Easy to see LCD display uses plain, easy to understand language to keep you informed of status at a glance. Built-in intelligence lets these units reset automatically at power restoration. Each shuts off power in the event of an open neutral, low (under 102 volts) and high (over 132 volts) voltage or reverse polarity to protect your RV and its electrical components from damage and fire.

Great product. So many campgrounds have old electrical hook ups and open grounds. Gives you peace of mind that your rig is protected. I would rather have this guard burn out rather than thousands of dollars of electronics

We had one of the smaller, less expensive Surge Guards for several years. While working in Yellowstone National Park this summer there was a Surge during a power outage. It blew our old surge guard apart. No damage to our trailer. Several other workers had no surge guard and a lot of items in their rigs got fried. The most expensive items fried were converters. One individual had to spend over $3,000 to get their rig back up and running. We took the plunge and got this one. The next surge she just tripped. Others did not learn the lesson the first time.

Being in a low voltage park subject to power spikes and surges we decide to try this product. Not only does it protect our RV, but gives us a constant read out of voltage and amperage. No more brown outs and no more fear of damage to sensitive electronic fixtures and appliances.

This is a great product easy to use and such a inexpensive way to protect a expensive RV, it gives me such peace of mind to know my electrical worries are over, in campgrounds where electrical issues are such common place.

Product works as advertised but has a design deficiency. The cord that attaches to the camp power post is too short. The size of the guard with its lock shield lays against the power box at an angle causing the plug-in to shift after a bit and slip out causing a loss of power! I had to buy a short thirty dollar 30 male-30 female amp extension to correct the interference problem .

We needed surge protection where we permanently have our trailer as the electricity has not been updated in about 40 years. The surge protector does keep accurate measurements of the voltage coming through and will let me know how many amps are being used at any given time.

Being full timers now living for a while in southern Florida we have a number of electrical storms and were worried about a lightning strike taking out our electrical system. We took a shot on this product. It is easy to install and if your electric service has a cover with provision for a lock, it seems fairly secure. Otherwise, it is subject to theft. We bought the locking cover that is advertised with it but that leaves much to be desired. However, as with any insurance policy, you only need it when you need it and it is nice to know it is there.

I got one when I got my new motor home. Went on a trip and at the 4th camp ground I stopped at, every site I was moved to showed a reverse polarity I got my money back for the site and went on down the road to another camp ground and this time everything check out ok. I just wonder how many people don't consider the cost to their RV if it not protected.

I have used my Surge Guard w/o LCD display for over three years now. I wouldn't hook up to a power pedistal without it. I have had it kick out several times due to low voltage saving my air conditioner compressor from possible burnout. I have experienced many thunder storms and believe this silent sentinal may have absorbed spikes that I didn't even know were there on line. On the minus side, I find the cord length between the pedistal plug and the device body too short to allow the cover of power pedistals to close completely. It has a tendency to hum rather loudly at times and that can be anoying if the pedistal is right under the bedroom window. The size of the device itself is quite large and must be manuvered through the electric power cord storage compartment door. Dispite these minor shortcomings, I wouldn't hookup without it!

I bought mine in 2011 and as such it does not have the digital read out. I have used it every time I camp. To date that is approximately 30 times. I am not aware of any issues at any of the camp grounds I have stayed at and so must assume that the unit has been working properly. Living in a rural area as I do I am very aware of power issues, brown outs, spikes etc. Knowing that these issues would eventually surface at some point in rv'ing I purchased the unit to give me an added level of safety where power is concerned. The only negative I have and thus the 4 stars is the placement / configuration of the cord used to plug into the campground electrical is sometimes to short requiring that the unit be angled or turned in order to plug in properly. This is as much a function of the design installation of the campgounds pedestal as anything but is something the designers should have taken in to account.

This is easy to use as advertised. It does take a couple of minutes after plugging it in for it to evaluate the circuit before it provides power to the RV. We have so far not encountered a bad power supply or any surges to our knowledge, so its performance in that respect remains to be seen.

We bought this for our 5th wheel after reading about power problems others had at campgrounds. We've used it at six various public and private campgrounds in the last two weeks. After two severe thunderstorms we've have had no problems yet. It works great so far, time will tell. The digital readout tells you at a glance the input voltage and amperage usage. The only downside is the price but we felt it was cheap insurance for protecting our appliances and inside electronics. Due to theft concerns ($300 cost) we were planning on buying the locking adapter for it but after looking it over and reading the reviews we felt it would be a waste of money. It's made out of plastic and doesn't appear to be strong enough to withstand tampering. We wish someone would come up with a metal one. We did find at a few campgrounds you can lock the cover of the service box with a padlock so that's what we do whenever we can.

This 30 amp surge protector has features I love. It will shut down the power to your RV when the voltage gets low and will also shut down the system if the voltage gets to high. The readout on the unit tells you your voltage and other information. It also shuts down for an open ground or wrong polarity. I have a friend that lost their TV and VCR because a high voltage wire on the powerline pole broke and touched the lower voltage lines That feed the houses. Several in the neighborhod lost appliances from a car that had hit a power pole. There is a greater risk for a voltage surge and low voltage in a RV park than in a house. I am very pleased with the unit in every way. Another companion unit is the Surge Guard Voltage Regulator which will step up or reduce the voltage as needed. If your surge protector shuts your RV's power down and the voltage is out of range you need this Voltage Regulator to use the power without moving to a different site. Number 1 You need good surge protection Number 2 You need voltage regulation I recomend both of these units.

I found out the hard way. We were camped out in a RV park, when for some unknown reason the in coming electic power went to 220 volts. This knocked out the circuit board in the A/C unit, the microwave and the cheap surge guard I was using. I feel much better using this unit. I don't mine the size as long as it works.

All I can say is you will have peace of mind knowing you took precautionary measures before something bad goes wrong (electrical). After you hook it up to the power pole, you almost forget its there until you leave. I would rather spend a little more now than a whole lot later. The LCD display is clear and easy to read. Only reason for a 4 star is fairly large size and inability to secure it from being stolen. I have seen the lock sold by the same company, but it is made of plastic. I would like something alot more secure and durable before someone steals my surgeguard. Overall, I would recommend this to anyone who has a camper/rv/travel trailer.

The first time we used the surge guard we had the AC, TV, and refrigerator on. When we started the microwave the power went out, but it was the surge guard that kept from blowing a fuse in the RV.
