    Winegard Portable Satellite Antenna

I just purchased and received one of Winegard's portable satellite antenna the GM-1518. I have tried the new system and am extremely happy with the results on the one camping trip so far. I look forward to future camping trips and the use of the satellite antenna. It worked as described Plug and Go . I will say Winegard should offer a much longer power cable than the available 50 foot cord. Many Many campsites that my wife and I camp at are so covered with full bodied trees that 50 foot cables are inadequate to say the least - - and is never good to power any electrical device with extension cords in the elements. With all that said I think it is a GREAT antenna . I will definitely recommend this to all our camping friends.

Great product. Worked fine right out of the box as soon as it had a clear line of sight to the south to find the satellite. My only complaint is that the instructions before ordering are not clear on the need for a power source. If buying this product, make sure to also buy the Power 5.8amp AC to DC power converter. I bought mine not knowing it is required and I am glad I did. Without it, there is no other way to power the satellite antenna.

Not sure why other reviewers are surprised that it is not HD for Directtv. It states it in description. Anyway, so far have only tried it out at home to be sure it works. Had no problems. Did not even have to go through setup. Gave it 4 stars only because we haven't tried it on the road but I suspect we won't have any problems.

    NO HD WITH DIRECT TV

All in all it's a great unit. I had initially gotten dish network but I switched my house over to Direct TV from cable and it just made sense to only have one bill. Well, as I enjoyed Dish in HD, I was very disappointed to find out DirectTV's HD is incompatible with this unit. Looking around for a tripod manual unit to replace it.

We love our Winegard Carryout Satellite. Setup is easy and usually by the time I get back to the trailer after setting it up, it is downloading the program guide. We have used it in New Mexico, Colorado and Oklahoma and our home state of Texas with no problem. We transfer it back and forth between travel trailer and horse trailer for trips. Great product.

I am a full-time RV'er for the next couple of years, so I wanted an easy, reliable product. This satellite dish is awesome and very easy to set up and use. Once it finds the signal you can disconnect the power. I just wish I had realized it wasn't HD when I bought it. It comes ready to go for DirecTV which was a plus for me since I am already a DirecTV customer and had an extra receiver. Other than no HD, works great.

This is an excellent satellite antenna. It took a few minutes to find the satellite on initial startup but, had no problems finding it thereafter. It even worked without fail during some rain that we had on the trip.

WOW!! I live in Alberta Canada; I subscribe to Bell Express Vu. Just received item yesterday, scanned through the User Manual to get the instructions for Bell, I then removed the 'Dome'; changed settings to Bell as per the manual, put the Dome back on; installed the 'Carry Handle. This morning I thought I would try it out in my back yard, connecting it to a Bell Receiver & TV in my Sunroom. I am using a 110 - 12 volt converter, in no more than 5 or 6 minutes I had a perfect picture. I cannot believe how simple it was!! In fact in my opinion the picture is better than the one I get from my permanent installed dish. I also installed a 'jack' on my motorhome so that I can connect the GM 1518 direct to the receiver & TV, that way I do not have to use the pre-installed cable connection, which I believe has some electronic gizmo to enable cable to work, the manual in fact states the GM 1518 will not work if you use a cable connection. I am really delighted with this item & would not hesitate to recommend it to anybody living North of the Border. Thanks Winegard!!

We had just a little trouble getting this to work with our motor home. One of the local RV dealers told us what to do and now It works wonderful. I would say it works really better with the DC to Ac converter than off the battery. Don't know if the DC plug on the RV had enough power or not. When we had it hooked to the battery it would shut off sometime. And then you would have to start all over again. Have not had any trouble since we went and bought the DC to AC converter. Love this dish it is so nice to have satellite in the RV.

It would be nice if we could pick up transponder 103 which carrie the 560 chanels and up. They should punt in the manual the exact satellite setting required for Direct TV. once I figured that out we got most of the chanels.

