The existing pump in my travel trailer was noisy, cycled constantly and had unenven pressure. I installed the Shurflo Accumulato...r Tank, along with the Pump Silencing Kit from Camping World. WOW, what a impressive improvement. 45 minutes start to finish and it took no additional parts to install. The noise is a mere fraction of the original installation and it has home-like consistent pressure. The cost is far less than the new variable speed pumps with the same results.
I got this along with the Shurflo Whisper King pump. Do both of them. It's worth it. If the ambient noise level inside and outs...ide my 5th wheel is absolutely silent, then I can hear the pump. Aside from that very rare occurrence, I can't hear it at all, which is most of the time. The worst part of the install was having to cut the existing rigid 1/2 inch blue pvc pipe and adapt a piece of the 1/2 inch clear reinforced flexible tubing to it. I needed to do this only one end. I used the existing fitting attached to the OEM Shurflo pump I was replacing on the other end. After a couple of iterations of different fittings, I ended up just putting the flexible tubing over the pvc by heating the flexible with a propane torch and jamming it over the pvc. I put a hose clamp on and it works perfectly with no leaks. Other than the flexible tubing and hose clamp, everything else came with the pump and accumulator tank. Make sure you don't loose the washers that go with the tank. I misplaced them and had leaks the first time through. Then I found them later and that took care of it. As a full-timer, this solved one thorny problem I've been dealing with for 4 years. In freezing weather I had always wrapped a water hose with heat tape and insulation. Now, I can just run off the pump and forget about all that trouble. I can go on and on about what a pain that was. Save yourself the headache and just get this combination.
I converted to the accumulator tank and a variable flow pump. Installation was easy and straight foreward. Only problem was a dama...ged fitting on the pump due to very poor packing by Camping World, but I robbed one off my old pump to get going. Now there is no pumping noise outside the RV if the compartment door is closed, or in the kitchen area, and it is VERY quiet in the bathroom/bedroom area. The air pressure is easy to fine tune with any air source and a tire guage. Compared to the former "flush toilet in middle of night and wake everybody up", this is a dream.
This little gem is a real dandy! I have a 23' travel trailer and three kids. My pump was working overtime, so I ordered this tan...k online....it arrived in the afternoon after we left Cincinnati for Colorado. So, I was a little disappointed......until I remembered that there was a Camping World in Denver. So, we stopped, I purchased this little beauty and installed it in less than 15 minutes, with the included fittings. It has eliminated the rapid cycling of our pump, and has really made the flow like home. We dry-camped for two weeks, and this item made all the difference. If you get a chance, visit a Camping World store and get one!
Camping World is the best!
One Warning: The flow is so like home, that you use more water than previously. Watch out!
My pump moving and tank installation took a little time because of my motorhome's setup. The tank actually came with everything it... needed for installation. Pump really runs a lot less, under 60% for full flow. Hand washing at low flow is completed without any pump sometimes. If you happen to own a large RV and have the room, the larger tank would probably be better. Just remember when doing plumbing work to open a fauchet to release the pressure since the tank holds enough water to make a nice sized mess.
Simple to install. I needed to pick up some fittings at the local hardware store. Pump runs at least 50% quieter with a very co...nsistent and smooth water flow. Pump comes on much less than before tank installation. Excellent investment.
I started to install the accumulator tank early in the day, just incase there might be trouble. Glad I did. The fittings included ...were a little undersized. I started with the male/female connection between the pump and the tank, used plenty of teflon tape and tightened as needed. After completeing the installation, the connection leaked. I had to take it apart and in making it tighter broke the pipe on "out " side of the pump. Lucky for me I had a back-up pump on hand. I went to the local plumbing shop, got fittings and put a piece of hose between them. After I was done I checked to what the problem was and found that the male/female fitting bottomed out on the inside of the tank making it impossible to tighten. Other than those problems the tank works fine. I quieted down the system very well and no more surges.
Does the basic job that an accumulator tank should: it smooths out the on-again-off-again fluctuations in water pressure. Don't ...use the rigid fitting they thoughtfully provide to hook up to your water pump, though, unless you want to join me on the adventure of repairing the pump after you snap the outlet neck off.
I can't fault the product it does what I wanted, removing the surging and giving a little reserve water without turning on the pum...p. Can't say it made the pump less noisy, but I didn't expect it to.
Would have been nice to have include more fittings. I needed to go from the 1/2" pipe to 3/8" barbed fittings and went to 4 places before finding what I could make work and it was still with an extra adapter. Leaks were a problem with the plastic fittings till a neighbor (retired chemist) told me to seal all the threads with silicon (RTV) sealer before assembling. I use automotive gasket silicon. I let it set over night and it now works with zero leaks.
Installed with no problems. The new male fittings allow for a direct
hookup to the outlet of an existing standard pump, which m...akes for a
quick install. All parts included, no extra fittings or hoses are needed,
except for custom installations or limited space on the outlet side of
pump. Still need to fill the water tank to see how it smoothes out the
flow. Says in directions to make sure pressure of accumulator is
equalized to activation of water pressure switch for best results, and
will do that this weekend.
I put one in due to the shower when running would raddel your real
teeth out , so I remember some review about insulate the pipe... as well
and doing both my teeth are still in and I can shower qt 12:00 at night
if wanting with out ranger at my door. Yes I did get a good steady
presure then before but I bought it for the noise as well.
this will be the best $35 ever spent on your trailer

After wrapping the plastic pipes with foam pipe insulation, installing insulation between the pump and floor, and insulating the a...rea where the pump is located, I installed a Shurflo Accumulator Tank. My system is now very quiet!! This accumulator does everything it advertises......system is quiet and the pump now runs only half the time. Installation was very simple. The tank came with a fitting that mates the tank right to the pump. Nice design.
