It is still very difficult to locate the correct satellite, even with the Compass and the black box you install on the cable between the antenna and the receiver. It usually takes us about an hour or more to finally get it right.

I purchased it with the MP1 Satellite Dish and a satellite finder. The compass does not seem to be worth the $ paid for it. The compass on the MP1 works far better. This compass does not always point to true north. It's like the needle sticks. Also, do not set it very close to any metal. That will throw it off. I align it with the MP1 compass and just use it to set the azimuth.

I have the MP1 sat dish. The compass is just too small read for me and locations makes it harder to see. Bought this and have no problems using it.

Cheap Compass-Right Direction!

My wife and I had been struggling to find a lock on the satellite as I used the sun to determine a rough direction-then sometimes hours later, the satellite worked; unfortunately about the time I was ready to sleep. I tried for about 1/2 hour without the compass before my ultimate surrender. I then bought this compass. With this fairly well built compass, my wife literally hit the satellite within a second. I could not believe it. It was all downhill from there. The compass may not be top quality but for the price, it does do the job of finding the correct direction, without ANY guessing and has a lanyard so you can hang it and find it for the next set-up. I afraid the rest is up to you though (elevation, pitch etc). Sometimes this was easy and other times it was perfectly impossible. Finding the satellite within minutes in the 110-degree heat of Stockton/Lodi was priceless.
