Easy-loading bike rack safely transports 2 bikes of any size.
RVs generate exponentially more stress on bike racks than do cars and trucks. These Swagman Bike Racks are built and tested for use on the rear of RVs.

I bought this rack to replace a ladder mount rack. The ladder mount allowed the bikes forks to rub against the frame and began to... deform the ladder from the weight. I have used this rack on both the camper and the truck. It is rock solid! There is virtually no movement of the bike on the rack or the rack in the receiver. There is a threaded bolt that locks the rack in the receiver and keeps everything from moving. This is the best ever
We switched from a different rack where you had to screw
down a metal plate to hold the bikes, this ratchet system is
terrific a...nd fast; Bike is much more stable in this new rack,
sorry we didn't get one earlier.
All metal - which I expect to hold up much better than the metal and plastic rack I recently sent to recycle. I'm on a long trip a...nd after about 2,200 miles the bikes were still firmly in position showing no damage even though we had traveld some bumpy roads (the rack is
mounted at the back of a 30' fifth wheel trailer). The only improvement I'd like to see would make it easier to really lock the rack to the trailer and the bikes to the rack. I can do it, but it could be better. All in all, I'd buy it again.
Oval holders keep tires from spinning and handelbars from flopping from side to side. Also great that I can use it with my truck o...r camper easily. Padded support keeps paint on bike from getting chipped.
I couldn't be happier with this rack! We purchased it prior to a 6500 mile cross country
trip we took in our High Top Chevy Van... last June, 2010. I've used the hanging style of
racks in the past and with most all mountain bikes having a top bar that's NOT parallel
to the ground, I was often concerned about bike tire clearances at various driveway
entrances and on many back road situations. No concerns any more! Bikes are
always riding very solidly/stabily and level with good ground clearance. We traveled all
types of road conditions following major portions of Historic Route 66 on our way to the
West coast and visiting many National Parks/Forests (and Wal-Mart parking lots!) all
along the way. We even bought new bikes during the trip (donating the old ones to
Goodwill) and, with all the simple adjustments this rack offers, it's always a 'piece of
cake' to fit the rack quickly to any size bike you wish to carry along. The rack is quick to
install, bolts on tightly, folds compactly to store and continues to be in regular use
getting our bikes conveniently to/from regional cycling destinations when we're not on a
I purchased this for use on my camping trailer and was initially very pleased with the quality of construction and secure way to c...arry bikes as I have previously had a bike bounce off the hanging type bike holder. However, I am unable to use it due to the bike handlebar firmly contacting the back of the trailer due to inadequate length of support arm on carrier. Looks like I'll have to invest in an alteration to add about 3-5 inches further from trailer. So, buyer beware.
Used this rack with two bikes loaded at aprox 15 lbs each with the inside bike's handle bar only two inches from the back of my tr...avel trailer- they never touched during travel over highways and long, rough bridges. Very solid, well built and easy to assemble.
Well built unit with the bonus of the bumper receiver included. Easy to assemble, install and remove for use on other vehicles. Se...curely holds two bikes so they do not rattle or cause damage to RV or truck.
This bike rack is exactly what we were looking for. The other reviewers comments regarding the attaching bolts and nuts did give ...me a little concern when ordering. However, upon receipt I found absolutely no issues with the bolts or nuts. It may be due to the fact that they are 16mm in size and I just happened to have both deep set sockets and wrenches that are metric, and the item installed without any issues at all. I would have rated the rack at a 5 except that I feel the shaft that slides into the hitch could use about 1/2 to 1 more length for added clearance past my trailer spare. Great
product, simple to use and low to the ground which eliminates trying to lift the bicycles over your shoulders or head.
This rack mounted on my trailer bumper with no problems. Carries a pair of 30lb bikes with out concerns. Threaded locking to the r...eceiver ensures that there is no movement of the rack on rougher roads. Easily switches to the truck when trailer is unhitched. Folds up and stores in minimal
space. I swivel the handle bars on the bikes to make them easier to mount and not tangle with each other. For security I use cable locks to around bikes and bumper.
Our orig. bike rack was the hanging type that we bought while on vacation at a Wal-Mart. We put it on the back of our trailer and ...shortly after getting on the hwy were flagged down that something was wrong. The bikes were being dragged. One was completely destroyed the other shows road rage. They were new bikes, ridden for the first time at the park. The next trip they were over secured so we thought. We got to our
destination and found the bikes had bounced so much that it marked up the back of our trailer. We tried to stop them from bouncing on several subsequent trips but where not successful. We recently bought a new 5th wheel that has a large window in the rear and didn't want to take the chance of the bikes hitting the window so we bought
this rack. We are so glad we did. We've put more than 2,000 miles on since we
bought this rack and have had no problems. The bikes are easier to put on and get off then the other rack and the peace of mind was well worth the additional cost.
I have had several bike racks and this is the best one I have owned. It holds the bikes steady. No extra tie downs needed. The ...way the hitch pin screws into the reciever it works great keeping the bikes from bounceing. Also with the bumper mount I can still use my other hitch to hold my extend a tray.
This is absolutely the best rack out there. It took about 15 minutes to put together and another 15-20 minutes to get it adjusted ...to our two bikes. One boys bike and one girls
bike. When you slide the clamp down, they will not move a bit. Nothing, nada. Excellent piece of equipment and would recommend for any one that wants to take along a bike or two. I'd give it 10 stars if I could.
I have 2 vehicles, and the extension bar is 2 inches short on both vehicles... I need to turn the bike handle to load
