This unit catches more moths than mosquitos, and if it diminished our overall problem in the backyard, it wasn't enough to let us spend more unmolested evening time on the patio or in the garden. I can't say, after trying the product both with and without, that adding the octenegol pads make any noticeable difference in mosquitos caught. I also have trouble with the power connector on the back of the device because it isn't solidly fastened, and affixing the cord to the unit is usually a struggle to get and maintain a secure, reliable connection. The catch bowl access door has never fit very well, and is clumsily designed, so it is tricky to put a freshened bowl inside without slopping fluid. And the black skirt material turned gray after a summer of sun exposure. The biggest issue is that the program control panel, though it had a read out, failed to take programming input not long after warranty expiration. The company wanted a small fortune for a new panel, so we now have to manually plug it in in the evening, when the bugs come out, and remember to unplug it in the morning - a bit of a pain, esp. given we originally paid for a model with the expectation we wouldn't have to do that daily. All that said, the stand and power cord are excellent quality and design, and the unit does catch a lot of various insects, whether pesky or not.
