sensor mounting - September 10, 2008

I have a similar unit in my fifth wheel trailer. I mounted the sensor inside the propane compartment at bottom of the compartment where there is a lip. It has been there for three years now. It is out the wind, sun and rain. It is mounted with the stick on tape that came wirh it.

Not for RV - December 06, 2007

Since it's found in an RV catalogue I thought it was suitable for my Motorhome. I haven't used it for that purpose because I believe that it won't work for the following reasons: First, the sensor/sender unit must be kept out of the direct sun, second, the sensor/sender unit must be protected from rain and snow and, third, while made out of plastic, the sensor/sender unit is bulky and would eventually break from its plastic base due to the vibration of travel. I am using it at home where the sensor/sender is mounted under the eave of my house. I modified the mounting of the base by enlarging the screw holes and using larger and shorter hex head lag screws so that I could tighten them with a wrench since there wasn't enough clearance in the confined space to use a screwdriver. It works well for home use. I still haven't found anything for my motorhome.