We bought ours about two years ago when they first came out.initial set up was a little frustrating as we decided to go with Dish Month-to-Month, and it came pre-configured forDirect. I did do the set up at home prior to the first trip, and I think that's a good idea. Once configured, it's workedflawlessly throughout the SW US. The portability is great, as my friends with large coaches have fixed mounts and runinto obstructions. I just drag the the Carry Out... out, and set it where needed. it usually locks on in about 5 minutes or less. I did install a 12v outlet right under the fiver's coax input. I then shrink wrapped the power and coax cables together into a single except at either end. Works amazingly well and a better picture than cable at home. Use the Pv 211 receiver and monthly Dish Network service as we are mostly weekenders. Very economical. Note...do not set it on the roof over the bedroom..it tends to twitch adjusting itself all night..zzt...zzt..zzt...I just unplug at night when we need to put it up there. Nice to have TV on those rainy days!

Haven't had any problems with unit. Ijust set it on the ground, plug it in, and in a few minutes, I have a signal(unless there's trees or obstructions). Don't have to be very level. I have a tripod, but haven't had the need to use it yet. I used to have a portable manual unit(the one in the black plastic case). It was a big pain to set up and find a signal, and when I finally got a signal, it was very easy to lose it because the unit would move due to wind or anything that touched it. If I bump or move this unit, it just adjusts itself. I am very satisfied with this product.

    2 Receivers/TVs Setup

0 out of 0 people found this review helpful.
    February 16, 2013
[Also see John Miller CH Jefferies Review's] I initally setup my Winegard Carry Out thru a single coax cable that was connected to the MAIN connector on the Carryout then to the SATELLITE connector on the outside of my RV. I don't know how the signal was routed inside the RV but my assumption was that it went thru a splitter because there are two outlets in the RV...one feed to TV # 1 the second feed to TV#2. This configuration was unsatisfactory because TV #2 could only watch channels which are on the same satellite that TV #1 is tuned to, i.e. 110 OR 119 {maybe 129 also?}. It did not matter if TV#1 was on or not! I called Directv Technical Support for help. Not only did they not have a solution, they had no entry on their KNOWN PROBLEMS list!? I find this unusual because this issue is present on the REVIEWS list. I have also contacted them 2 or 3 times about this issue!! Their position appears to be that it is not a Directv issue because the signal is being routed thru a non Directv dish. SOLUTION - I connected separate coax cables to the MAIN & SECONDARY outlets on the Carry Out:: The MAIN coax is connected to the the SATELLITE connector on the RV then to TV#1 thru the splitter. The SECONDARY coax is routed directly to the 2nd receiver's SATELLITE-IN connector. This confriguration requires a coax from the second receiver to TV.#2 Although this solves the problem it creates another problem on how to route the 2nd coax into the RV to the 2nd receiver if you don't have a second individual-external connector or convenient opening. I had to route the coax thru an opened window. For a permanent solutionI I plan to mount a second connector on the RV for the second coax. So far, the temporary solution is working. I am now a Happy Camper, no thanks to Directv.

We are very satisfied with it with the exception of how easy it was to install. It is not as easy as they said it would be to install. It took a frustrating 4 hours and many conversations with Winegard and Dish to install it. After all the time on the phone with the various techs it was up and running. Hopefully, this initial installation and getting up and running was a one time only. When we move our motor home and set up again time will tell.

I love my Carryout ...however this year we will no longer be able to use it for Bell Service outside of Canada. The new satellite by Bell only covers Canada now and soon Shaw will be the same. Do not purchase if wanting your satellite outside of Canada...it isn't going to work. We need ours at home so we will still use it but leaving it at home from now on.

This is a real easy to set up Satelite. I bought the Winegard Carryout GM-1518 Automatic to use on our Fleetwood RV because I would always watch other campers trying to find a satelite signal with there unit on a tripod and moving it all around. I set it up in my yard and the first time out camping and it found the signal in two to three min. tops. So for I love it

We are from Australia and travelling around the US in a fifth wheel. We have nothing like this in Australia so it's very new to me. My brother in, law lent me a receiver, we attached the antenna cable, the power cable and within minutes we had satellite TV. This worked beyond my wildest dreams. Once the dish has locked on I remove the power cable and all is fine. For set up I just use the trailer ladder and put it on the roof, nice and easy.

