    Seal provided doesn't work

For a premium product it doesn't hold up to claims. It leaks at the bay connection point as the clamps do not apply enough pressure. In short, better choices are out there.

    Very Good Sewer Hose System

I would give it 5 stars but you cannot get replacement o-rings for the fittings, or the connection fittings themselves. One of my o-rings got crimped somehow and it took a call to Thetford to find out they do not have replacement o-rings or replacement fittings available to buy anywhere. They did however send me the entire fitting. I find the connections far far easier then the old fashioned twist ones. I have had it for about two years and have had no leaks and the hose really does snap back.

    Hard to connect but fixable

The rubber washer is to thick and the Sure-Lock system is almost impossible to close. It will leak if not done completely right. I fixed the issue by taking out the washer and putting an O-ring in the small grove on end of hose. Works perfect know. It is something the factory should be doing. Everything else is great and 5 star

Leaked First Time - User Error

Nothing funny about a leaking sewer hose. First use it leaked but it was my fault. You really have to get the metal surelocks properly aligned and clamped down. I thought I had it right but didn't and paid the price for which I am perhaps unfairly knocking off 1 star. Since then it has not leaked a drop, the hose seems indestructible, and the other parts are equally well made. Pricey for sure - and the jury is out as to how long it will last, but it's certainly a candiate for lifetime warranty at this point. I would not say that about any other sewer house I have ever owned and there have been a several.

Has leaked once in awhile but generally just cleaning the seals fixes the problem. I like the flexibility of the hose so it springs back if crushed. My hands are not strong and I find I can deal with this much more easily than a standard bayonet attachment.

    Great Sewer Hose System!

After years of using the 'el cheapo' hoses and fittings, this hose system is a nice change. Like any type of cam lock hose fitting, the male end must be snug inside the opposing fitting before attempting to lock the levers down. After several uses of this hose system, I have not had one drop leak out yet and judging from the construction of the componets I think that it will last for years to come.

    Great System

This is a follow up a previous review. So far the only problem I've encountered with this system is with the gasket at the dump valve end. It's not well made and if you are not careful it will compress so bad there is no way to stop the leak. The rest of the system is living up perfect to it's hype. As another camper said, you must make sure when making the connections they are square and well seated, otherwise it will leak. Once I got used to it, no leaks at all. In the end, I'd said it's better suited to extended stays rather than constantly hooking and unhooking the system. The hose material has save me a lot of expense in that I was constantly buying new hoses for one reason or another. It would also be nice if they offered a 10 foot hose as 15' is too long in many instances.

    Best solution I've found

After going through 2 new hoses I decided to buy this system. It has lived up to everything as advertised. I've not had a single leaking problem and it's very easy manipulate. The only complaint is the connections are very touchy to get solid or you get a huge leak. But, once fitted properly the whole unit has been leak free. I'll use nothing but this system from now on or until Thetford comes out with something better.

I had a problem when I first used the SmartDrain system. After several tries I found the problem. ME! When making connections, make sure they are square. If not they will leak. I also had a problem with the hose expanding and wandering. This was corrected with the purchase of the Slunky Sewer Hose Support. I have been using this system for almost a year and haven't had any problems with it.

Sewer hose that doesn't leak please?

0 out of 0 people found this review helpful.

I think I may have bought every brand of sewer hose. I've never had one that doesn't leak somewhere or have some kind of connection problem. This one is no exception. I usually have to duct tape them or use RTV silicone adhesive around the fittings to stop leaks. I've used various solutions to keep it from popping off the sewer pipe, from sandbags to bungee cords and tent stakes. I've also used these methods to keep it from snaking off the sewer hose support. While this one looks like it solves a lot of these problems, it doesn't solve them all. It still leaks. The connection to the sewer pipe is not tight enough to prevent it from popping off. I'd recommend the Rhino Flex over this one, after you seal it with silicone adhesive. It didn't leak at all or pop off the sewer pipe. It deteriorated in about 6 months from what I think is sun rot. We're full timers, so it stays hooked up for months at a time. This one looks a little tougher, but I just got it recently, so we'll see about that. Next time I need a hose, I'm going to try the macerator pump. If that doesn't work, then I give up. Talk about planned obsolescense.

This hose is very easy to use and to put away in your bumper. No tools needed like other hoses I had in the past.
