How to Apply
Make sure the area you are applying your Tailgate Skin to is completely clean, dry and free from dirt or residue that will keep it from adhering. You should ideally wash your car before applying your Tailgate Skin.
The ideal surface for your tailgate skin is smooth, flat and clean. Choose an area on your vehicle free of ridges, bumps or sharp angels. Wash and rinse the area thoroughly. (Ideally Tailgate skins should be applied to a freshly washed car). Place the tailgate skin onto the surface of the car and remove any bubbles by using the provided squeegee to smooth out the tailgate skin, pressing from the center out.
NOTE: Tailgate packs should not be applied to a vehicle while too hot due to exposure to the sun, or too cold for exposure to sub-zero temperatures. Temperature extremes will cause bubbling.
Pick a starting point on your Tailgate Skin on the edge.
Gradually peel back the backing paper exposing the adhesive side of the Tailgate skin. Do this slowly and take your time. As you apply the Tailgate Skin to your vehicle, firmly press down, pushing any air bubbles out from under the Tailgate Skin. To make this easier, you can use a credit card or other plastic card to help apply more even pressure. Be careful not to scratch your Tailgate Skin.
How do I remove bubbles in my Tailgate Skin?
Most small creases and bubbles will disappear over time, but if the creases or bubbles are large you may slowly peel the Tailgate Skin back up and carefully reapply. Keep repeating until the Tailgate Skin is in its proper place and is smooth. In some cases, poking the bubble gently with a sharp pin will allow the air to escape. This should only be attempted as a last resort.
IMPORTANT: Be careful not to lift the Tailgate Skin too quickly or you may stretch or tear the Tailgate Skin.
Are the Tailgate Skins easy to remove?
Yes, it is very easy to remove the Tailgate Skin, should you choose to do so. Once removed, however, the Tailgate Skin may not adhere quite as well as the first time.