Winegard Carryout Limitations for Dish receiver

0 out of 0 people found this review helpful.
    October 18, 2012
Yes, when I plug it in after proper configuration setup of receiver it accurately found satellites. But the limitations may come from the type of receiver you have. That advice came from a Dish techie who went thru Dish's rv school. We have VIP 612 DVR. The recording of shows gets flaky due to the nature of the circuitry of the dvr and how it looks at the satellite and the times of recording. Sometimes I would get red recording light but no recording or get a lost signal message, even though 2 shows were on same channel, one after the other. I have decided to use our regular turbo dish (I take forever to get it adequately aimed) when we are in one place for several months and will be using the carryout for our travels because it is so much faster (2 minutes after plugging it in) for setup in an overnight situation. My advice is to double check with Dish as to the compatibility of the Carryout with the receiver you have. Make sure you speak to their RV specialist dept.

I give the Winegard carryout GM-1518 a 3 stars, the time it takes to clear the receiver, from previous settings and then test again is very time consuming. If yours is mounted to the ladder or top of your camper better stray from any tree branches because it will block the signal. Of course bad weather knocks the signal .... I have used the regular HD satellite dish (Dish Network) and it takes less time to set up &; no real problem with tree branches, but WIND will carry it off. So far WIND hasn't any effect to my portable antenna. Cost comparison between a HD satellite dish and Winegards GM--1518 antenna, the HD satellite dish is a 1/4 the cost.

Just bought this before Labor Day weekend. I left a day earlier than my husband and took our RV to the campground with my granddaughters. We set up camp and the last thing I had to do was to set up our new Carryout. I had watched the video before ordering it, so I knew how to set it up. Took me 5 minutes to set up and within 10 minutes not only was my TV working, but I got every channel! This never happened with our manual one! So far, we are pretty impressed.

We purchased this for our Mobile Office and it works very well. It only takes a few minutes to set up. Once the cables are all plugged in it finds the sat. Then turn on the receiver and you're good to go. We are using it with DirecTV and we can record two channels at the same time if you run two coax lines. No High Def though. Would have been 5 Stars if it was compatible with HD.

I have not used this unit yet, but I was disappointed when I opened the box and realized in addition to the RG6 cable, a power cable (included) was required to make the unit operate. I purchased this item for simplicity. I will need to have a 12v receptacle installed in one of my outside storage compartments so the power cord can be used without having it hang out a window. Since my roof unit is a Winegard, I thought the satellite set up would also be the same. I will have to reprogram the satellite setup each time I switch from the roof dish to this dish. A little disappointed in the design, but I hope the unit works well when we fire it up. Three star rating because of the design.

Bought this unit for the dual purpose of using it at our cabin and travel trailer. I have manually attempted to aim a Dishnetwork antenna quite a few times at our cabin with no success due to heavy tree cover. I found the magnetic direction and obstruction distances on Dishpointer.com, placed the antenna in a marginal spot.Boom, I had everything, including HD. I then placed it in spots that I had manually tried before, it worked there too. I had my doubts, I am impressed.

This is a great product coupled with the 211K Dish receiver and tripod mounting. This is our first experience with satellite TV and we are very pleased. The Carryout antenna was easy to set up and to hook up. It has worked flawlessly from the get go. We travel about 8 months a year and this system allows us to use it the few months we are in our brick and mortor homebase. Reviewing the installation videos at DishformyRV.com was absolutely essential to setting up the system.

I don't understand John Meyer's review. I have Dish and receive 110, 119 & 129 satellites. The Carry Out has a main and secondary outlet. My Dish receiver is a VIP 612. When I connect two cables up to it, One on the main which is satlelite one and the other on the seconary. This way I can watch and record a program at the same time. I've had this unit for a couple of years. It always works great.

We have had our Winegard Carryout for several years now. This product is awesome. We can receive our Bell TV on it here in Canada and in the US! We get both east and west feed and have ours going in the Rio Grande Valley. The further you are south and west for us (we are in Ontario) the more difficult it is but so far we have never had a problem. We leave ours all plugged in at home and it works just fine. The best product for RVer's ever!! I do believe there is one somewhere that works for Shaw as well. Totally different one though. If you are on Bell you won't be sorry for your purchase.