and not co...ntact the trailer. The box for the bumper hitch does not indicate it includes a 4x4 bumper hitch adapter, so I bought one that I later returned
This hitch assembled easily and works well. The only criticism I have is that the arm which attaches to the receiver hitch on my ...RV could be a tad longer (1/2 inch), because as mounted the inside bicycle handlebar makes contact with the back of the RV. We solved that by making a pad for the end of the handlebar. Another solution, which we did not use, would have been to attach the included bumper mount to the back bumper. If we had used the included bumper mount, it would have given us more mounting
options for the bicycles, as well, so the problem is not with the rack, it is with the design of our RV. I would highly recommend this rack.
Great unit that was very easy to assemble. Nice thing about this bike rack is it can either
be attached directly to your RVs bu...mper or works directly off a receiver hitch. The rack
is solidly built and holds two regular sized bikes without any problems. I recommend this
to anyone considering buying a bike rack.
Purchased this bike rack to transport our two different types of bicycles. Last year I
borrowed our son's $300 rack and damage...d my bike when the two bikes got tangled
on a bumpy road. This rack is solid and protective. Easy to asemble and mount the
bikes. Only complaint - have to use a screwdriver to release the hold down clamp.
This may be a good thing if it deters theft.
We have only used the carrier 4 times but have found that it works great using the 4 bumper mount hitch provided or inserted direc...tly into the truck hitch if we aren't pulling the trailer. The bikes ride securely on the back of our trailer with the wheels completely out of harms way going in and out of raised driveways. The bikes ride without any side to side movement. It replaces a carrier that the bikes hung from rather than ride on.
Much safer and more satisfactory!
Holds two bikes securely with minimal effort. Most of the
reviewers that did not give it 5 stars appeared to not think
that the ...location of a rear spare tire or ladder may affect
how good a fit it is without an extension. We have a
recumbent and a girls bike. It took me longer than 15
minutes to set it up initially, because I experimented with
every possible configuration (both bikes facing left or
right or one each way) to make sure nothing bumped my ladder
and to decide which hold down bracket should be on top.
Now, it take 5 minutes to get the rack from the shed, mount
on the back of my RV an load the 2 bikes.
My recumbent is about two inches longer than this is
designed for, but the hold down bar still holds it securely.
It will not work on a motor home without purchasing an extension . Camping World does not offerthe extension. We are now scramblin...g to find and extension so that we can tke our
bikes when we travel in our motor home. This needs to be addressed.
In a day that customer service has seemed to be lost, this company goes way above to take
care of their products. We had a problem... with one of the hooks that held the bike down and
when we contacted the Swagman company they not only replaced the entire rack, but they
also paid for the bike.I wish more companies would provide this kind of service.Buying one of
their products would be an excellent choice for anyone in the market for a bike rack.
We bought this to use on the bumper of our 5th wheel. It does exactly what we wished for it to do. Also, convenient on our Trail B...lazer for local trips to go cycling. Would recommend this highly! Very secure as is without having to strap bikes down.
Pros: Easy to use, Secure hold, Adjustable, Well-built
We purchased this rack specifically for the back of our travel trailer. We also purchased a
4 inch adapter but were able to retu...rn it as this rack came with the appropriate size
attachment for our bumper. It took about 15 mins. to size it to our bikes and after that it
was super simple to use. We were able to easily move it from the camper to our truck. It
was great being able to drive down the road and not have the bikes bouncing up and
down because they were hanging and strapped on. So much more secure. Wished we
had bought this the first time around and saved the hundreds on the previous rack!
Would definitely recommend.
This hitch works very well. It's compact and easy to assemble. I had the hitch
assembled on attached to my truck within 20 minut...es. The wheel supports are easily adjustable for any size bike. The bike latching hooks work extremely well. I felt a little unsure of how the unit wiggles within the hitch, so I added a couple of bungie cords to prevent the rack from rocking. However, later I didn't bother with the bungies. The rack was plenty stable without them. The price was good, the delivery was fast. The unit is
very light weight and my wife was able to easily remove the unit from our truck and place it in storage. We stored the extra pieces included with the rack. I have a 2 inch receiver on my truck that worked out very well. However, with the extra supplied pieces, you can also attach it to to a bumper.
This bike rack just could not be any easier to use. It is extremely easy to load the bikes on without any help. The mechanism to s...ecure them is simple and can be done with one hand while just balancing the bike on the base. I've used this several times now on the back of my travel trailer and the bikes are very secure. They don't move around
and the way this is designed it seems pretty much impossible for them to get
scratched up while in transit. I am very happy with this purchase.
I did a lot of studying before I bought this bike rack.
I am using it a little different then most. I have a class A rig and mou...nted the bumper
mount on top of my regular hitch.
I had to buy several things to make this work.
I purchased shorter bolts and new lock nuts. I also purchased a hitch adapter to raise
the hitch above my tow bar. I have invested about $100 above the bike rack but it is all
I can now put my bikes on the back of the RV instead of the car and that will improve fuel
Second bike rack we've owed. First was a four bike rack that four bikes wouldn't
fit on if they we're disassembled. This rack is ...sweet for two bikes, ease of
loading is quick and easy. Mounts to camper bumper and fits in 2 receiver,
makes it more versatile.
I was shocked when I put together this bike rack at how well built, functional & sturdy not to mention the ease of assembly. W...e immediately set the wheel locking brackets & marveled at the ratcheting hold down padded bars.
