Not as easy as you think.

I bought two of these to install on my Winnebago Motor Home. The video shows an easy install, but of course it is done on a simulated roof on the ground. When you get up on top of your MH it is a bit more challenging. Also the video shows an install into a aluminum collar of the vent. I have an electric vent with a plastic collar. The screws provided don't go all the way through the collar and the other sheet metal screws do work into the plastic collar, but not all the way. I wonder if they will keep the cover secure in use. After the install it seems secure enough. The other vent is over the bathroom and on the side of the top of the roof. So it is a bit more of a challenge to get the holes drilled and screws securing the cover because you are on the side of the roof. Instead of taking less than a half of an hour to install as I expected it took me several hours. Hope it stays secured, I will have to check periodically.

Comments on "More Hardware Please"

I can tell what happened in the "More Hardware Please" review. Each bracket has 2 small holes for self tapping screws (not provided) for installation on a vent with a powered fan and a larger slot to receive the single machine screw, lock washer, flat washer, and nut on a vent without a powered fan. The instructions are clear that he should have drilled a single hole for the slot on each bracket but he drilled two holes instead. That is why the two holes in the bracket were too small for the machine screws and that is why he only had half the hardware that he thought he needed. Always read the instructions first at least twice before starting and then read them again step by step as you do the install. It is easy to blame the product when you disregard the instructions and then have problems. This vent cover is the best one that MaxxAir has come up with. It has a larger open area than the MaxxFan and does not rock back and forth and is therefore better over a powered fan.

Installed two MaxxAir II vent covers and so far have been pleased with their overall quality. Came with all hardware, although instructions were a little vague first step or two. Having an extra person inside RV makes it easier.

Instructions are a little confusing, but logic will guide you. Works very well in all types of weather, and allows the vent to be left open for ventilation, while even on the road in the rain!

More hardware please

This is a nice vent cover but it only came with enough hardware to put on one side of the brackets. Also the holes in the brackets had to be drilled bigger for the hardware to fit. After running to the hardware store and getting what I needed I managed to get the cover installed.