Connects to only one satellite at a time.

This Carryout only allows you to connect to only one satellite at a time. I had to change from Dish Network to Direct Network in order to view different programs on different satellites. Dish has two satellites that you must connect to, while I can get most all my programming on one satellite from Direct and watch all channels on both of my recievers. I go to Texas for the winters and must still get the local channels over my air antenna since Direct has them on a different satellite; but all the rest of the channels are on the one satellites. If you are watching a program on satelllite 110 on Dish Network and then change to watch a program on satellite 119, your other receiver also changes to satellite 119 and thus you lose what you were watching on that receiver. I dropped Dish and went with Direct and no longer have this problem.

First thing you need to do is read all the directions twiceand then start putting it together LOL. Had t0 switch to Dish Network no problems. My only problem was with Dish Network they had problems getting my service changed over. After talking to 3 different people it went great. Reception was very good. It does make noise but that is normal . Just set in on the tripod and away it went. Like having the 50'power cord and cable.

Finished removing the old sat antenna from the RV roof, installed the ladder mount, ran the cables and in minutes was watching my favotite programs! A far cry from the old unit waiting to find the signal and having to get up hit the switch to change satellites and hope it would find the next satellite when changing channels. Now if I'm in the trees just move the unit not the RV! Great product.

Have the MPI manual, cannot wait for the automatic to arrive so really cannot review now but if it works as good as the manual one that will be great. Only reasoni am buying the automatic one is because i do not feel like setting up the manual one after a long days drive and being tired i just want to be able to put it out let it do its thing and watch TV. The manual one works great even in severe weather in Central Texas was watching TV in Trailer rain thunder and wind no loss of signal no B/S.Cannot wait for the new automatic one so i can check it out by the reviews i will love it on my next trip especially when only staying at the RV park for one night without having to go through the hassle of setting up the manual one.

I also Found a Dish Tailgater By Dish Network it's another Portable Satellite Dish That Let's You Watch TV Wherever You Go and it Finds The SatelliteAutomatically. the Receivers You Can Only Use On it is The VIP 211 and The VIP 211K No Dual Receivers Can Be used With It Only The VIP 211 and The VIP 211K. Even though DVRs are Not Compatabale With The Portable Dish Tailgater It Would Still Be a Very Good Portable Satellite Dish I Could Have Two Of Them Since It's Smaller oThanThe Winegard Satllighte Dish. IF Camping World Started selling The Portable Dish Tailgater From Dish Network I Would Be Looking at It too.

We bought this portable antenna to use tailgating. We have a Winegard in-motion unit on our RV and have been very happy for four years. The carryout is great when we have our SUV or want to add another TV for sports etc. Very simple to use after a quick set-up. If you are familiar with DISH and do a Check Switch after you change your location the antenna locks on quickly. Plugs into cigarette lighter but get the 12v/110 converter for plugging into a generator or outlet for flexibility. We us the DISH 211HD receiver from Camping World also. They make a great pair with no issues. Since we bought our Carryout a number of tailgaters around us have also purchased this antenna because you can put on top of your car where it can't get bumped into and it is completely automatic so away with tripods, satellite finders, cussing and yelling at DISH. Lowered my blood pressure.

Ordered dish for my house and added the 211 rcvr along with others in house and only costs extra 7 mo and just keep it in the rv.

Bought this system a few months ago and am 100% pleased. Works great with Directv and the setup is so simple. Now I spend a few minutes , two at the most setting it up and getting it going. Can be watching TV in as little as five minutes. The only problem is that using it with Directv is that you can't get HD as you can with dish. Still a great item for the investment. Great time saver, frustration easier, and simple to use.

We have used our Carryout for a year. On our trip to Alaska, we ran out of coverage as we went north of the border from Montana but the coverage came back as we returned months later as we approached Washington State (no fault of the dish). Just set it out and it finds the Dish Satellites and the fun begins. We are using it at a beach house in South Texas as I write. HD anywhere! We are extremely happy with our dish.

