WINEGARD CO 497
Enjoy satellite programming as easily as at home, with no compromises in convenience or performance.
The Winegard® TRAV'LER™ Slimline Ka/Ku Multi-Satellite TV Antenna can view five satellites at the same time, giving RVers the same advantages of the latest home satellite systems with no extra switches, HD converters or other accessories. One-button operation means no more toggling between satellites to receive the programming you want. The TRAV'LER™ antenna lets RVers watch separate programs from different satellites at the same time from one antenna, just like at home. The completely re-engineered mechanical platform allows a rigid mount that withstands strong winds, providing a stable base for uninterrupted signal acquisition. Folds and stows at less than 10"H--significantly lower than 12" to 15"H domes. Unlike dome antennas, the TRAV'LER™ antenna features approved, certified DISH Network™ and DIRECTV® reflector antennas, so they offer the highest gain for maximum signal strength. The TRAV'LER™ antenna works on any RV. It is compatible with all receivers, including DVRs, and support multiple receivers. For stationary viewing only.

DIRECTV® is now offering over 100 HD channels. Until now, RVers have not had an option to get complete HD programming. Winegard® continues to meet the needs of their customers by providing RVers with the only solution for maximum DIRECTV® HD programming. The Slimline KU/KA receives signals from both KU (101º, 110º and 119º) and KA band (99º and 103º) satellites at the same time! No add-on accessories are needed, other than an HD Ready TV and HD Receiver with programming.

Bought @ CW and installed it myself with the help of a friend. I own an older Country Coach and to our surprise interior wiring was of the correct type and size for HD use. Easy install and straight forward instructions make it a breeze. Fired this bad boy up and within 5 minutes of calling Direct TV it was up n running! Also installed 2 new HD TV's. Direct TV was, as always, very helpful and FAST on the one issue I had... Upgrading to HD for the MoHo. Went with a DVR up front and standard HD receiver for the bedroom. The cost for the new HD Direct TV receivers were 199 and 99. Installed cut-off switch (power-off) for both TV's, HD receivers and Winegard unit (has option to power down while up and aimed). All these units draw power (stand-by mode) even when off... Tough on batteries when dry camping so this works out great. One 135 watt solar panel keeps up with power draws so far (two 8D units). I was able to receive signals in spaces that before were very weak or blank. Worked great in the rain (1 inch in 14 hours) Very happy with this unit so far. I still bought CW extended warranty($169) jusssssst in case. One never knows, and covering ones rear is smart in my electronics world!

I've had this unit installed on my motorhome for about a year now and have not had one problem with it. I am a full time RVer and in that time I have powered the dish up and down numerous times and it has worked great everytime! I get all the HD channels DirecTV has to offer. As with any satellite dish, you must have a clear view of the sky. It won't receive thru trees!

My original Winegard TRAVELER DIRECTV Slimline Ka/Ku Multi-Satellite TV Antenna worked for about 2 months. Winegard replaced it in Denver. That one worked for 4 months and was replaced by Winegard in Amsterdam, NY (this replacement included the base, the previous one did not). I must say that Winegard and CW bent over backwards to make things right. Each change out was done without charge. I am now past my warranty period and can only hope for the best. My experience has been that the antenna has some serious design flaws and one can only hope that Winegard has fixed them. But when it works, you just sit back and enjoy the picture . . . . .

I'm back! This is my second review. My unit has failed yet again. In 7 months the antenna has experienced the same failure. The error code AZ motor stalled. Which means that you must climb on the roof with tools and lower the unit manually. My local CW told me that the unit had water in it and the circuit board was fried. I'm not a happy camper, not to mention dozens of phone calls and 1 1/2 weeks down time for my RV. CW said that it wasn't their fault because it was sealed properly on the roof. My position is, if it was properly sealed, then there must be a design flaw. By nature of the system it must be used outside in the elements, therefore it should totally waterproof! This unit cost too much money to be dealing with this much grief. Shop around for options. I cannot recommend this item!
