Great value

This is a good product. Good indicators to show many different types of faults. The only drawback is that the three green lights that indicate all is well are very hard to see in daylight and bright sun. If I cup my hands tightly around the unit, I can see the lights during the daytime. There is no problem seeing them at dusk or in darkness. Nevertheless, a good product and essential for safeguarding against RV park surges.
Pros: Easy installation, Peace of mind
Cons: Lights are hard to see in day light

The Surge Guard reveals errors in wiring without having to take out my test meters. It is secure and the built in handles are helpful in removing. Feel safer and able to know before I plug the house into the line.

I really like this. Reasonable price for good functionality. The only drawback is that you cannot see the green lights in the sunlight. I had to come back out at night the first time I used it to make sure that is was functioning. Now, I am satisfied that it will do what it is supposed to whether I can see the green when I plug it in during daylight or not. I am very pleased with this and glad I waited until this came along.

Resolution of detachment power cord issue

Save a one gallon plastic milk jug. Fill it with Quikcrete and water (including through the plastic handle). When you plug your detachable power cord into the surge suppressor (with locking hasp) and post at the camp ground, lock the gallon jug onto the power cord. If somebody wants the surge suppressor that bad, they'll have to either cut the 50 amp power cord, break the hasp or saw through the concrete handle,or carry all of it away together... and that's mighty heavy.

Blown Inverter

April 11, 2015
I purchased this product from Camping World, I used the surge protector and everything seemed to be just fine. The next time I tried to use the protector, it blew my inverter and I had to purchase a new inverter before I could go camping. The lights on the surge protector will not come on at all. This one appears to be wired wrong.
Pros: Protector did not protect

50 amp surge

April 05, 2016
Plug this in 50 amp plug, noticed smoke coming from my DVD player, I unplugged it. I then plugged it into the 30 amp plug. Came inside, smoke rolling from my microwave. Unplugged the surge. I had the manager from the campground come and check the power to the pedestal and it all checked out. Left the surge guard off and plugged my power cord in and everything worked. Of course my DVD player and microwave were dead and had to be replaced. All lights lit up. I am now afraid to use it now.
Pros: Easy installation, Protector did not protect
Cons: Lights are hard to see in day light, Did not last long before failing

We have only used it 2 times since purchase and it seems to be doing the job. Got the free lock box with it. The box fit fine over our plug and the protector. It takes a smaller diameter lock shank though.

This really is a good device. The very first time I installed this product, it showed me I have a bad circuit breaker in my home which almost damaged my Motorhome. Thank God I used this device first before I connected my motorhome. Well worth it!

Does not work as intended

0 out of 0 people found this review helpful.
October 01, 2015
I purchased this product in July 2014 when we purchased a new travel trailer. We keep our camper parked in a monthly lot rental and this unit is always plugged in. In September 2015, due to a lightning strike that affected several RV's up and down the row from ours, this unit did not work as we had understood it would. This unit did not stop permanent damage to our converter, microwave, and refrigerator due to a power surge. It appears that most customers, like us, trust that this product will work as intended, but until a fateful moment when the product is actually needed, you will never know for sure. I say this because all lights indicated that everything was working fine, but did not work as intended. Maybe mine was a defective product, or maybe these are just a way of providing a false sense of security. Either way, needless to say, I am very disappointed with this product.
Pros: Easy installation
Cons: Did not last long before failing, Product did not work when needed the most

I bought this product after the park I was in had a surge, that knocked out my converter. This surge protector is working. I feel safer having it. For the price, it works great. I chained it to my meter box.
