I have had this installed in a 18-wheeler on a shore power setup for a few years and around 1/2 million miles criss crossing the country now and my battery's (a bank of 4 group 31s) have lasted over twice as long as they used to last prior to installing it. The charger is powered by my APU when I'm parked at night on the road and by shore power when I'm home. I've no doubt that the increase in battery life is due to the battery maintenance feature.