The only problem we noticed is that we had to loosen the handlebars of the bike closest to the trailer & turn them parallel to the frame as we have a picture window in the rear of the Jayco 32RDLS travel trailer &. Otherwise, the end piece of the handlebar was too close for comfort. An additional 4 to 6 inches extension would be absolute perfection. This is, however, a minor issue as we are delighted with the purchase & highly recommend it. If all products purchased from Camping World are this superior, we will make this site a go to for all camping purchases.
Pros: Easy to use, Secure hold, Sturdy, Well-built
ForestRiver Bullet used the bumper mount rack once and it twisted my bumper have to find a way to do something about this problem ...make sure you have a sturdy bumper before you buy and install this bike rack. I only had two bikes on it like it was made for like the rack but the bumper was not strong enough.
More durable that any other bike rack I have ever had. The
only thing that I had a complaint about is there was a 4 bumper attach...ment in the box and it was not on the description of the rack and I ordered and paid for a 4 bumper attachment. No problem with returning the extra attachment, just had to drive to Campers World to do it. GREAT product!
I'm very happy with this rack. It was easy to install, is simple to use, holds bikes securely,
and doesn't have any rubber strap...s that break. Since it folds down out of the way I can
still access the back cargo area of my vehicle without removing it. I like it much better
than two previous bike racks that were the hanging style and involved rubber straps. I
would buy this again, but don't expect to need to since it seems built to last.
When thinking of purchasing this unit, the Camping World salesman indicated I would need to purchase a bumper mount attachment. Wh...en I did open the box to install I found a bumper mount included. Now I have two and can only use one.
I am just getting ready to hit the road with this rack so I
can't comment on performance yet but it is very well built
and easy ...to use. The bikes are loaded and everything is
very tight. Also the order went very smooth and it came in
the specified amount of time. So far so good!!
This is a great bike rack for any RVer. Installs easily and loads even easier. Holds a variety
of bike sizes. For me, it handles... two mountain bikes easily. No issues when traveling either.
Everything stays in place. When not in use, the fold up feature makes for easy and compact
storage. Even attaches to my truck easily (Standard 2 inch receiver) to transport my bikes
when not hooked up to my 5th wheel. GREAT PRODUCT!
Very satisfied with this purchase. Very easy to assemble and I love how easy it is to load
and unload our 2 mountain bikes. The ...only thing I was a little disappointed in was I had
to remove my spare tire and put it in trailer, but I was expecting that.
The rack is
easy to install, load, and unload. Not to mention, when locked in, not much movement. The ability to lock the J arms... with pad locks is also a plus and keeps honest people honest. Not to mention, a piece
The design and execution of this rack is top notch. Easy to install, does an excellent job of
accommodating a variety of frame d...esigns, and retains the bikes with a worry-free system
that is as stable as it is hugely adjustable.
I have a mountain bike and a cruiser, so the standard bar style wouldn't work. I didn't want to invest too far until I knew for su...re. Surprisingly enough, the reviews are right. This rack holds both style bikes perfectly, and with ease. I am very pleased and would definitely recommend it. It takes a few minutes to put together initially, but once complete it just folds up and is ready to go the next time you need it. My one and only con (if that's what you want to call it) is that the instructions say to slide the hooks onto the upright pole in step 3, when actually you should skip that step, add your bikes, then slip over the hooks. You won't know until they are fully loaded/mounted whether your bike needs the long or short hook first. You can't lift the pole with the hooks attached once the bikes are in place. Do yourself a favor and skip step 3 until the end. It's not a problem, just a way to eliminate an extra step when you have to remove the hooks to lift the bar as instructed. Overall, this is a great rack and definitely worth it.
There is only 10.5" clearance between the center of the inside bike wheel mount and the end of the tow bar. What this means i...s if you have a bike that has a distance greater than this from the handlebar stem to the edge of the handlebar, the handlebar will hit the rear of your RV. I called Swagman Customer Service and they said the only thing you can do is loosen the handlebars and move them out of the way. They do not advise using a tow bar extender.
I was pleasantly surprised when I opened the box and found such a well built rack. This rack makes loading and unloading your bike... easy. I was concerned about holding my carbon fiber bike, but I found this rack to be very gentle in the firm way it secures the frame.
Pros: Easy to use, Inexpensive, Adjustable, Well-built
Purchased this bike rack to place on the rear bumper of my 5th wheel. Removed the spare tire carrier to keep from getting overweig...ht on the bumper, I carry the spare in the truck bed. The rack is very stable with little motion to the bikes. As other reviews have stated, there isn't enough room for the handlebars on the bike nearest the camper. One of our bikes is narrower in the handlebars by an inch, so I place that one on the inside. I also loosen the screws that hold the handlebars and slide it as far away from the camper as possible before retightening them. That gives me enough room so the handlebars don't touch the camper and there is so little motion to the bikes while traveling that they never touch the camper. After reaching our campsite, I can remove the bike rack from the camper and put it in the 2 inch receiver on my truck to go to the bike trails by removing just the retaining pin, very handy. The fold down center support also makes it very easy to get the inside bike on the rack. Very happy with our purchase.
Pros: Easy to use, Secure hold, Sturdy, Adjustable
This bike rack is either attached to a 2" receiver hitch already on the travel trailer, or the included adapter is mounted to a 4"/4.5" steel bumper to create a receiver for the bike rack to attach to. Installation instructions can be downloaded here.