After changing out my water pump, I was having issues with the water cutting out at low
pressure but fine when I opened the fauc...et up. A friend recommended this and it solved
my problems. Connecting it was pretty easy, I just had to figure out the best fit for my water
bay, but I am grateful I purchase it and did the work.
After receiving my unit I noticed it did not come with any couplings. It
stated it on the box that it was included. However once... I did get it
installed I did notice that the pump wasn't working as hard to keep the
flow of water constant.
i had to redesign my water system to alleviate noise and water volume problems ( especially at night using the head) and to make i...t more user friendly. it was a pain to fill and maintain my system thruout the seasons as designed by the factory. i mention this only because i spent hours talking to tech support at both shurflo and flojet to get suggestions for a top notch noise free system. I decided on a pex water tubing system with push to connect fittings by seatech and flair-it to get away from those leaking and unpredictable ring crimp pipes that were installed at the factory. This allowed the elimination of almost all elbows as the system uses long sweep supports to make all corners ( big sound reduction from this part of the design) Check these out if youve never seen or heard about them. It was cut, plug in and play, and it makes on the road repairs a snap!
I then set about installing the pump and accumulator tank. I used brass 1/2 nipples from H D to make all pump connections. The ones i used had a a hex shoulder to so i could install the parts with a crescent wrench. thus feeling when things were snug without stripping the parts. I used teflon tape at all connections. I also used 30 inch long flex braided steel water supply lines at all connections. I coiled them and loosely bound them with nylon ties to eliminate pump noise (recomended ) i then tried out the system. WOW. I could run the galley sink and flush the toilet at the same time, and didnt here a peep from the pump. (THIS IS AN OLD SHURFLO 2088 PUMP- CIRCA 1993) I dont know how much the pump was helped by the tank but i now use water without any hammering at all. I dont hear the pump run at all. Also, it is important to install this tank between the pump and the first fixture in the system with a thru connection at least 22 inches from the pump
NOW I ONLY HAVE TO TURN ONE 3 way valve at my water access door for all system functions.
I had to change my pump in my pop up camper, when I did it hammered badly. The Parts dept at Camping World helped me with this pro...blem. Using the Surflo Accumulator tank (2290) ended all my
problems. The tank was easy to install, the small size made it fit easily in my pop up camper. the threaded ends hooked right up to my fittings. I also added to my new pump (2088-422-444) a Surflo in line
strainer (255-313) before the pump. ended all my water problems. Thank you Camping world Churchville NY.
I have an undersink water filter, and the water pump had to work very hard to force water through it, with a lot of battery drain.... Added this accumulator and it solved the probem, good water flow, low battery drain.
The pump in our travel trailer rattled the pipes badly as it cycled rapidly on and off any time water was running. I bought this
accumulator and the two hoses in their "pump silencing kit". I unscrewed the fiting from the outlet of the pump and screwed on one of the short hoses to the pump, the other end to the accumulator inlet,
then from the accumulator outlet the other short hose connects back to the trailer piping with the included nipple fitting. The whole job took less than 5 minutes. I just laid the accumulator inside the compartment beside the pump. The pump now runs and fills the accumulator and is very quiet. We can run about 8 ounces of water before the pump starts. I just bought a second accumulator to install
so the pump will start even less often and pump longer when it runs. The combination of the accumulator and the pump silencing hoses stops the short cycling and you can hardly hear the pump running.
Works well, all the pulsating in the water is gone. According to the directions a 45 PSI
pump, has a flow of 30 PSI, so I confir...med the pre charge is at 30 PSI (I am using a
SHURflo 45 PSI/3.1 BAR pump). I supplied two screws into the floor, and a new 8
dollar plumbing extension to finish the job. The item came with one adapter to hook
up the tank to the pump. If your rig is like mine the manufacture didn't waste any
material for future upgrades, so that is why I had to buy an extension to bring the water
back to where the pump was running into originally. Item work as described. That is
why I give it five stars.
I have had a problem with water pressure and pulsating water since I owned my Fleetwood Expedition. I read about the tank and foun...d it easy to install and it solved both of my water problems. Good product and very reasonable.
I installed the Shurflo Accumulator Tank in our Coleman Bayside elite tent trailer. As I
wanted it to be in the upright positio...n and the air valve easy accessible I had to make some modification in the installation. Otherwise it is an easy installation. Once the job was done and ready for a trial run I was amazed how quiet and less frequent the Shurflo Water Pump now runs. Yes I can recommend this accumulator.
Adding the tank to the system has eliminated the pulsing of the water pump. I can turn the
water on to a slow stream and the pum...p will turn on and run for several seconds then turn
off and the water will keep flowing for a while, no short pulses.
I use a shurflow rv pump at the cottage. It was
cycling on and off very quickly and hammering
hard. I bought this to eliminate... both problems and I
have not had any issues since installed. It is very
easy to install. Inflow on the pump and I used a pex
adapter on the outflow to the cottage. Great product
and exactly what I needed to eliminate the noise.
The primary product image we have loaded is for an older 181-203 model tank that does have 1/2 NPT Female ports. But, what is sold is model# 182-200 that has Male 1/2"-14 NPSM ports on each side. The second product image loaded of the manufacturer box is correct representation of the accumulator tank. You can also refer to the product manual here.

What fittings are included? None are shown or indicated in the description.
No, Item# 2290 is an accumulator tank for a water pump, not an actual pump. Water pumps are universal, you will need to compare fittings and specs of a replacement unit to what is currently installed to make an informed purchase.