    Winegard Carryout Satellite TV Antenna

I bought the satellite June 2009 set it up at my house, worked great. Then went camping It took me at least an hour or more to set it up each time we stoped for a few days. Then at a campground in Texas a man asked me how I liked my Winegard I asked him if he would like to buy it, he said he had one and he works for a RV store in NE. He told me about electric wires and water pipes under ground that could interfere with the unit, told me to buy a tripod, which I did and at the next 10 stops in 6 different states, it took about 5 mins for me to start watching TV. I think Winegard and RV stores that sell this unit should tell their customers that it works best and gets locked in faster when using the Tripod. Take it from me they will all be HAPPY CAMPERS

EvenThough I Can't Record Two Shows on My VIP612 Receiver from DISH NETWORK I Can Still Pause and Replay Live TV. This Portable Satellite DISH is Very Perfect. I Have DISH NETOWRK and it Picks Up All Three Satllites 110 119 129. This Winegard Carryout Portable Satellite DISH Will Be a Piece of Cake. If I Hook Up another Receiver to it Then I Would Have a Problem. Which Would Be if Someone is Watching a Channel That's on 110, 119 or 129 That's The Satllite That You Have To Watch on TV2. If TV1 Gets Changed Over to another Satllite 119 or 129 TV2 Would Get Changed also. So Just Hooking one TV up to The Winegard Carryout Portable Satellite DISH is all You Woud Need if You Wanted to Watch a Channel From 110 and a Channel from 119 or 129 on TV2. You Would Have to Have Two Separate Receivers From DISH NETWORK and Two Separate Winegard Carryout Portable Satllite DIshes With This Portable Winegard Carryout Satellite Antenna. I Can take My Favorite TV Shows EveryWhere I Go.All I Have to Do is Take The Legs Off and Make it Easey For Me To Carry Around Wherever I Go. The VIP612 is a Perfect Receiver To use With A Portable Satlellite DISH. Since it Only Has One LNB and Supports 1 TV You Can Still Pause and Replay Live TV But Not Record Two TV Shows at The SameTime. I Just Play Like it Only Supports one Receiver and Not Two. This Winegard Carryout Portable Satellite DISH Antenna Will Be a Piece of Cake Everywhere I Go On Vacaiton. Hotels The Beach The Doctor The Deintist The BaseballGame The NFLGame The NHLGame The NBA Game or any Sports You Can Think of Out Side the Stadium and Nascar and Indycar Racing. This Portable Winegard Carryout Portable Satellite DISH Will Be a Piece of Cake. You Have TV in Less Than Five Miniutes.

This Unit Really Works as Advertised

We have recently gone on the road with out 5th wheel. We had originally had Direct TV in our home but called Direct and had them put our account on hold for a while. The unit comes with a long power cord (12 volts only) - if you intend to power it as I did with 110, you need to buy the power supply converter (about $30). You need to also purchase enough RG-6 cable ( I think the box comes with it but I tossed it - the instructions say it is under the foam in the bottom) and also a 9 flat 75 ohm cable to go through the window (if you don't have an outside satellite connection). Most older RV's only have a cable (DSS) connection which will not work. Everyone has said they are worried about someone stealing the unit. I put the unit on top of my 5th wheel and put a kryptonite cable through the plate on the unit. It is now out of sight and locked. I next dropped the 12 volt power cord down the side, plugged in the 110 converter, plugged it into the outside of my 5th wheel, ran the RG-6 cable down the side, through the window using the flat cable, bought a 4 foot RG-6 cable at Radio Shack to connect the flat cable to the Direct TV receiver. I got online with DirectTV, changed my account back to active, and powered the receiver, TV and Winegard up. You can hear it searching. The first search takes a little long (about 3 min) but wham, Direct TV came up automatically without putting in any zip code of anything. It was so simple to use this unit. If you have DISH, you have to change a switch on the inside of the dome first. We are planning to switch to DISH just to get HD. With Direct, you get no HD. We are only hooked up to one TV and I have heard if you connect to 2 TV's, the unit can only point to 1 satellite and if the primary reciever is switched to another satellite by someone changing channels, it will change the 2nd TV to that satellite as well. If both of you are on the same satellite, you can watch different TV channels.

