. PPS Water also weighs over 8 pounds per gallon. 100 G = +800#. If you camp has good water, fill when you arrive. Drain down b-4 you come home. Your home water bill and your RV fuel credit card charges will be much improved.

What a great product, I was very skeptical about its abilities but it pumps waste a 100' through 3/4 hose up a 15% grade with out any problems with over heating. I pump the waste into my septic system at my recreation property and after camping, instead of wasting our time at a dumping station ( which there is only one that we pass on our way home and its always busy) I pump the waste into my sewer clean out at my home. I personally never rate products of any kind because they usually fall short of their claims, but this one works better than I could of hoped.

The State Park purchased a FloJet pump, as there was no sewer connection in the campground Host site. I assembled the wiring harness, & secured the recommended hoses. We very easily pumped out my full black water tank (125) one-hundred-twenty-five feet and up a five foot rise into a restroom toilet. I also easily rinsed the tank clean, in much less time and effort than driving around the Campground to dump. The 3/4 outlet hose and a clear elbow on the tank outlet are a must have, as is a person on the end of the hose. I highly recommend the FloJet Pump, however the I had to shop elswhere for the three-quarter inch hose and alligator-battery clips. I hope to buy my own this year.

I had initialy thought of buying a sewer tote, but I am glad that I decided to by a FLOJET. I was set up at a beautiful camp site on one of our area lakes, but there was no sewer hook up. After much research I purchaced a FLOJET. I had a run of about 100 feet to a sewer inlet; with 5/8 garden hose. The unit worked beyond my expectations. I am also able to empty my tanks while my trailer is parked in my yard at home. I just run the hose to a toilet on the ground floor of my home. I have recomended this product to some of my camping buddies.

We winter in Fla and we were going about 25 miles one way to dump every 3 weeks or so, finally took the plunge and boy we are glad we did!! We now pump out our tanks about every 3 weeks and we are pumping thru 5/8 garden hose over 175 ft fairly level, I have a total of 85 gallons to pump plus flushing after. It has never overheated and stopped on me but it does get very warm! If in a hurry I wrap a cold damp rag around the motor and I have pumped it all at once without stopping that way with no problems. I fully flush and clean the pump after every use, I have found thread and hair wrapped around the impeller and I reach in with a long pair of curved needle nose pliers to remove anything around it. You will want a clear fitting or hose. I would recommend this to any one!

We are currently parked beside our home that is being remodeled. The FloJet empties 3 tanks (40 gal each), up a slight incline to our septic tank appox 80 feet away. Although it is not as fast as dumping at a dump station, it’s more convenient. I would recommend the FloJet to anyone where a dump station is not available. It performs better that expected.

Don't wait in line, Dump at home

Been waiting for months to have a need to try this out. Started a series of dry camp weekends where I did not want the hassle of finding a dump or waiting in the long line at the park. I extended the included wiring harness to tap into a near-by DC circuit in a storage compartment and left enough lead to have the harness pulled to outside near the tank outlet when needed. That was the most time consuming of the installation. After that it was just hook up to the drain outlet, plug in the harness, turn on and dump away. I have a sewer clean-out at my house in the front, so I just run a hose up from the street to the clean-out about 35 feet. Dumped all 3 tanks in about 15 minutes. I doubt I will ever wait in any line at a dump station again. Have the peace of mind that we can use the toilet in the trailer on the way home if needed and not have to deal with gas station restrooms.

This is a must item if you cannot always dump at a dumping station. Not only does it work great but it exceeded expectations. We have been staying in our Motor Home since Sept while we build an addition on our daughters home since we have sold ours. We are camped behind an Office with the nearest dump station far away. We purchased the pump so that we would not have to move, we are 100' from the sewer connection. I used a 3/4 pex plastic tubing which I connected a Hose fitting to and it pump with our the motor getting hot nor did it ever plug up. We let the Black tank get 2/4 full then hook up the pump and let it go. Motor doesn't overheat and I think it works great!

FloJet RV Waste Pump Kit…A MUST HAVE!

