Not intuitive to use. Hard to get it to display POI when you are trying to establish a history. Screen is hard to read in bright sunlight. On line tutorial is okay, but does not walk you through scenarios well.
    Pros: Good navigation
Cons: Poor battery life, Can't read the screen when wearing sunglasses, Difficult to program without an established history

    Improvement

I haven't seen any real comparison of this model to the previous model 7725. I have both. With the exception of the screen being SLIGHTLY brighter on the old version and the longer battery life (7725=1hr, 7735=15mins!), the new 7735 seems to be an overall improvement. It is more than twice as fast and the higher resolution display is also nice. They have also corrected a few quirks such as now the "Summary Map View" actually draws a map, and they have added the ability to zoom in on that view so you can see trip route details. Remember any GPS is another trip planning tool, NOT the final answer, they will all occasionally make mistakes. The final route is best determined with the computer sitting on your shoulders. If you don't already have a current RV GPS, this is the one to get. If you currently have a 7725, I still think this one is an upgrade worthy of consideration, primarily because of the increased speed.
    Pros: Excellent features
Cons: Poor battery life, Screen difficult to read with polarized sunglasses

    He drives, I navigate

Before we purchased the Good Sam GPS, we took a trip from WI to Branson MO. I had mapped the trip using the trip planner, so I used my Kindle Fire to consult the mapped trip. Then, I used my phone and our truck's navigation to figure out where we were. I decided that I needed one device, so we purchased the GS GPS. I love that I can download my trip from the Trip Planner, and I can find GS parks and Flying J truck stops easily. I love the large screen, and everything about it except that in bright sunlight it is very difficult to see, even with the brightness turned way up. We thought there must be a protective film on the screen but couldn't find anything to remove so realized it was just how it was manufactured. If I hold the device below the dash where the sun doesn't hit, it is as bright as can be and very easy to read. So, for navigation, I give it 5 stars, but for the visibility in the sun I give it 4. Since I am in charge of navigation and keeping us heading in the right direction, I always consult a regular map when planning our trip, and we are keeping a road atlas in the truck for reference. I never rely on any navigation to be 100% accurate, just as a road map can't tell you that a road washed out six hours earlier. So for those of you looking for a good GPS, I recommend this one, and I advise that with any GPS/Navigation system you consult more than one source. We are getting ready to head south for the winter, and this is going to come in handy with all of the extra features included for RV drivers.
Pros: Excellent features, Easy to use, Good navigation, Helpful
    Cons: Washed out display

Hard to see if it's sunny

We just drove 1,000 miles with our new 7735. It took us on some roads that were hard to travel with an RV. We had to pull out a map to get out of the mess we were in. The screen is hard to read if sunny. Can't read it at all if I wear my sunglasses. I'm going to return it.
Cons: Can't read the screen when wearing sunglasses

It kept telling us to take the exit then get back on the freeway (stupid). It would calculate the route and freeze up immediately. I downloaded every update to no avail. I did a lot of research and saw that most people had the same problems as I have had with the unit. Thank goodness I purchased the extended warranty, I am on my way to pick up the replacement. After reading the current reviews, I am not feeling too optimistic that this will be any better. Hope I am wrong, but I will repost the results after my next trip in January 2015. Camping World was very helpful in the situation.
    Cons: Unreliable

I love all the features they tried to include, but they just didn't get the bugs out before it hit the market. Worst display I've seen (I've had 12 other GPS's) even with a shade I can't see it on the dash during the day. Poor customer service and slow repair time.
    Pros: Excellent features
Cons: Poor battery life, Poor customer service, Washed out display

    Nice features but squirrelly behavior

Bought unit in Atlanta, GA and used it on trip to Dallas, San Antonio, Yuma and Redlands, CA. Unit often had us in the wrong lane and go the wrong way at exits. Often had destination on wrong side of highway and 1/2 mile or more beyond where it actually was. Couldn't trust route selections and had to double check using Google Maps and paper road maps. Unit still had many of the shortcomings identified in reviews written in 2012. You can have the unit notify you when a POI is near by, such a Flying J. Problem is, it doesn't notify you in advance. We were usually beyond the exit when it notified us. Returned the unit in CA.

Recently purchased and first used on our trip from OKC to Albuquerque. It took awhile to figure out (the owner's manual was marginally helpful) how to program a trip, but once activated, the unit's instructions were spot-on. Still learning all the options, but I give it an excellent rating at this point.

    Weird routing

    October 12, 2014
We have used this for the last 25 days with our RV and are fed up with its ridiculous routing. One time it sent us to a spot five miles from the actual destination (which was a Good Sam park). One time it had us turn right then make a u-turn. Why didn't it just have us turn left? The tolls are not accurate, actually forgot one bridge toll altogether. Just yesterday it told us to turn on a non-existent dirt road to enter a Good Sam park. I would not recommend this at all.

Love it so far. What I like about this is I can map out the whole trip with trip planner and and put it in the unit with a quick download. Goes form one point to the other just great. The main thing I do not like is short battery and no map function to show my whole trip. There is a lot it gives you for information. Easy to set up. Hope it keeps working like it has been. Will now get the traffic cord now. I think they could have given it for free and a house charger.

    Customer Service is SLOW

I wanted to like this GPS. My first RV GPS, I thought Rand McNally would be the one to go with. I might have been wrong. On my first trip with this it worked great until I got in construction traffic where a turn was coming up. It FROZE and said something about memory. I could not turn it off or get it to respond. I unplugged it and let the battery run down. I had to get my iPhone out to complete my trip. When I contacted Customer Service they said this happens when left on for too long. I had turned it on and it was running about six hours, I guess you have to take quick trips. Then I called and was told I did not have it plugged into the proper power port in my van. It was in the power port, not the cigarette lighter. The power outlet was designed for this, as many vehicles don't put cigarette lighters in them any more. I will keep my iPhone ready while using this in the future. Would not recommend this device. Rand McNally Customer Service is not very helpful. I had a rep. that when I asked to talk to someone else because were weren't on the same page said NO, so I had to hang up and call back.

First used this on a trip to Chattanooga, TN. Worked fine getting us from Raccoon Mtn Campground to the convention center and back the first day. The second day at the turn off of I24 to 27 it lost it's mind - began issuing multiple, contradictory directions all at once. Repeated this behavior on the way from the convention center back to the campground. Glad I was familiar with the area and not driving the RV at the time!

The unit worked well connected to the laptop. When plugged in to the RV, the charger did not work. A different cable was used and the unit rebooted itself at random, causing the destination and beginning of the route to be re-entered. The add on real time traffic does not work either.

    Good Sam GPS 7735 LM

A solid unit, looks good, rubber protection around the edges, but no protection for the screen. A cover is an extra cost option or accessory. Seems to work just fine, some suggested routes are ridiculous (maybe scenic); most routes are what I have figured out myself in 50 plus years of driving the West. I hope the routes in the East are as good. The battery seems to be very small. When fully charged according to the indicator light, the screen will announce Low Battery as soon as the unit is turned on. Plugging it in to the vehicle 12 volt source allows the unit to work OK. The windshield mount seems very adjustable though I have not yet tried mounting the unit. The suction cup mark on the windshield seems to be a signal to thieves that a GPS unit worth stealing is somewhere on board and I don't need that threat. It'll have to be hand held. I am totally satisfied so far with this purchase. The apparently small battery keeps me from rating this 5 stars.

Easy to program. Just wish there was a sliding scale adjustment to the brightness scale instead of the definitive squares. Hard to see with polarized sunglasses on.
