I have had my P3 for about four years now. I have used it on a 13 foot tent trailer and a 18 foot hybrid. The breaking is seamless and immediate great peace of mind when the individual hits the breaks in front of you. Easy to use, install , and make changes to the
settings. Definitely recommend this brake controller.
We had this installed by our mechanic. He had it installed within 5 minutes. This is one of the easiest to use and adjust even on the fly!! This even tell's you when the trailer isn't hooked up right .
My old brake controller stoped working so I bought a tekonsha p3. I installed it myself
and found it very easy.Once installed and powered up, the controller told me the trailer
was not hooked up. Using the built in diagnostics I was able to easily trace the
problem to the broken wire in the truck. Replacing the wire was easy and I was back on
the road. If I went to a repair shop it would have cost me alot more than the price of the
controller. This unit also stops very smooth. This is the controller that you want,do not
waste your money on lesser products
I used this in my 1999 Ford F250, I could easily change loads from 1500 lbs to 11,000
lbs, by just using the menu on this brake controller. I would and did recommend this to all my froends with trailers.
Will the plug and play cable work on a 2015 ColoradoZ71?
by JimMarch 02, 2016
At this time, Tekonsha does not list a plug and play brake control harness for a 2015 Chevy Colorado. However, the 3016-P harness will work on 2015-2016 year model Silverado 1500/2500/3500 as well as Tahoe, Suburban, Escalade, Yukon, and Sierra 1500/2500/3500 vehicles.

Is this the controller that applies brakes gradually without the trailer brakes grabbing first?
by WestAugust 24, 2015
This is a proportional brake controller, which from your description is the type of controller you are looking for. "Proportional based controls offer a smooth braking response to almost any stop. Through the use of a sensing device, the brake control can determine the tow vehicle's rate of deceleration and then apply the trailer brakes to match." - Tekonsha

I need a trailer brake controller for a 2014 Chevy Silverado. Is this the proper brake control?
by MargieJune 04, 2015
The brake controller is universal including the one plug wiring pigtail it comes with. Two plug wiring harnesses are vehicle specific; one side plugs in to the brake controller the other directly into your vehicle with no wiring splicing.