    November 04, 2007
I just had to do a review on this product. This is a must have for those of you that dump at home. I have been looking at the FloJet for quite some time now but just wasn’t sure if the price warranted it. I have a dump station that I put in years ago when we had a class “C” motor home. But now with our class “A” it doesn’t work. I need to back the rig into the driveway and with the 9in slope to the street it will only drain about a 1/3 of the tank. So, I built ramps (didn’t want to spend the money on the FloJet) to get it up 9in to level it out. This worked but it took both my wife and I to do it and I just didn’t feel safe doing it this way. Also the nose sticks too far out in the street. I park on the other side of the house and that puts it too faraway from the dump. I knew I had to come up with a way I could dump my tanks. After reading all of the reviews I sucked it up and ordered a FloJet. Got it Friday night and Saturday morning I was out trying it out. From the reviews I knew I had to have the clear hose and the clear view drain fitting but I just wanted to see if there was anything else I needed. As soon as I hooked everything up I knew it was a must to have those items. Wasn’t sure where I was going to get my power from though. I have a 12 volt jump-it (for batteries) so I got that out and that works great. Also, with the 65 feet to the dump I wasn’t real sure how the pump was going to handle that. Just for the heck of it I put a 50 foot x 5/8 garden hose together with a 25 footer (cut the 25 footer down so it would just reach my drain). Crossed my fingers, opened the black water drain and hit the button. It worked, it really worked and no over heating. I didn’t finish because I wanted to get the other stuff and see what was going on. We went down this morning and bought those items. It’s so much better when you can clearly see if it’s clean and drained all the way. I highly recommend the FloJet RV Waste Pump Kit. It works better than I had expected.

I bought my FloJet RV Waste pump in the late fall of 2006. The first time I used it, It did everything that it was supposed to do. The second time I had to use it was this spring. I keep my 5th wheel parked next to my workshop, ready to go and ocassionaly have to use it when I can't make the house. the third time I used it, it would not start using the 12 volt outlet at my docking station. After some work, I finally got it to work. The fourth time I used it, it ran for about 5 minutes and then quite. After disessembling the pump and motor, I found that the brush holders on the motor had overheated and melted, causing the brushes to stick. It took some work to free everything up and get it working. Now it does its' job. It is a great device but it need some way to cool the motor and it does need a heavier fuse than the 20 amp supplied I had to switch to a 30 amp. It will empty my 45gal black tank and two45 gal gray tanks in about ten minutes.

I just received my FloJet pump and it is great. I can't say it pumps quite as fast as others say but then again, I didn't time it. I use a battery pack with alligator clips and it ran fine. Your going to need a fresh water hose hookup so remote locations where you use onboard water, might be tricky. It seems like a lot of hookup (power source, fresh hose, waste hose and main power unit) but except for time, it works fine. It sure beats the big clumsy hoses and in my case, the leaking joints because I needed to join more than one.

I recently purchased the FloJet with some reservations. I needed to pump waste 175 ft up a slight incline and the pump rating was 50 ft max on level ground. I spanned the 175 ft using 1 inch plastic conduit pipe. I linked that to the pump with a 1 inch clear plastic hose to view the cleaning process. I was very pleasantly surprised. Not only did it pump the sewage the long distance up hill but did it in record time - about 2 minutes for the 40 gal black and 3 1/2 minutes for the 70 gal grey tank. This pump does what it says it will do and much more.

Yep. Do it at home now. I bought a black hose from Wally World. Mated this with to a 45deg clear elbow, tied the power into the compartment light switch and voila... sit back, enjoy a beverage and let the FloJet rock and roll for you. The water hose connection lets you flush the tanks out clean a few times as well. Just check your connections well and ensure you have the motor rotation right (dont ask me how I know ... LOL) A must have!!

Very convenient, I soldered battery clips to the wires rather than installing a crimping style because of the anticipated extended amperage load for a prolonged period. Then, connected to the discharge pipe and pumped all 3 tanks, 120 gallons, uphill a distance of 100 feet through a 5/8 hose with an approximately 8 foot rise in less than 20 minutes. Great Pump.