Pros: It is convenient, much easier than using a manual dish and trying to find a signal. We love it. You just need to make sure you are clear of any satellite obstructions, such as trees. Excellent purchase.

Cons: It would be easy for someone to walk away with it. We put a door knob alarm on ours. When camping on one of our trips and after dark, a camper set it off and was caught in the act. I just don't like it that because it is portable and accessible, it creates theft temptation

    Carryout in Canada

I received my Carryout GM 1518 in Alberta, Canada, on April 1, 2010, along with the free tripod and the ladder bracket (purchased ).Once I followed the instructions I received from a Winegard Tech everything was working in short order. I was able to use the connections on the side of my 2009 Designer 5th wheel. My one concern was the instructions given for Bell ExpressVU which is my provider. Non existent except to set the switches on the dish. In regards to some of the other reviews I agree that the instructions are vague. My experience with Winegard communication was excellent. I was told that Sat 82 does not work South of the border. Will find out next winter. Definitely beats the holler and tweak method I have used in the past with my wife (or myself) and a manual dish.

After Reading all the great reviews I finally bought the GM-1518. The initial set up was ok. Except I could not get the second Reciever input to work. I have DISH NETWORK and Dual Box VIP722KDVR. No were in the instruction did i find that for both inputs to work First I needed to have Coax running from the main port on the GM-1518 running to the number one input on the reciever. ( you can not use the splitter that is normally use for a regular Dish) the Main port controll's the Satelite switching. For the second input to work you have to run a second coax from the Secondary Port on the GM-1518 to the second input on your reciever. Now the only other minor problem is that Input one controll's what Satelite you are on. If some one is watching TV#2 and it is on SAT 110 and you change TV#1 to a channel that is on SAT129. TV#2 gets changed also. One last thing the Lady at Winegard was very very helpfull and knowleable

    Fantastic Product

We subscribe to DishNetwork with 250+ channels and just about every HD channel DishNetwork provides. For the last four years I've been dealing with manually setting up a DishNetwork 1000.2 satellite antenna. I'm 'satellite aiming' challenged and sometimes it would take me hours to align the antenna to receive all satellites (110, 119, 129). Both myself and my wife got fed up with trying to aim the antenna. I did research on the Carryout and Winegard claimed the Carryout supported DishNetwork HD channels. The initial Carryout setup was a breeze. In fact my wife did the setup which required removing the dome and flipping tow DIP switches. I then ran the satellite cable and the power cable to the Carryout. Plugged it in and the Carryout did its 'search' as it was supposed to do. I then went inside and did the initial setup for the satellite receiver by doing a 'Check Switch'. The receiver found the SW64 switch. BTW the SW64 is a software switch, not a physical switch. The receiver found all three satellites and then downloaded the 'Guide'. Total initial setup time was just 15 minutes. We where able to see all of the 250+ channels and all of our HD channels. The Carryout was able to change to different satellites depending on what channel we where watching. It is so quick doing this you don't even know it's switching satellites. After this initial setup I suspect I can have the Carryout up and running and watching TV in about 5 minutes. I'm truly impressed! No more frustrating hours trying to aim another satellite dish. This is a great product.

    Good, but not for DVRs

It was wonderful having a machine that found the satellite signal all by itself, but two design flaws led us to return the Carryout and get our money back. (1) it won't allow you to record 2 programs simultaneously on a 2-input DVR. (2) Coax cables have to pass through a window or door directly into the receiver inputs (not input into the side of the RV). We could have lived with the 2nd flaw, but the 1st flaw was a killer. This would be great for somebody with a simple receiver, or who can live with one channel at a time.

    Not giving a heads up

A heads up is not given that a `120 volt to dc voltage with a minimium of 5 amps is needed for connecting to a rv. This store does not carry the necessary converter, I had to find one at another establishment. The satellite performed just fine after changing the settings, as I was told to do. I think that the converter should come with the antenna.

This product is great. It works has it states. My wife is really happy, no more yelling back and forth. It took longer the first time to find the satellite. Now it locks in very quickly. My only concern with this product is thief once word gets around about how great they are.

