What are tow bar mounting brackets? Why do you need one?
Mounting brackets (a.k.a. ‘baseplates’) provide an attachment point for the tow bar.
Every mounting bracket is custom-made to fit a specific vehicle or range of vehicles. They consist of two main parts: the part you can see (the removable 'front arms') and the part you can't (the steel braces attached to the frame).
For most vehicles manufactured in 2013 and later, at least two different styles are offered:
The Direct-Connect style allows you to connect your tow bar directly to the mounting bracket. This is the easiest system to connect and disconnect. If you're using a motorhome-mounted tow bar, this is the bracket you should choose.
The Crossbar style allows you to use Roadmaster's utility mounting platform (the crossbar). This style accommodates accessories like the Guardian or Tow Defender rock shields, and the Stowaway. If you have a Sterling All-Terrain tow bar, or a vehicle-mounted tow bar, you'll need this style of bracket.
How are they attached?
Roadmaster tow bar mounting brackets are integrated into the frame and undercarriage of the vehicle, connecting to existing holes and fasteners wherever possible, for a quick, easy installation by your local professional. (Although Roadmaster recommends a professional installation, many 'shade tree mechanics' have proven to be more than up to the task. It depends on your aptitude and the level of confidence you have in your mechanical abilities.)
What will they look like on my car?
Once they're installed, the only part of the mounting bracket you'll see are the 'front arms,' and only when you're towing.
What makes Roadmaster brackets superior?
A better design — our brackets are integrated into the frame and undercarriage of the vehicle, connecting to existing holes and fasteners wherever possible, for a quick, easy installation by your local professional.
Easier installation — our brackets are 30 percent quicker to install, on average, than other brands — there are fewer components to unbolt or remove and fewer holes to drill.
Computer-tested — every bracket design is subjected to computer-simulated “Finite Element Analysis” (FEA) to ensure structural integrity and maximum strength.
Custom fit — every mounting bracket is custom-made to fit a specific vehicle or range of vehicles.
Roadmaster has the bracket for your car — we have more than 1,200 different brackets available (far more than any other company) — which fit nearly every vehicle made during the last 25 years.
Baked-on finish — every bracket is powder coated. In this process, charged particles of pigment are baked into the surface of the bracket. They fuse to the metal to form a lustrous, uniform and extremely durable finish.
We have Roadmaster part# 4431-1A listed as SKU#57808.