    FloJet RV Waste Pump kit

Fantastic product ! We had set up our 5'th wheel at our cabin at the lake that has a holding tank. We put a 1" black plastic pipe under the driveway and connected it to the holding tank on the RV. With the pump we are able to empty our RV black tank with ease. We used a short reinforced clear pipe at the pump joined to the 1" plastic pipe. We are able to see the liquid black water and know when extra water is required. Works great.

    Excellent Product

After purchasing this item I read in the instructions that it needs 12 VDC to operate through clips attached to a battery. I went one step further and added a power plug for a cigerette lighter to the end of the wiring and a power outlet inside a compartment close to the sewer connector. The outlet is protected by a 20 amp fuse and there is a 20 amp fuse in the power plug. The pump performed as advertised and emptied my holding tank (with a 100 foot 3/4 inch hose) and I was able to flush the tank and completly clean it without the worry of someone else needing a waste facility. Although it is a little pricey, I believe it will pay for itsself in convienence of not having to find a waste facility.

I always dump at campgrounds so I'm not carrying extra weight when headed home. I bought this so I can do a good job of back flushing at home. Back flushing is simple and works well. In my situation, it pumps a VERY strong stream 75' through 3/4" hose on level ground to my home's sewer cleanout. Based on what I see come out of the hose, we all need to back flush. This product makes it easy and convenient. Well worth the money.

    Expensive but worth it!

After reading the other reviews, I bought the FloJet and although it's expensive, it's worth it. I got around the problem of power by running a wire from the battery along the frame to the back of the trailer next to the sewer connections. I bought a waterproof box similar to the cable TV outlet box and drilled two holes in the fiberglass siding where I used two machine screws with lock nuts. Ground the neg terminal to the chassis and hook up the other to the positive and MARK THEM + & -. With the cover closed it's waterproof and all you need to do is connect allegator clips to the wires and you're off and running. Haven't noticed any problems with the fuse that's in mine, but will put in a 20 amp if I have trouble. This thing works like a champ! We always seem to have to use the bathroom on our way home from camping so now I don't have to drive 14 miles to a campground and pay $6.00 to dump. I just connect to a drain cleanout beneath the garage wash tub and in 10 minutes it's all done. No smell, no spills, and better yet no extra expense to dump. This is a "must have" for anybody who can't dump at a facility.

Our plans to take our 37' motorhome to another state and spend the summer with kids/grandkids were all coming together -- except for one final glitch. We had a nice place to park in the back yard, with 30amp power, cable tv connection, fresh water, but we thought we were going to have to pack up, disconnect, and make a 10 mile round trip to the nearest dump station every few days. After scratching our heads for weeks in an attempt to come up with a better solution for the wastewater problem, we discovered a promising new product, the FloJet RV Waste Pump Kit. We had never used such a device, but after reading all the positive reviews, decided to purchase one. After arrival and setup, a friend assisted in wiring the power cord into a spare 20amp circuit. He ran the other end into the sewer compartment, where the snap-together-electrical connection makes for a convenient and easily accessible hookup. Finally, it was time for the acid test. I used a 5/8" 50' garden hose and ran the hose to a convenient sewer opening. Voila! I couldn't believe how efficient and quick the whole process was. In just a few minutes, I had dumped the 40-gallon black tank, then the 60-gallon grey water tank. Afterwards, I backflushed and dumped both tanks. The entire process was quick, painless, and extremely efficient. The pump kit stows nicely in the plastic carry case that comes with it, and then gets conveniently put into a pull-out drawer until the next use. I also peeled off the sticky label from the inside of the carry case, and re-pasted it in a very prominent location, so I can easily reference the instructions during use. If you have any kind of situation where you want to dump your holding tanks without an expensive and time-consuming trip to an RV dump station, then this product is for you. It worked as advertised, and once you get it set up (wired in, etc.) it is simply a breeze to use.

Freedom from dump stations is a great feeling. A weekend trip, no access to a dump station, no sweat, no hassel, no problem. Hook it up, connect a hose to house sewer cleanout and pump away. You can even clean flush the tank several times. I love it.

