Heavy Duty and Easy to Use

As a replacement plug, both the male and female versions of this item are great. They are made of quality material and come with adequate instructions for use (I don't really need the instructions after working in a power plant for 30 years - but I reviewed what came with the item it was fine.)

50 Amp replacement plug

This replacement plug took about 20 minutes to remove and install. The installation was very similar to other heavy-duty plugs used for ranges and welders. The wires to the previous plug fit exactly into the new plug with no additional trimming. All of the strands fit easily into the new blade clamps. After the blades were seated, the cover held them firmly. It is much easier to install and remove from the outlet and is working very well in the home receptacle. I anticipate no problems in campground pedestals.

Difficult Install

Overall the unit works. The problem is that the internal wire connectors are almost impossible to tighten due to the screws being blocked by the other connectors. They are phillips /standard combo screws and would be much more manageable if they were hex as well. The weight of the completed unit is too light and has no substance. I filled mine on both halves with electricians putty (duct putty or monkey putty) a non conductive putty for sealing wire penetrations. This added significant weight to the plug and made it feel like a more like the original solid core rubber plug. This unfortunately this was the only option for my repair since I have a retractable 50 amp cord and did not want to remove the entire motor and spool to add a completely new wire.