I puchased the Winegard Carryout a couple weeks ago and love it. It was simple to set up and use on our vacation. The only problem I did have was setting it up when I 1st purchased it. It says it comes from the factory set up for Direct TV but after a couple of hours and it not working I checked the settings on it to find out it was not set up for Direct TV. Once I reset it I had TV in less than 5 minutes.

Very expensive, but works as advertised.

I gave this 4 stars instead of 5 because of the price. This is a very expensive "TOY", but does what it says it will do. I know I will hate it when the price drops in half or more, or they come out with an even smaller dish and lighter weight one. I used it for the first time this past weekend and was in a heavily wooded area. I still had to play around with it to get a signal because of all the trees. One thing to note though, is to make sure you have the coax connected and your receiver turned on. If you don't the dish will sit there and search endlessly for a signal. Kind of makes you wonder why it says fully automatic if you have to have a receiver plugged into it and turned on, but it needs this to find the satellites. We are occasional campers, but it will still save me time when setting up. The only other thing I was worried about was it getting stolen. Most people don't know that it is a very expensive piece of metal and plastic, but once people figure this out, it could be an easy target for being stolen. I am thinking about a chain and lock to deter those who might think about helping themselves to it.

Light weight that my 6 yr old can carry it! Next thing i need to buy is the ladder mount..... We loved the free tripod it came with! This is worth every penny! makes my life so simple!

    What's not to like?

After spending over a year without TV and watching many of my RV-ing neighbors struggle to point their sat antennas, I finally decided to make the commitment. I have no regrets. This product does exactly what it's advertised to do. It's light, requires only a screw driver to attach the handle, and is so quiet I originally thought it was not working. The only drawback (and reason for not getting 5 stars) in my opinion is that there doesn't seem to be any way to secure the unit from theft. And, I am sad that I bought the unit before the tripods were included free of extra charge. I highly recommend this product.

Let me say at the out set that I'd buy this thing again in a heart beat as once setup it's wonderful. There is a however, however. The directions mention a sw64. I was told by three techs at Dish that the sw64 is out dated, it was separate hard ware, that is used to be built in, that it was soft ware, you get the picture. Then I got ahold of the fourth guy and he told me all I had to do when switching from my house to the RV was make sure I was on 119 and run a test switch, and that the proper switch would automatically be installed. That was it. No problems since. It works great.

Although HD is not available, this is a great addition to our trailer. I added a 12 volt plug near the front and set it up for a trial run. I plugged in the receiver and dish and heard it make its sounds. I watched and listened for a few seconds, then went inside to see what the TV would show. It was already downloading info! From plug in to entering a channel to watch was about 3 1/2 minutes. I too share the concern about only being able to watch one satellite at a time when hooked up to two receivers, but face it...we are camping after all.

Even though this is a bit pricey it is well worth the money. After dealing with a standard dish this is a breeze. Quick and easy setup. Being a low profile unit it can withstand wind. We were in a thunderstorm with sustained winds of at least 70mph, it never moved and we never lost signal. Great Product!

    Winegard Antenna

I love it. I have Dish HD and it picks up the three satellites that is necessary. I set it out, go inside and go to satellite setup and in five minutes I'm watching TV, not out pounding stakes and messing with a compass. I am a contractor and spend a lot of time on the road. When I get ready to move I go out and pick it up and put it in the RV. I would recommend it to anyone who wants an automatic dish but doesn't want to pay the price of a roof mounted one.

Fed up with trying to find satellites with a meter and compass, my wife and I took a long ride this past weekend to buy this dish. Once it was set-up (a matter of 15 minutes or so), I plugged her in and instantly had a beautiful picture. All the channels came in perfectly. As we camp at least one long weekend a month, this product is going to be an awesome addition to our camping ware. No more searching, no more frustration, no more worries! Thank you!!!

We recently purcheased this to replace our dish on a tripod, which would get blown over constantly and was hard to aim. We are full-timers and love this one! Its so simple, the only thing to remember is that it had to hook directly to the receiver box, and that the tv and receiver have to be on before powering on the dome. It even had a great signal thru a pretty rough storm. We love it!