    Great Product, Poor Instructions

I agree with all the other reviews. This product worked great. My only concern was the instructions. It said to use a 20 amp fuse. There is a 15 amp fuse in the handle so I added an additional 20 amp. This seems like over kill and the drawing does not address this. Also the one review that said to open your valves before turning the water on is right on. The instructions should make note of this. After installation, draining both tanks took less than 10 minutes. Again, this is a great product.

No more waiting in line on your way home from the Dunes or any weekend trip. I pump up hill 100ft with ZERO effert. I wasted 1-1 1/2 hours every trip stopping to dump. Now it takes 10-15 minutes to set it up and dump at HOME. Just follow the instructions and you to can dump at home. This by far is the BEST iteam I have ever purchased from camping world because it WORKS GREAT.

No more sewer hoses/connections to deal with!!!!

I had my dealer put an 12V electrical outlet under my trailer near the sewer drain valve to power the unit...no extra batteries needed. I can hook it up to 12V power and the sewer drain valve in less than a minute, run the garden hose from the unit to the sewer drain port, and drain my black or grey tank in only a few additional minutes. The unit comes with a hand held switch which enables you too trun the unit on and off while you stand there and watch the unit drain your tanks. I recommend getting a clear 45 degree sewer connection to put between your sewer drain outlet and the unit so you can see what is taking place as the sewage leaves your tanks and enters the unit. These cost only a couple or three dollars extra and are really worth the money because you can see how clear or dark your discharge is and that tells you how well your tank is clearing itself of the sewage. If you are remote camping and have a container to drain your sewage into, you can place your container in your truck or car and the unit will easily punp your black water up into the container and you can drive your container to the nearest dump station for emptying. No more hauling the blue goose (very slowly) behind your vehicle. You can now take your black water miles away, if necessary, to dump. The unit has a built-in connection for a water hose so you can back flush your drains and tanks with clear fresh water from your fresh water source to flush out your tanks. You can use the unit with or wothout using this feature, however. I really like not having to deal with sewer hoses, stands, boards, and couplings any more. I recommend you get two more items when you buy this unit. First, you need the Foam Sewer Seal (item #4496 in the Camping World cataloge) and a Grey Water Drain Adaptor (item #13739 in the cataloge). These items allow you to frimly attach your garden hose outlet to a sewer drain and cut off any odor problems from the sewer system.

    A better mouse trap!

I'm always looking for the proverbial "better mouse trap." While on a Habitat for Humanity project in FL. There were 20+ RVs crammed in this parking lot. We had managed to run some power and water but sewage was problematic. The sound of blue boys halling crap was on going. Then a fellow showed up with a Flojet pump. Wow! Did it ever change the definition of "happy hour." The longest run to the sewer was about 200 feet , too long for hose. So we ran 100 feet of 1' pvc with a hose connection and ball cock on the end, Then everyone was within discharge distance. The Flojet was well used, it's owner was the MVP and we were all Happy Campers. I'm now back home and ordering a Flojet today. Thanks to Camping World for having it on sale when I need it. I was a little worried on if this thing was going to do what it stated. Well no more worries tried it for the first time tonight with full black and gray tanks. It worked like a charm. And thats using a 5/8 dia x 125 ft drain hose and going up about a 3 ft hill. Had both tanks emptied and flushed and everything put away in about 20 minutes. the instrictions stated 5/8 x 25 ft hose and if you use longer overheating may occur. Well 125 ft the pump never got hot at all I'm very impressed and believe me thats hard to do! Thank You Cutter

Bought my FloJet Waste Pump about 6 or 7 months ago and have really enjoyed being able to go our to the desert and come home without having to try to find somewhere to dump waste. In my area they charge $4.50 to $12.50 just to dump your waste. It only takes me about 15 minutes and I am ready to go camping again. If you follow the instructions it really works well.

I received mine a few days ago and needed it to empty out a few gallons into the blue tote. Due to the low clearance of my trailer this is always a challenge. Rigged up some alligator clips to the pump and WOW! I was able to empty and rinse and pump it uphill using a short hose into the tote. I will be using this instead of the RV dealer's dump station when I have to bring a load home or at a campsite with sewer holes that maybe close to the height of my dump outlet.

