    Seeing from behind

Being new to the RV world. I could not tell who or what was behind me in my blind spot. I am happy to say I can now see who is behind me and who is passing me in my blind spot right or left side.. Not to mention when backing up, I can now see what's happening with or without my helper. My only grip is that a lens shade, to reduce glare would be helpful.

    Voyager Wireless Backup System

Installation was fairly easy, although I did have to consult an RV service center to determine which wires to the trailer lights were positive and which ones negative. Once installed, the system worked as promised, providing a clear image at the back of the trailer and clear sound from my wife giving me directions. The mounting system for the monitor is very flexible as to orientation, facilitating easy placement on my windshield and, I imagine, on any windshield out there. I still need to get used to seeing what's behind the trailer as a new advantage, but that is simply a matter of training myself to look in the monitor the same way as a rear view mirror. Overall, I think the product is excellent and seamless to operate.

    Just what I needed

My wife and I purchased this unit this afternoon and went straight to our 36 foot travel trailer and installed it. I needed something to show me the blind side of the RV when I backed up and I needed a wireless system since this was a travel trailer. I really only need to use it when backing up and the easy installation and removal of the monitor in my truck is great. The ability to hear what a person is saying while they help guide you back is a big plus. I installed the camera on the back, center, top of my RV. I have it set up so I can easily see both corners of my trailer's bumper and at least 20 feet behind it. The camera requires a 12 volt power supply which I got from one of the running lights at the top of the trailer. There are three lights across the top and they are all daisy-chained together. It was easy to tie into this and the hardware they furnish enables you to do a really professional looking job. The first time I put power to the units, after 8 seconds like the directions said there was my picture. This is a great looking system and easy to insatll if you have any talent for do-it-yourself projects. This took my wife and I about an hour to install with no special tool requirements. This unit is expensive, but if I avoid bumping my trailer into things and damaging it, I suspect it will pay for itself. The wireless unit is about an extra $150 versus the hard wired unit that you can use on a motor home, but with a 5th wheel or travel trailer - the wireless is the way to go. I imagine there will be something bigger, better and cheaper in a couple of years as technology grows, but for now I am happy and it is just what I needed.

does it's job, when it works

For $600, quality is not what you would expect. Monitor selector buttons (volume, power, brightness, etc...) are cheap/cheesy. For these modern times and the retail price, the monitor should be touch screen anyway! I have trouble getting the unit to turn on. I have to start touching the power button about 15 minutes before our destination to try to get the monitor to turn on...sometimes it won't turn on at all and I have to back-up blind. When it does work, the monitor has a very 80's p.c. look, like an apple macintosh! The screen freezes sometimes too...which may have to do with lack of reception from the camera, as the distance from my monitor to camera is 50ft. The speaker on the camera is nice, as you can hear your spotter give directions while backing-up. FYI-My Voyager came installed OEM and the monitor is permanently mounted on the overhead console. The monitor looks outdated and out of place in my modern RV. Needless to say, I would not have purchased this unit outright!

I have looked at these for some time but did not want to spend the money. We are now going to be doing some extensive traveling for awhile so I decided to buy one. The instructions that come with it are a little lacking I belive. Before the purchase I reviewed the installation process on U=Tube videos I found. It reallyl helped. The installation went very well and only took about an hour. The only down side is that when I am using it while driving my signal goes from low to high. I expected it to stay the same. This effects the picture you get somewhat. It would also be nice to have a mute button for the audio while going down the road. It' s a good unit and I would recommend it.

Before a permanent mount, I used a jump box to power it and placed it in the center (vertically and horizontally) of the rear of my 38 foot camper. Placed the screen on the transmission hump and could move over 90 feet before the picture disappeared. Viewing angle (to me) is perfect. Pointing it down to pick up an object about two feet from rear of trailer still showed over 30 feet to the rear and side of trailer. It is what I have been looking for for years.

    A Must for Any RV

This is a great product. Only problem is resolution, wish it were higher. Installed on my 25 ft travel trailer. At first was concerned about resolution so after I installed it, I pulled my truck, with monitor, on the other side of my house (about 300 ft away) and still had a great picture. Drove further, in both directions (front of trailer and behind trailer) and didn't lose reception until about 1 tenth of a mile. My first trip with it was about 140 miles and had a clear picture all the way. I had installed a Peak system first and wish I hadn't spent the money. I would recommend this system to anybody.
