I put Teflon tape on the drain plug and screwed it into the water heater drain hole . But when I open the cockpit to drain the water heater it still hits the gas line when opened completely. I tried to screw the plug into the water heater a little more but afraid to strip something. The drain plug could have been designed a little shorter.

I bought one of these for my old camper before I sold it. I bought a different brand for new camper and when I opened the valve it wouldn't drain. Struggled with it for the rest of the season, threw it away, and bought another one of these. Great product that doesn't leak.