We purchased this pump about two years ago and I will say it is a life saver and lives up to its recommened use very well. We pump out our holding tanks with very little effort . I have pumped 100 feet with a two foot rise at end with no trouble at all. I believe some of the complaints are from people who should not use this item as they probably also have trouble walking and talking at the same time.

After reading the other review's before buying . I thought the best way to use this was put it on the end of a 3 inch hose not to the RV conn. I had a old hose with some holes, so used about one about 2 feet long. After the frist time I would say this is the best way to use this item, with out the truble others have had.

My RV parked about 30 ft away from my nearest sewer clean-out line and about 2 ft elevation. This FloJet pump out so quick (2-3 mins to empty). The only bad thing is that you need to power this unit with 12V battery so I have to carry heavy 24 group side battery to power this thing up!

    FINALLY! A PRODUCT THAT WORKS!

I've been looking for a system that would allow me to dump at home. I originally purchased the Sewer Solution. Although it worked ok for about 10' & level, I needed 30' with a 1' rise at the end to my residential sewage line. The water pressure barely pushed anything out at 30'. Disappointed, I looked around for another solution. I read about the FloJet and thought I would give it a try. I had already dumped a $100(no pun intended), what's another $200, I thought to myself. Well you get what you pay for. This thing shoots out like a fire hose at 30'! I was surprised that it actually works! One warning though. Make sure your sewage valves are open when you turn on the fresh water valve with the pump switch off. I hooked it up and imeditately turned on the fresh water with the pump off and my sewage valves closed. Well lets just say that the sewage valves are not designed for retaining pressure. When the pump is off, water is not allowed to drain past the motor. I guess I should have read the instructions first. The only downside of this product is that it is a bit heavy and bulky. It does come with a nice case. Not sure how the long term durability is but it does look & feel like it is heavy duty quality. Definately recommended!

I tried a hook it up myself and use it all the time. It didn't work. I burnt out my water pump or 10 amp limiter(still working on it). When it worked, it was great and when I get help on reinstallation, I will use it part time as intended and I will be a happy full timer. I will definately use in at the upcomming RV rally in Oregon this year as I am getting the professionals on it this month. My advice is to definately not hook it up through the water pump even if it is the closest and easiest access point for power.

I have been looking for a solution to draining my holding tanks at home. I read the product reviews for this item and decided to give it a try based on the good rating. As stated by the others - this product works FANTASTIC! I am using a 75 foot 3/4 inch hose to run 55 feet from my coach to the sewer clean out. It gets the job done in no time at all. The push button on/off switch allows you to turn it on and let it run until you hear the unit running dry. I use a clear 4" connector tube in order to monitor the process. I highly recommend this product to anyone who wants to dump at home and has a clean out.

The preliminary wiring that I needed to do was a bit confusing as I had never used butt connectors before. Also, the wires that were to go to the house battery were a couple of feet short and I had to use my car battery. Once these obstacles were overcome, the rest was simple. Saved me a trip to the nearest campground (about 40 miles round trip). Was clean, efficient, fast and convenient.

I pumped through 100 ft of hose up about 6 ft and it pumped as fast as my flush put water in the tanks. Great pump. Only one problem. The pump stopped and I thought it had overheated (it gets very hot). The pump is shipped with an undersized fuse in the switch handle. The pump calls for a 20 amp fuse and there was a 15 amp in the handle. Peak amp draw labelled on the pump is 16 amps. Otherwise, I could not ask for anything more.

Have used this pump over 2 dozen times already to pump out my black tank. It has worked flawlessly every time. Even though the cost of the pump is high, it was cheaper then adding a costly clean out to my sewer system at home. I no longer have to worry about where to dump. It was easy to wire. It is easy to use. It drains my 30 gallon black tank in about 7 minutes, and pumps the sewage right into my home clean out, 75' away.

This pump is worth every penny. Works better than advertised. It will pump over 50 ft and up a slight incline with 3/4 waste hose. And talk about fast dumping, it is twice as fast as gravity dumping. Great for dumping at home into sewer cleanout. Plus the bonus to back flush your tanks and drain them with this pump.
