30 amp cords too short

Purchased at least four years ago, my 30 amp Surge Guard is absolutely silent and
does the tasks as described by the manufacturer. My setup is with the power cord routed into the utility compartment to a Hughs Autoformer, then to the Surge Guard, then to the motorhome power input connector. The instructions say the unit should be operated in a verticle position but with my configuration that is imposible because the power leads at both ends of the unit are too short and do not accomodate flecible mounting options. If the leads were three times longer I would give it five stars.

This is our second Surge Guard 30 Amp Portable Surge Protector. We keep one in the RV toy hauler and one at our
home hookup. Has saved us at two different campgrounds with wiring issues as well as our home when the electrician had wired our 30 amp service improperly. The piece of mind is well worth the price/protection of the unit...

A must have item

I waited until this item went on a deep sale and finally
purchased as a companion to my 50 amp Surge Guard. We
witnessed a power surge at a very popular campground
recently and a few RV's had blown systems and we did not due
to having this item. This should be included with the
purchase of your RV or the permanent mount model installed
at the factory before delivery to dealerships. Volume
pricing added to the MSRP would not even be noticed and your
electronic on-board systems would be protected.

Piece of mind

This does hum a bit but it hangs on power post and I can't hear it in the RV.
It will save you a ton of cash if you get high or low voltage. A/C hates low voltage and the refer is 1500+
Cheep insurance.

I purchaesd this more for the piece of mind that goes with knowing our electrical
components to our motorhome are protected against power spikes and dips. We have
only used it a couple of times but it is evident from the outset that it is a well built
product. The interesting thing is that there is a 2 1/4 minute delay after plugging it in that
it does a series of tests before allowing the power to transfer to the FV.

I have this product and it has already saved me twice. Once
there was too much power and it would not even allow power
to the RV. The next time the box was mis-wired. Everyone
needs to have one of these.

too noisy

I bought the 30 amp protector appx 3years ago used it only about 4 different trips and the surge guard kept getting louder and louder. It was so loud that it would annoy us and other campers. I contacted camping world and the manufacturer and neither would do anything about the problem. It was a pretty expensive product to only be able to use so few times. If you purchase one please check for any noise and return immediately I wish I had done so.

Prior to purchasing the MODEL 34730 we had a 30 amp outlet installed on the side of our home -- after purchasing the surge guard we used it for the first time at home (when we first powered the unit up - the caution light indicated that we had a problem with the home wiring or a grounding issue) we then contacted our electrician and he discovered that the 30 amp outlet was wired wrong -- he corrected the problem and the warning indicator light went out as it was supposed to -- even though the Surge Guard is expensive -- it did the job and raised my confidence level in the product !!!
