Description

WINEGARD CO 497 Enjoy tomorrow’s TV today with theater-quality picture and sound from your analog TV and over-the-air antenna.

Watch our online product demonstration video for more information!

Snowy picture and poor sound quality are things of the past with Winegard’s Digital HD Receiver. Now you can see the clearest image available and hear DVD-quality sound, using your analog TV and crank-up antenna. The compact receiver connects easily between your antenna and your TV to deliver crystal clear digital channels.

New Digital Standard Coming in 2009
Broadcast television stations are currently simulcasting both analog and digital over-the-air signals. On Feb. 18, 2009, all analog television signal transmission will cease. At that time, analog TVs will require a receiver to convert digital over-the-air signals to analog signals that older TVs can display. Production of analog TVs ends in March 2007. With the Winegard Digital HD Receiver, you can still use your analog TV to receive digital signals--no need to buy another TV! The Winegard Digital HD Receiver can be used in your RV or at home with no monthly fees.

The Digital Advantage

  • Clearest Image Available--No More Snowy Picture
  • Theater Quality Sound--Dolby 5.1 Digital Compatible
  • Increased Programming Choices through Multicasting
  • HDTV Compatible for Use with HD-capable TVs

Digital Transmission Advantages

  • Transfers data in bits--like a computer--rather than using magnetic waves like analog transmission.
  • Digital transmissions carry much more information than analog, delivering much more picture detail and DVD/CD-quality audio.
  • TV stations have up to 6 channels to multicast different programming: their main programs with enhanced sound and picture plus up to 5 more channels of additional programming, such as weather, news, special features, movies, children’s programs, sports and more (program choices vary by station).
  • Uses less of the broadcast spectrum, freeing bandwidth for public service and wireless use.

    Don't waste your money - July 08, 2008

I bought the RC-1010 and can't get any channels. The auto channel search won't pick up any channels even when they have a 98% signal strength and the remote won't let you enter the channels as a digital number such as 6.1, 7.1, etc. Find something better.

OVERKILL unless you have HD ready TV - June 30, 2008

This unit is overkill for 99% of the TV sets in RVs. Most analog TVs have a maximum of 480 resolution. For that, the less expensive Winegard converter (eligible for the $40 government rebate) will do the same job as this unit. (Many of the other converter boxes on the market are essentially the same). The only reason to purchase this more expensive unit is IF YOU HAVE AN HD READY TV. For a few recent years, you could buy a TV having 720 or 1080 (the best) HD resolution that did NOT have a built-in HD tuner. Most HD sets have had a built-in tuner ... but some were available with just an analog tuner [480 resolution] but with the built in potential to view better [720 or 1080 resolution] when fed an external HD signal. THIS IS WHERE THIS UNIT SHINES! Unless it has been changed since I purchased one last year, it does NOT have a standard hook-up jack -- becasue it does put out a higher HD resolution signal, it must feed through a 3 wire (video + 2 audio) hookup. Many older RVs do not have this type of input on their TVs. The simpler converter boxes that I Mentioned above do have standard hook up jack (standard coaxial cable type jack) that is far more universal than an 3 wire hook up. Backing up -- when analog TV signals are dropped, signals will be digital. There is standard digital viewing which can be done on any TV using a converter box ... and there is high definition digital viewing which can only be done on a HIGH DEFINITION TV. The few high definition TVs that were sold without built-in tuners benefit from this HD receiver ... normal analog TVs do not!

THE BEST PURCHASE EVER - April 08, 2008

I was very concerned about spending the money on this receiver not knowing for sure just what all it could or couldn't do. I was really surprised at how easy it was to hook up and get going. Within minutes I had over 22 channels as crystal clear as any HD picture I had seen on satellite. I was totally shocked at the quality and very pleased with my purchase for our RV. This is a great product and we highly recommend it to anyone. Well worth the money!!!!