My slide goes out the back how tall would the bike sit?
It is recommended that the 'XC' bike rack dimension drawing be referred to verify clearance of the bike rack.

Is this carrier made for use on 5th wheel camper
by Jay – March 06, 2016
March 06, 2016
I am looking for a 2 bike carrier for the back of my 5th wheel camper. I have heard that some will not take the bumps and shaking of the back of a camper and will break. is this rated for the back of a camper?
Yes, an adapter can be used as long as the hitch receiver mounted your 5th wheel and adapter can handle the weight of the bike rack(41 lbs.) plus bikes(up to 35 lbs. per bike).

Can this be used with a bike bunk or is there a better mount to use for the bike bunk?
In a bumper mount of the same configuration, no. Instead Swagman offers a 4 bike bumper mount that is more of a cargo rack system, MFG#80600. And a towing model like item# 25897.
by Camping World – October 01, 2015
Item# 49401 includes an adapter for a 4" square bumper, or can be hooked up to a 2" square hitch receiver if not being used. Item# 49402 slides onto a 2" square receiver bar rather than connecting directly to an adapter or hitch receiver. The concept for #49402 is to free up the receiver to tow a trailer but still provide clearance to carry bikes.
If you have a spare tire on the back of the vehicle, you can also use item# 25898.

will lthis work on the back of a pop up camper that has a spare tire on the back
by phil – May 18, 2015
May 18, 2015
we have a 2000 coleman/fleetwood pop up. it has the continuous bumper on the back, but also the spare tire. we need a bike rack for two. will this work?
For an 'around the spare' style bike rack, we have item# 25898. Otherwise, yes this bike rack can be mounted to a 4" square bumper next to the spare tire as long as the weight capacity of the bumper is not exceeded.
by Camping World – September 28, 2015
The weight capacity listing is 35 lbs per bike, so 70lbs total for this model. The manufacturer doesn't state if it can hold more weight if only one bike is put onto the rack. Heavier weighted bikes may bend the brackets holding the bikes.

Video with RV

The advertisement states this was designed for an RV! Why does the video not show it being mounted on an RV??
The mounting of this unit is the same, whether on an RV or personal vehicle. The video was done on the SUV to show the ease of access to the trunk/cargo area feature this bike rack offers as well.
by Camping World – January 21, 2014
The bumper adapter is included with this rack.
